Hamiltonian formulation of SL(3) Ur-KdV equation
We give a unified view of the relation between the KdV, the mKdV, and
the Ur-KdV equations through the Fr\'{e}chet derivatives and their inverses.
For this we introduce a new procedure of obtaining the Ur-KdV equation, where
we require that it has no non-local operators. We extend this method to the
KdV equation, i.e., Boussinesq(Bsq) equation and obtain the hamiltonian
structure of Ur-Bsq equationin a simple form. In particular, we explicitly
construct the hamiltonian operator of the Ur-Bsq system which defines the
poisson structure of the system, through the Fr\'{e}chet derivative and its

Fibrations in CICY Threefolds
In this work we systematically enumerate genus one fibrations in the class of
7,890 Calabi-Yau manifolds defined as complete intersections in products of
projective spaces, the so-called CICY threefolds. This survey is independent of
the description of the manifolds and improves upon past approaches that probed
only a particular algebraic form of the threefolds (i.e. searches for "obvious"
genus one fibrations as in [1,2]). We also study K3-fibrations and nested
fibration structures. That is, K3 fibrations with potentially many distinct
elliptic fibrations. To accomplish this survey a number of new geometric tools
are developed including a determination of the full topology of all CICY
threefolds, including triple intersection numbers. In 2,946 cases this involves
finding a new "favorable" description of the manifold in which all divisors
descend from a simple ambient space. Our results consist of a survey of obvious
fibrations for all CICY threefolds and a complete classification of all genus
one fibrations for 4,957 "Kahler favorable" CICYs whose Kahler cones descend
from a simple ambient space. Within the CICY dataset, we find 139,597 obvious
genus one fibrations, 30,974 obvious K3 fibrations and 208,987 nested
combinations. For the Kahler favorable geometries we find a complete
classification of 377,559 genus one fibrations. For one manifold with Hodge
numbers (19,19) we find an explicit description of an infinite number of
distinct genus-one fibrations extending previous results for this particular
geometry that have appeared in the literature. The data associated to this scan

Scalar Non-Luminous Matter in Galaxies
As a candidate for dark matter in galaxies, we study an SU(3) triplet of
complex scalar fields which are non-minimally coupled to gravity. In the
spherically symmetric static spacetime where the flat rotational velocity
curves of stars in galaxies can be explained, we find simple solutions of
scalar fields with SU(3) global symmetry broken to U(1) X U(1), in an
exponential scalar potential, which will be useful in a quintessence model of

Comparing the R algorithm and RHMC for staggered fermions
The R algorithm is widely used for simulating two flavours of dynamical
staggered fermions. We give a simple proof that the algorithm converges to the
desired probability distribution to within O(dt^2) errors, but show that the
relevant expansion parameter is (dt/m)^2, m being the quark mass. The Rational
Hybrid Monte Carlo (RHMC) algorithm provides an exact (i.e., has no step size
errors) alternative for simulating the square root of the staggered Dirac
operator. We propose using it to test the validity of the R algorithm for

Local Hall effect in hybrid ferromagnetic/semiconductor devices
We have investigated the magnetoresistance of ferromagnet-semiconductor
devices in an InAs two-dimensional electron gas system in which the magnetic
field has a sinusoidal profile. The magnetoresistance of our device is large.
The longitudinal resistance has an additional contribution which is odd in
applied magnetic field. It becomes even negative at low temperature where the
transport is ballistic. Based on the numerical analysis, we confirmed that our
data can be explained in terms of the local Hall effect due to the profile of
negative and positive field regions. This device may be useful for future

Proteomic analysis of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis reveals the metabolic insight on consumption of prebiotics and host glycans.
Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis is a common member of the intestinal microbiota in breast-fed infants and capable of metabolizing human milk oligosaccharides (HMO). To investigate the bacterial response to different prebiotics, we analyzed both cell wall associated and whole cell proteins in B. infantis. Proteins were identified by LC-MS/MS followed by comparative proteomics to deduce the protein localization within the cell. Enzymes involved in the metabolism of lactose, glucose, galactooligosaccharides, fructooligosaccharides and HMO were constitutively expressed exhibiting less than two-fold change regardless of the sugar used. In contrast, enzymes in N-Acetylglucosamine and sucrose catabolism were induced by HMO and fructans, respectively. Galactose-metabolizing enzymes phosphoglucomutase, UDP-glucose 4-epimerase and UTP glucose-1-P uridylytransferase were expressed constitutively, while galactokinase and galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase, increased their expression three fold when HMO and lactose were used as substrates for cell growth. Cell wall-associated proteomics also revealed ATP-dependent sugar transport systems associated with consumption of different prebiotics. In addition, the expression of 16 glycosyl hydrolases revealed the complete metabolic route for each substrate. Mucin, which possesses O-glycans that are structurally similar to HMO did not induced the expression of transport proteins, hydrolysis or sugar metabolic pathway indicating B. infantis do not utilize these glycoconjugates
