International audienceExpressing the performance of industrial companies is an important feature for their continuous improvement. As the performance concept refers to the objective one, our idea is to relate the performance expression mechanism to that of the objective declaration. We propose a variable tree framework to describe the break-down of objectives and the expression of the performances, highlighting the multicriteria aspect of both the performance and the objectives. Moreover, the temporal aspects of the objective declarations are emphasised, leading to the introduction of both the objective and the performance temporal trajectories. Such trajectories take into account the whole of the temporal horizon that is associated with the achievement of the objective. The link between the provided trees and trajectories is established through the elementary objective notion which corresponds to the leaves of the trees. A conventional recursive depth-first search algorithm is applied to the variable tree for the computation of the corresponding performances, at any considered milestone of the temporal horizon. Finally, the overall throughput time of the hydraulic cylinders manufacturing line of the Bosch Rexroth Company is considered to illustrate the proposed ideas

Towards A System-Based Model For Overall Performance Evaluation In A Supply Chain Context

International audienceThe paper deals with the wide issue of overall performance expression of a system made of interacting entities. Formal aspects of overall performance expression are considered as a first step of this reflection in the context of supply chains (SC's). Indeed, a SC being a network of interconnected business entities, it is proposed to consider it as a system of systems. Because system behavior depends on process dynamics, the performance of any company of the SC highly depends on the performance of its processes. However, while process performance is clearly defined in the literature, performance of complex systems or systems of systems is more difficult to assess due to process interactions. The overall performance concept is usually unsatisfactory either for each company or for the whole SC. To express such performance in SC's, recent proposals have focused on the performance of the prime manufacturer. This performance being linked to the ones of the suppliers, the impact of supplier performances on the prime manufacturer performance has to be integrated. It is therefore proposed to respectively use the SCOR model for describing the involved sub-system processes and, from a computational point of view, to use the MAUT (Multi Attribute Utility Theory) MACBETH methodology to consistently compute the expected performances. More specifically, the Choquet integral is used as the aggregation operator to handle interactions between systems and processes. The case of a bearings manufacturer is used to illustrate the proposal for a supplier selection problem

18th ICPR paper: INDUSTRIAL PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT: AN APPROACH BASED ON THE AGGREGATION OF UNIPOLAR OR BIPOLAR EXPRESSIONS

International audienceIndustrial performance concerns numerous criteria, often in interaction and of complex nature, not related to one elementary measure. Performance Measurement Systems (PMSs) have been developed to support decision-making for reaching the objectives and launching adequate action plans. PMSs provide thus performance expressions which identify objective satisfaction degrees. Two kinds of performance expressions are useful in industrial problems, according to the scale (unipolar, bipolar) that is used for their definition. Moreover, these expressions generally have to be synthesized for global control purposes, determining an overall performance raises the issue of performance aggregation. To address such an aggregation issue, adequate multi-criteria methods need to be implemented. Most of the approaches proposed in the literature either do not provide explicit mechanisms, or rely on too simple methods. This paper deals with the definition of a performance combination based on mathematical tools, especially the generalized Choquet integral to take into account on the one hand criteria interactions and on the other hand both unipolar and bipolar scales. An application to a PMS for the service rate of a SME producing kitchen elements is used to illustrate the approach

How to handle the Decision-Maker's awareness of industrial context in his objectives declaration?

International audienceThis study investigates some new approaches that concern the handling of human considerations in the decision-aiding field. We particularly look for the industrial context change and the awareness of the Decision-Maker with regards to such a change, in his decisions. Beyond the Routine regular situation, three situations are thus considered, namely the Control, the Emergency Crisis and the Loss of Control. A proposition of definition and use of the Decision-Maker awareness is applied to the case of re-declaring initial objectives. Awareness is defined through three parameters which are the Belief, the Level and the Graduality, which make up to the so-called Awareness Unit Cube. This is assumed to be evolving with regards to the Decision-Maker perception evolution. According to the evolving values of these parameters on the one hand, and to the characterisation of the occurred situation on the other hand, mathematical adjustments of the considered objectives values are proposed. Some illustrations of the proposal are extracted from a case study submitted by a steel manufacturer

Auger Resonant Raman Spectroscopy Used to Study the Angular Distributions of the Xe 4d5/2 → 6p Decay Spectrum

The Auger resonant Raman effect can be used as a method to eliminate natural lifetime broadening in resonant Auger spectra. We have coupled this method with high-resolution photons from the Advanced Light Source to study angular distributions and decay rates of the Xe4d5/2→6p resonant Auger lines. The angular distribution parameters β of almost all possible final ionic 5p4(3P, 1D, 1S)6p states have been determined. Our data, which remove the discrepancy between previous lower-resolution experimental results, are compared to different theoretical results

Experimental Verification of the Chemical Sensitivity of Two-Site Double Core-Hole States Formed by an X-ray FEL

We have performed X-ray two-photon photoelectron spectroscopy (XTPPS) using the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) X-ray free-electron laser (FEL) in order to study double core-hole (DCH) states of CO2, N2O and N2. The experiment verifies the theory behind the chemical sensitivity of two-site (ts) DCH states by comparing a set of small molecules with respect to the energy shift of the tsDCH state and by extracting the relevant parameters from this shift.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figure
