Primary school teachers’ views on constructive classroom management

Behavioural teaching programmes that had long been used in Turkey began changing in 2005. In a significant development, new programmes based on constructivism have come to the fore. The adaptation of teachers in this transitional process and their internalization of this new approach have been of utmost importance for the success of the programme. Difficulties faced by experienced primary school teachers in particular have become a serious matter that should be qualitatively addressed. This study aimed to reveal the views of experienced primary school teachers (175) about constructive classroom management. Interviews were employed to do so. The study revealed that a large majority of the interviewed teachers considered themselves to be successful at classroom management (thanks to factors like experience, close contact with students, their affection for students, etc.), while almost half of the teachers thought that classroom management had been much easier in pre-2005 teaching programmes. The results also exposed disturbing behaviours, among them students fighting, the use of improper language, disrupting in-class teaching processes and irrelevant talking among students. The coping techniques adopted for these behaviours were warnings, punishment and more enjoyable teaching that incorporated a range of different activities. © 2016, International Electronic Journal of Elementary Education. Vehicle routing problem (VRP); it is defined as the problem of planning the best distribution or collection routes of the vehicles assigned to serve the scattered centers from one or more warehouses in order to meet the demands of the customers. Vehicle routing problem has been a kind of problem in which various studies have been done in recent years. Many vehicle routing problems include scheduling visits to customers who are available during certain time windows. These problems are known as vehicle routing problems with time windows (VRPTWs). In this study, a tabu search optimization is proposed for the solution of time window vehicle routing problem (VRPTWs). The results were compared with the current situation and the results were interpreted

Individualized luteal phase support in frozen-thawed embryo transfer after intramuscular progesterone administration might rectify live birth rate

BackgroundThe serum P concentrations are suggested to have an impact on pregnancy outcome. However there is no consensus about the optimal progesterone cut-off during the luteal phase. Few studies evaluated the effectiveness of a “rescue protocol” for low serum P concentrations and most of these studies used vaginal progesterone administration. There is paucity of data on the effectiveness of rescue protocol using intramuscular progesterone (IM-P) in frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET).MethodsThis study is a retrospective cohort study included 637 single or double blastocyst FETs with artificially prepared endometrium receiving 100 mg IM progesterone (P) after incremental estrogen treatment. Serum P concentrations were evaluated using blood samples obtained 117-119 hours after the first IM-P administration and 21 ± 2 hours after the last IM-P administration. Patients with serum P concentrations <20.6 ng/ml on the ET day were administrated 400 mg vaginal progesterone for rescue.ResultsDemographic and cycle characteristics were similar between patients receiving rescue vaginal P (embryo transfer (ET)-day P concentration < 20.6 ng/ml) and patients who did not need rescue vaginal P (ET-day P concentration ≥ 20.6 ng/ml). Clinical pregnancy, miscarriage, and live birth rates were similar between two groups: 52.9%(45/85) vs 59.6%(326/552), p=0.287; 11.1%(5/45) vs 14.1%(46/326), p=0.583; and 47.1%(40/85) vs 50.7%(280/552), p=0.526, respectively. Logistic regression analysis revealed that the female age (p = 0.008, OR=0.942, 95% CI = 0.902–0.984) and embryo quality (ref: good quality for moderate: p=0.02, OR=0.469, 95% CI =0.269–0.760; for poor: p=0.013, OR= 0.269, 95% CI = 0.092–0.757) were independent variables for live birth. Following rescue protocol implementation, ET-day P concentration was not a significant predictor of live birth.ConclusionsRescue vaginal P administration for low ET day serum P concentrations following IM-P yields comparable live birth rates

FAIR Metadata Standards for Low Carbon Energy Research—A Review of Practices and How to Advance

The principles of Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability (FAIR) have been put forward to guide optimal sharing of data. The potential for industrial and social innovation is vast. Domain-specific metadata standards are crucial in this context, but are widely missing in the energy sector. This report provides a collaborative response from the low carbon energy research community for addressing the necessity of advancing FAIR metadata standards. We review and test existing metadata practices in the domain based on a series of community workshops. We reflect the perspectives of energy data stakeholders. The outcome is reported in terms of challenges and elicits recommendations for advancing FAIR metadata standards in the energy domain across a broad spectrum of stakeholders

The analysis of risk assessment for the transmission of COVID-19 by using PROMETHEE and ELECTRE methods

Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods help researchers in solving many prob-lems in terms of numerical analysis. However, MCDM methods have not been very popular in the health sector. In this study, five ones of Turkey's most intense and highly populated cities were selected and the risk of the spread of Covid-19 disease was evaluated on the basis of seven criteria. The PROMETHEE and the ELECTRE methods were conducted to rank the cities in terms of the spread of Covid-19. The PROMETHEE method correctly ranked the most risky city as Istanbul, but ELECTRE ranked Istanbul the second most risky. The results of the meth-ods are compared with real data. PROMETHEE gave more convenient results than ELECTRE. Also, this paper offers a new field of study to the literature.Cite this article as: Pekel ozmen E, Demir B.
