    Preserving Film Preservation in the Digital Era

    This paper explores the current controversies surrounding film preservation in the digital era. Questions address the benefits of new technologies and the potential sacrifices to a film\u27s authenticity and designation as a valued historical, social, and cultural artifact. Issues examined include film\u27s frail format, archives\u27s financial and storage limitations, the concept of the original film, and how current digitization methods affect each of these areas. This paper addresses the recent restorations of two particular films—Fritz Lang\u27s Metropolis (1927) and Alfred Hitchcock\u27s Vertigo (1958)—and concludes that digital technologies are not stable enough to replace traditional preservation methods, but they can greatly increase exposure to lesser-known films and support the general preservation of film

    Объектом исследования являются сложные оксиды, образующихся в системе ½ Dy2O3 – BaO – ½ Fe2O3 и производные, полученные на их основе. В работе был проведен синтез сложных оксидов, рентгенофазовый анализ всех синтезированных образцов. Зависимость кислородной нестехиометрии от температуры была изучена методами йодометрического титрования и высокотемпературной термогравиметрии. Для кобальт-замещенного сложного оксида было изучено линейное термическое расширение, общая электропроводность и магнитные свойства. Предложен изобарно-изотермический разрез фазовой диаграммы ½ Dy2O3 – BaO – ½ Fe2O3 при 1100 °С на воздухе.The object of the study is the complex oxides formed in the ½ Dy2O3– BaO – ½ Fe2O3 system and the samples obtained based on these phases. Synthesis of complex oxides and X-ray analysis of all synthesized samples has been performed. The changes of oxygen content in the solid solutions were measured by thermogravimetric analysis and iodometric titration as a function of temperature. Thermal expansion, total electrical conductivity, and magnetic properties were studied for the cobalt substituted complex oxide. A subsolidus isothermal isobaric phase diagram (1100 °C, in air) for the ½ Dy2O3 – BaO – ½ Fe2O3 system has been constructed

    On the Issue of Power Supply to Northern Municipalities from Solar-Diesel Power Plants

    В статье показано, что в Красноярском крае установленная мощность дизельных электростанций (ДЭС) составляет более 100 МВт, на которых вырабатывается около 200 млн кВт.ч электроэнергии, в связи с чем актуальным становится вопрос обоснования параметров и режимов работы автономной солнечно-дизельной электростанции (СДЭС) для электроснабжения села Ванавара Эвенкийского муниципального района Красноярского края. Приведены результаты компьютерного моделирования параметров и режимов СДЭС, принципиальная электрическая схема станции, включающей ДЭС мощностью 10 МВт и солнечную электростанцию мощностью 3 МВт, которая в июле покрывает потребности села Ванавара в электроэнергии на 86 %. Себестоимость электрической энергии, произведенной от СДЭС, составляет 37 руб./кВт∙ч, а от ДЭС – 56 руб./ кВт∙ч при 23 % экономии дизельного топливаThe article shows that in the Krasnoyarsk Territory the installed capacity of diesel power plants is more than 100 MW, which produce about 200 million kW.h electricity consumption, in connection with which the issue of substantiating the parameters and operating modes of an autonomous solar- diesel power plant for power supply to the village of Vanavara in the Evenki municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory becomes relevant. The results of computer modeling of the parameters and modes of a solar-diesel power plant are presented, as well as the basic electrical diagram of the station, which includes a 10 MW diesel power plant and a 3 MW solar power plant, which in July covers the needs of the village Vanavara needs electricity by 86 %.     Acquired inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathies: Clinical and electrodiagnostic features

    The acquired demyelinating polyneuropathies include acute (AIDP, Guillain-BarrÉ syndrome, GBS) and chronic (CIDP, dysproteinemic) forms which differ primarily in their temporal profile. They are inflammatory-demyelinating diseases of the peripheral nervous system and likely have an immunologic pathogenesis. Although these neuropathies usually have a characteristic presentation, the electromyographer plays a central role in their recognition, since the demyelinating component of the neuropathy, which greatly reduces the differential diagnosis, is often first identified in the electromyography laboratory. In AIDP, the electromyographer, in addition to establishing the diagnosis, can sometimes predict the prognosis. Recognition of the chronic and dysproteinemic forms of acquired demyelinating polyneuropathy is important since they are treatable.
