    MS. DEPPERT: Welcome back. Before we begin, I\u27d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our second panel of the day, our Consumer Panel, which will discuss Recent Developments in Bankruptcy Regulation, including mortgage servicing rules, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (the FDCPA ), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (the CFPB ). This afternoon we are privileged to have the following distinguished panelists join us. First we have Alane Becket, Managing Partner at Becket & Lee LLP, in Malvern, Pennsylvania, a law firm representing primarily consumer lenders in bankruptcy proceedings. Ms. Becket was elected to the Board of Directors of the ABI in 2009, where she served as the co-chair of the Consumer Bankruptcy Committee from 2009 through 2011. Ms. Becket currently serves on the Board of Directors of the ABI where she is a member of the Executive Committee and Vice President of Publication. Next, we have Nick Wooten. Mr. Wooten is a solo practitioner living in Little Rock, Arkansas, whose practice primarily involves consumer litigation in the Northern District of Illinois, and selected consumer cases in various bankruptcy courts. Nick is nationally recognized for handling consumer claims including claims under the FDCPA and mortgage servicing abuse cases in bankruptcy courts, federal courts and state courts around the country. Third, we have Ms. Sarah Mancini, Of Counsel for the National Consumer Law Center and also an attorney in the Home Defense Program at Atlanta Legal Aid. Ms. Mancini is a co-author of Georgia Real Estate Finance and Foreclosure Law, Collier on Bankruptcy, and National Consumer Law Center\u27s treatises on the Truth in Lending Act ( TILA ) and foreclosures in mortgage servicing. Finally, moderating our panel today we have Professor Frederick Tung, Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Boston University School of Law. Professor Tung is a former law professor at Emory University, and has been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School. Professor Tung researches, teaches, and consults in the areas of corporate and securities law, bankruptcy, and the governance of financial institutions.     Preparation and Evaluation of Silymarin β-cyclodextrin Molecular Inclusion Complexes

    Silymarin is a hepatoprotective agent, having poor water solubility and oral absorption of about 23 – 47%, leading to low bioavailability of the drug. The aim of the present study is to improve the solubility and dissolution rate and in turn the hepatoprotective activity of the drug, by formulating its inclusion complex with beta (β)-cyclodextrin, using different methods. The phase solubility analysis indicates the formation of 1:1 molar inclusion complex of the drug with beta cyclodextrin. Apparent stability constant for Silymarin (Kc) was 722 K-1 with β-cyclodextrin complex. The inclusion complexes were prepared by four different methods, namely, physical mixing, kneading, co-precipitation, and solvent evaporation. The prepared complexes were characterized using differential scanning colorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, and x-ray diffractometry. The inclusion complex prepared by the co-precipitation methods exhibits an overall best result, with respect to the formulation of sustained release formulations

    Hepatitis B virus haplotype number at baseline is a predictive marker of functional cure during antiviral therapy for patients with genotypes A and D HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B

    Backgrounds and Aims: We investigated associations between hepatitis B virus (HBV) genome-length haplotype number (HN) at baseline in subjects with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB), and the likelihood of achieving functional cure during direct-acting antiviral therapy. Method: We analysed 86 HBeAg-positive baseline samples from patients with HBV genotypes A and D who were enrolled in a Phase II trial of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) to determine if HN was a biomarker of HBsAg loss during therapy. Findings were validated using baseline samples from 181 patients with HBV genotypes A and D from an independent clinical trial utilising TDF or tenofovir alafenamide therapy in HBeAg-positive CHB. Results: In the HBeAg-positive test cohort, patients with genotypes A or D and ≤2 haplotypes had a minimum of 21-fold higher likelihood of achieving HBsAg loss on TDF. Baseline HN (p &lt; 0.0001) was a stronger predictor of HBsAg loss on therapy than HBsAg titre (p = 0.03), HBeAg titre (p = 0.0002), or the presence of HBV basal core promoter (A1762T, p = 0.0379 and G1764A, p = 0.0176) or G1896A precore mutations (p = 0.0218). This finding was validated in the independent validation cohort. HN was statistically higher in patients with HBV genotypes B or C infection compared to genotypes A and D. Conclusion: Baseline HN ≤2 predicts which patients with HBV genotypes A or D will more likely progress to functional cure on current direct-acting antiviral therapy, with greater accuracy than current biomarkers including baseline HBsAg and HBeAg titre.</p

