Coumarins from Peucedanum hystrix growing in Mongolia
It is proved to be that of genus Peucedanum hystrix serve as a source of biologically valuable natural coumarins. Nine angular furocoumarins belonging to class of 2'-substituted and 2',3'-disubstituted 2',3'-dihydrofurocoumarins have been isolated and structurally isolated. Deforestation and degradation of forests in the Khustai nuruu mountains of Northern Mongolia
Deforestation and forest degradation in the forest-steppe zone is one of the most pressing issues in the world, involving territory of southern boreal forests in Northern Mongolia. The changes in forest cover between 1999 and 2016 and driving factors to deforestation and forest degradation in the Khustai nuruu mountains of the Northern Mongolia were analyzed. Forest monitoring was carried out in mature and over-mature flat-leaved birch Betula platyphilla Sukacz. forests with an admixture of aspen Populus tremula L. using the combined method of remote sensing and ground based field measurements. We found an accelerated deforestation trend between 2006 and 2009, which amounted to 463 ha (23.2 %) since deforestation in the Khustai nuruu mountains was started. Overall 17-year forest monitoring revealed that a total of 675 ha of forests were completely converted to non-forest area. As urgent measures to mitigate the effects and limit rapid deforestation in study area, it is recommended to improve the sustainable forest management via establishing optimum head of livestock and wild animals, strengthening prevention and control measures against pests, and reforestation on deforested areas using seedling of native tree species taken from forest nurseries in the region
Drought resistance of spring wheat varieties
Selection for drought tolerance typically involves evaluating genotypes for either high yield potential or stable performance under drought stress. In order to select drought tolerant varieties of bread wheat an experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two replications during the growing season 2014-2018. Eight drought tolerance indices including stress tolerance index (STI), geometric mean productivity (GMP), mean productivity index (MP), stress susceptibility index (SSI), tolerance index (TOL), yield index (YI), yield stability index (YSI) and drought resistance index (DI) were calculated and adjusted based on grain yield under drought years (Ys) and favorable years (Yp). Result of study showed significant positive correlation between grain yield in the stress condition (Ys) with indicators STI, GMP, TOL, MP, and DI, accordingly they are discriminating drought tolerant genotypes at the same manner. Wheat varieties Darkhan-172, Darkhan-72, Altaiskaya-325, Altaiskaya-70, Darkhan-181 has a high yield potential. Genotypes Darkhan-160, Arvin, Darkhan-144 most droughts tolerant and can be use in wheat breeding for improving drought resistance.

Identification of Hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) Virus Infection among Doctors and Nurses in Tertiary Hospitals in Mongolia
The studies of M. Colombo (1989) and W. Lange (1992) showed that 30~40% of people became chronic after suffering from hepatitis B virus (HBV) and C virus (HCV) infection, and about 50% of the chronic cases transformed into primary liver cancer. There have been few studies done in Mongolia on hepatitis infection among health professionals, particularly in nurses. In a study done by Chimedsuren (8), the study showed that 19.4% of people with identified surface hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) and antibodies to hepatitis C virus and 8% of people with the identified nucleotide of RNA for the hepatitis C virus (polymerase chain reaction) had an acute form of hepatitis C. Studies on the hepatitis virus genome damaging effect on liver cells showed that genotype 8 (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, TTV) had the most damaging effect on liver cells (Hahn and Faeka, 2007). Several studies have shown a relationship between hepatitis B virus infection and a lack of compliance regarding safety regulations and rules by medical personnel. Results of a study from the Maternal and Child Health Research Center showed that tests done to detect hepatitis B virus antigen and antibodies to C virus did not reveal anything. Both antigen and antibodies in 69% cases did not show, and separately, B virus and antibodies to hepatitis C virus were identified in 13% and 9%, respectively. Results of the tests taken from health personnel in Shastin Central Hospital showed that in 76% of the cases, the B virus antigen with C virus antibodies was not identified. In 8% of the cases, the B virus antigen was present on its own. The combination of B the virus antigen and C virus antibodies were present in 8% of nurses and doctors, respectively. 82% of the cases had negative results for the detection of a combination of B virus antigen and C virus antibodies taken from health personnel from the State Central Clinical Hospital whereas the B virus antigen and C virus antibodies by themselves were present in 7% and 14% of the cases, respectively. Combined cases of the B virus antigen and C virus antibodies were identified in 4% of the personnel. Results of the tests taken from the health personnel in the Hospital of the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs showed that in 79% of the cases, the B virus antigen with C virus antibodies were not identified. Separately, the B virus and antibodies to hepatitis C virus were identified in 8% and 13% of the cases, respectively

P3111Empagliflozin, a SGLT2 inhibitor, attenuates endothelial dysfunction and atherogenesis by inhibiting inflammatory responses in the vasculature and adipose tissue in diabetic apolipoprotein E-deficient
Abstract
Background
Inflammation and oxidative stress associated with hyperglycemia are major causes of vascular dysfunction and cardiovascular complications in diabetes. Recent studies reported that cardioprotective effects of sodium glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, however underlying mechanisms are still obscure.
Purpose
The aim of this study was to investigate whether empagliflozin attenuates atherogenesis and endothelial dysfunction in diabetic apolipoprotein E-deficient (ApoE−/−) mice and investigated underlying mechanisms.
Methods
ApoE−/− mice were injected with streptozotocin (75 mg/kg) for 3 consecutive days. One week after last injection, a western type diet and administration of empagliflozin (20 mg/kg/day) or vehicle via oral gavage were started. Atherosclerotic plaque area was examined by en face Sudan IV staining. Lipid deposition and inflammatory features of atherosclerotic plaques was examined on lesions in the aortic root by immunohistochemical analysis. Vascular function was assessed by isometric tension recording. mRNA or protein expression level was examined by quantitative RT-PCR (qPCR) or western blot analysis, respectively. In in vitro experiments, murine macrophage cell line, RAW264.7, was used.
Results
Treatment with empagliflozin for 12 weeks significantly decreased atherosclerotic plaque size in the aortic arch compared with untreated group (p<0.01). Empagliflozin reduced blood glucose (p<0.001) and plasma lipid levels. Results of histological analyses revealed that empagliflozin decreased lipid deposition, macrophage accumulation, and the expression of inflammatory molecules in the aortic root. Empagliflozin treatment for 8 weeks significantly attenuated endothelial dysfunction as determined by vascular response to acetylcholine. qPCR results demonstrated that empagliflozin reduced the expression of inflammatory molecules such as MCP-1 (p<0.05), ICAM-1 (p<0.05) and Nox-2 (p<0.05), a major NADPH oxidase subunit, in the aorta compared with the untreated group. Furthermore, empagliflozin significantly mitigated the expression of these inflammatory molecules in fat tissues around the aortic arch as determined by qPCR. In in vitro studies, methylglyoxal (MGO), a precursor of AGEs, increased the expression of inflammatory molecules (e.g., MCP-1, IL-1b and TNF-a (p<0.05, respectively)) in RAW264.7 cells. MGO also significantly induced activation of JNK and p38 MAP kinase (p<0.001, respectively) in this cell-type.
Conclusions
Empagliflozin attenuated endothelial dysfunction and atherogenesis in diabetic ApoE−/− mice. Reduction of inflammation in the vasculature and peri-vascular adipose tissues may have a role as underlying mechanisms at least partially.
