Behavioral phenotypes of mice lacking cannabinoid CB1 receptors in different neuronal subpopulations
Abnormalities in social behavior are found in almost all psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety, depression, autism and schizophrenia. Thus, comprehension of the neurobiological basis of social interaction is important to better understand numerous pathologies and improve treatments. Several evidences suggest that an alteration of cannabinoid CB1 receptor function could be involved in the pathophysiology of such disorders. However, the role of CB1 receptor is still unclear and its localization on different neuronal subpopulations may produce distinct outcomes. To dissect the role of CB1 receptor on different neuronal population, male mice were used ? knockout mice and their respective control littermates [total deletion (CB1-/-); specific deletion on cortical glutamatergic neurons (GluCB1-/-); on GABAergic neurons of the forebrain (GABACB1-/-); or on dopaminergic D1 receptor expressing neurons (D1CB1-/-)], and wild-type (WT) mice treated with CB1 antagonist/inverse agonist SR141716A (3mg/kg). To elucidate the behavioral effects of specific CB1 receptor deficiency, D1CB1-/- mice were submitted to a battery of behavioral tests which included exploration-based tests, depressive-like behavioral tests, and fear-related memory paradigms. It was demonstrated that D1CB1-/- mice exhibited significantly increased contextual and auditory-cued fear, with attenuated within-session extinction. Also, when all mice lines were submitted to different social tasks, involving male or female as the stimulus subject, GluCB1-/- mice showed reduced interest for the social stimulus, as CB1-/- or WT treated with SR141716A mice. D1CB1-/- showed moderate changes in social interest, and GABACB1-/- mice showed the opposite phenotype by spending more time investigating the social stimulus. In conclusion, specific reduction of endocannabinoid signaling in D1-expressing neurons is able to affect acute fear adaptation. Moreover, CB1 receptors specifically modulate social investigation of female mice in a cell-specific manner. These findings support the involvement of cannabinoid signaling in social alterations in psychiatry disorders
Magnetism in the single-band Hubbard model
A self-consistent spectral density approach (SDA) is applied to the Hubbard
model to investigate the possibility of spontaneous ferro- and
antiferromagnetism. Starting point is a two-pole ansatz for the single-electron
spectral density, the free parameter of which can be interpreted as energies
and spectral weights of respective quasiparticle excitations. They are
determined by fitting exactly calculated spectral moments. The resulting
self-energy consists of a local and a non-local part. The higher correlation
functions entering the spin-dependent local part can be expressed as
functionals of the single-electron spectral density. Under certain conditions
for the decisive model parameters (Coulomb interaction U, Bloch-bandwidth W,
band occupation n, temperature T) the local part of the self-energy gives rise
to a spin-dependent band shift, thus allowing for spontaneous band magnetism.
As a function of temperature, second order phase transitions are found away
from half filling, but close to half filling the system exhibits a tendency
towards first order transitions. The non-local self-energy part is determined
by use of proper two-particle spectral densities. Its main influence concerns a
(possibly spin-dependent) narrowing of the quasiparticle bands with the
tendency to stabilize magnetic solutions. The non-local self-energy part
disappears in the limit of infinite dimensions. We present a full evaluation of
the Hubbard model in terms of quasiparticle densities of states, quasiparticle
dispersions, magnetic phase diagram, critical temperatures (Tc, Tn) as well as
spin and particle correlation functions. Special attention is focused on the
non-locality of the electronic self-energy, for which some rigorous limiting
cases are worked out.Comment: 13 pages, LaTex, 26 figures included (eps), corrected typo
Desain Modifikasi Struktur Apartemen “The Aspen @ Admiralty” Menggunakan Metode Flat Slab Andre Bernandes
Gedung Apartemen “The Aspen @Admiralty”
direncanakan dibangun pada Zona Gempa menengah ( SNI 03-
1726-2002 ) terletak di Jalan RS Fatmawati,Cilandak,Jakarta
Selatan. Desain sesungguhnya dari apartemen ini adalah beton
bertulang. Dalam tugas akhir ini, dilakukan beberapa modifikasi
perencanaan.
lateral seperti halnya gempa.
============================================================================= “The Aspen @Admiralty “Apartment Building will be
built in medium Earthquake Zones (SNI 03-1726-2002) is located
in Jalan RS Fatmawati, Cilandak, South Jakarta. The actual
design of the apartments are of reinforced concrete. In this final
project, will do some modification design. The modification
design using flat slab structure in combination with shear wall
that serves as a lateral force resisting structure. The structure
above the other in the building include columns, edge beams and
drop panels, while the bottom structure using pile foundation and
T-beam as a liaison.
Flat slab structure is widely used in buildings because
some advantages in the aspects of structural and arsitektural.
Floors were obtained broader and higher, finishing the ceiling
is not necessary, cost-effective projects for reducing the use of
concrete and formwork for beam elements. Besides these
advantages, there are drawbacks that resulted in behavior
which is not ideal when the structure receives a combination of
gravity and lateral loads. The weaknesses found in relation
plate-columns, where the bending stress and shear accumulate as
resultant of gravity and moment loads do not draw caused by
lateral loads such as earthquake. However, this weakness can be
overcome by the drop panel. Drop panel is a thickening of the
plate in the column as the shear strength of the shear force
resisting puncher sizeable on the area plate-column relationship.
In the area of potential earthquake as well as most parts of
Indonesia, the behavior is not ideal when the structure receives a
combination of gravity and lateral loads can be retained by a
sliding wall (Shear Wall). In this thesis, the overall planned
Building Frame System (SRG) for SPBL is combined with

structural walls. In connection with that, SNI 03-1726-2012 limit
the use of more specific flat slab structure, namely the structure is
classified as SRPMM (Intermediate Moment Frame System
bearers), and when used as a single system, then the appropriate
seismic design category B and C is not limited and D, E and F
are not permitted. In addition, when used with a special sliding
walls, then the appropriate seismic design category B and C is
not restricted, D restricted to a maximum height of 48m, and E
and F are restricted maximum height of 30
Non-uniform phase synthesis for cosecant-squared radiation patterns
In the present work an analytical formulation to synthesize non-uniform phase distributions at cylindrical apertures is described. Assuming three distinct amplitude distributions, the respective phases are established to provide cosecant-squared radiation patterns. Non-uniform amplitude distributions are investigated and adopted to reduce sidelobe levels and unwanted ripples in the synthesized radiation patterns. Analytical results for the established amplitude and phase distributions at cylindrical apertures are presented. The radiation patterns for such distributions are obtained by aperture method analysis, successfully demonstrating the usefulness of the new analytical formulation

Multi-scale microporous silica microcapsules from gas-in water-in oil emulsions.
Controlling the surface area, pore size and pore volume of microcapsules is crucial for modulating their activity in applications including catalytic reactions, delivery strategies or even cell culture assays, yet remains challenging to achieve using conventional bulk techniques. Here we describe a microfluidics-based approach for the formation of monodisperse silica-coated micron-scale porous capsules of controllable sizes. Our method involves the generation of gas-in water-in oil emulsions, and the subsequent rapid precipitation of silica which forms around the encapsulated gas bubbles resulting in hollow silica capsules with tunable pore sizes. We demonstrate that by varying the gas phase pressure, we can control both the diameter of the bubbles formed and the number of internal bubbles enclosed within the silica microcapsule. Moreover, we further demonstrate, using optical and electron microscopy, that these silica capsules remain stable under particle drying. Such a systematic manner of producing silica-coated microbubbles and porous microparticles thus represents an attractive class of biocompatible material for biomedical and pharmaceutical related applications
