Unearthing radial independence for prediction of alpha-decay half-lives
Nuclear radial distance is a prerequisite for generating any alpha-decay
half-life formula by taking a suitable effective potential. We study the
emission process of alpha particles from an isolated quasi-bound state
generated by an effective potential to a scattering state. The effective
potential is expressed in terms of Frahn form of potential which is exactly
solvable and an analytical expression for half-life is obtained in terms of
Coulomb function, wave function and the potential. We then derive a closed form
expression for the decay half-life in terms of the parameters of the potential,
Q-value of the system, mass and proton numbers of the nuclei valid for
alpha-decay as well as proton-decay. From the nature of variations of half-life
as a function of radial distance, we trace the radial independence region where
decay time is almost constant. Finally by overviewing our results and picking
that particular radial distance we predict the half-lives of a series of nuclei
by using the closed form expression.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1612.0414
A New Proposed Cost Model for List Accessing Problem using Buffering
There are many existing well known cost models for the list accessing
problem. The standard cost model developed by Sleator and Tarjan is most widely
used. In this paper, we have made a comprehensive study of the existing cost
models and proposed a new cost model for the list accessing problem. In our
proposed cost model, for calculating the processing cost of request sequence
using a singly linked list, we consider the access cost, matching cost and
replacement cost. The cost of processing a request sequence is the sum of
access cost, matching cost and replacement cost. We have proposed a novel
method for processing the request sequence which does not consider the
rearrangement of the list and uses the concept of buffering, matching, look
ahead and flag bit.Comment: 05 Pages, 2 figure
Synthesis and Characterization of polymer gel electrolyte
A series of PVDF based polymer gel electrolytes (PGEs) with different compositions of O/Na were prepared and the structural, morphological and electrical properties were characterized. For the formation of gel, solvent (i.e. DMF), salt (i.e. NaI) and polymer (i.e. PVDF) were taken as starting materials. By gelation method, different compositions of polymer gel electrolyte were prepared by keeping the amount of PVDF constant and changing the O/Na ratio (i.e. 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100). During the preparation process the polymer: solvent ratio was taken to be 2:3. Three characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM and Dielectric Spectroscopy were used to get information about the structure, morphology; frequency dependent dielectric and conductivity behaviour of the prepared samples of PGE. XRD analysis showed the semi crystalline behaviour and SEM study confirmed the result observed from XRD analysis. The electrical properties were investigated and d. c. conductivity was from the complex impedance plot. The dielectric parameters (i.e., dielectric constant and tangent loss) were also studied in a wide frequency range
Isolation and Characterization of Lectins from Ricinus communis
Lectins are proteins which are well distributed in nature. They are found in both plants and animals but plants are the richest source. On the surface of the cell lectins are attached with their sugar binding site. Lectins are found to be toxic, as it is poisonous it results in the death of cells both in vivo and in vitro. Leguminous plants serve as the main source of lectin, most of the lectins are derieved from seed, present in cytoplasm of the seed. Ricin is the toxic lectin which is derived from the castor bean plant Ricinus communis belong to the family of Euphorbiaceae. The toxicity of Ricin is bound with their two chain A and B chain. The A and B chains of ricin, more toxic to mammalian cells. Lectins exhibit a promising diagnostic and therapeutic approach for treating cancer. The study of this project encompasses the purification of ricin through affinity chromatography, characterization of ricin through haemagglutination assay and SDS-PAGE. The cytotoxicity on cancer cells is yet to be explored in order to showcase its anti-cancer property