    Control and optimization of semi-passively actuated multibody systems

    The controlled multibody systems are under the consideration. At the lecture special emphasis is put on the study of underactuated and overactuated systems having different type of actuators (external powered drives, unpowered spring-damper like drives, etc.). Several questions are addressed about the role of inherent dynamics, and how much multibody system should be governed by external powered drives and how much by the systems inherent dynamics. The lecture consists of the following parts: introduction to the subject in question; mathematical statement of the optimal control problems that are suitable for modelling of controlled motion and optimization of semi-passively controlled multibody systems with different degrees of actuation; description of the methodology and the numerical algorithms for solution of control and optimization problems for semi-passively actuated multibody systems. The solutions of several optimal control problems for different kind of semi-passively actuated multibody systems are presented. Namely, the energy-optimal control of planar semi-passively controlled three-link manipulator robot, the energy-optimal control of closed-loop chain semi-passively actuated SCARA-like robot; optimization of the hydraulic and pneumatic drives of the multibody system modelled the human locomotor apparatus with above-knee prostheses, and others. Future perspectives in area of control and optimization problems of the semi-passively actuated multibody systems are discussed

    Removing the invisibility cloak: Using space design to influence patron behavior and increase service desk usage

    In small branch libraries, patrons seeking assistance from library staff outside of the dedicated single-service desk often results in large staffing inefficiencies. This paper presents a case study in which the authors applied behavioral psychology models to a branch library’s space arrangement to identify possible factors influencing patron service point choices. A subsequent full space rearrangement was instituted which utilized human behavior research, service desk design principles, and low-cost methods to create a space that reduced barriers and influenced patrons back to the main service desk. The paper reports on the 11-month study that followed and the impact the rearrangement had on patron behavior. Results indicate that simple rearrangement of existing furniture and equipment into new configurations have direct influence on service desk usage and can encourage new patron behaviors. Space and human behavior are inherently connected and library managers should establish goals for how they envision their spaces to be used and arrange them in ways that encourage wanted behaviors.Ye

    Sensory Evaluation of Pralines Containing Different Honey Products

    In this study, pralines manufactured by hand were evaluated sensorially. These pralines were obtained from dark chocolate containing 60% cocoa components, filled with Apis mellifera carnica Poll drone larvae, blossom honey and a blossom honey/pollen mixture from the protected region of Stara Planina-Eastern Serbia (a specific botanical region). The objectives of this study were investigations related to the use of sensory analysis for quality assessment of new functional products with potential benefits for human health, in particular of desserts based on dark chocolate pralines filled with different bee products characterized by a specific botanical and geographic origin, as well as of their storage properties and expected shelf life. Sensory quality (appearance, texture, odor and taste were evaluated by a group of experienced panelists immediately after the production (day 0), and then after 30, 90 and 180 days of storage under ambient conditions (temperature 18–20 °C). The results were statistically analyzed by the two-factorial analysis of variance (MANOVA) and with the LSD-test. It is possible to conclude that the storage time and composition of dark chocolate pralines containing different honey-bee products have statistically highly significant (p < 0.01) influence on the sensorially evaluated properties of pralines

    Phylogenetic Analysis of a Spontaneous Cocoa Bean Fermentation Metagenome Reveals New Insights into Its Bacterial and Fungal Community Diversity

    This is the first report on the phylogenetic analysis of the community diversity of a single spontaneous cocoa bean box fermentation sample through a metagenomic approach involving 454 pyrosequencing. Several sequence-based and composition-based taxonomic profiling tools were used and evaluated to avoid software-dependent results and their outcome was validated by comparison with previously obtained culture-dependent and culture-independent data. Overall, this approach revealed a wider bacterial (mainly γ-Proteobacteria) and fungal diversity than previously found. Further, the use of a combination of different classification methods, in a software-independent way, helped to understand the actual composition of the microbial ecosystem under study. In addition, bacteriophage-related sequences were found. The bacterial diversity depended partially on the methods used, as composition-based methods predicted a wider diversity than sequence-based methods, and as classification methods based solely on phylogenetic marker genes predicted a more restricted diversity compared with methods that took all reads into account. The metagenomic sequencing analysis identified Hanseniaspora uvarum, Hanseniaspora opuntiae, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Lactobacillus fermentum, and Acetobacter pasteurianus as the prevailing species. Also, the presence of occasional members of the cocoa bean fermentation process was revealed (such as Erwinia tasmaniensis, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactococcus lactis, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, and Oenococcus oeni). Furthermore, the sequence reads associated with viral communities were of a restricted diversity, dominated by Myoviridae and Siphoviridae, and reflecting Lactobacillus as the dominant host. To conclude, an accurate overview of all members of a cocoa bean fermentation process sample was revealed, indicating the superiority of metagenomic sequencing over previously used techniques
