Discrimination and Profit
In this paper I analyze the relation between anti-discrimination policies applied by a company and its profit. Some authors argue that the problem of discrimination should not be approached at the company level, because this will negatively affect its profit, but at the public policy level. I try to show that a company can apply anti-discrimination policies with a positive impact on profit. Policies of the first type have as their aim to ensure fairness in the selection process. Other policies give privilege to the members of discriminated groups in the selection process. At last, companies can implement a minimum quota system for members of a discriminated group. I prove that these three types of policies can positively affect the company’s profit.discrimination, hiring policies, profit maximization, affirmative action, quota system.
Track Reconstruction and Performance of DRIFT Directional Dark Matter Detectors using Alpha Particles
First results are presented from an analysis of data from the DRIFT-IIa and
DRIFT-IIb directional dark matter detectors at Boulby Mine in which alpha
particle tracks were reconstructed and used to characterise detector
performance--an important step towards optimising directional technology. The
drift velocity in DRIFT-IIa was [59.3 +/- 0.2 (stat) +/- 7.5 (sys)] m/s based
on an analysis of naturally-occurring alpha-emitting background. The drift
velocity in DRIFT-IIb was [57 +/- 1 (stat) +/- 3 (sys)] m/s determined by the
analysis of alpha particle tracks from a Po-210 source. 3D range reconstruction
and energy spectra were used to identify alpha particles from the decay of
Rn-222, Po-218, Rn-220 and Po-216. This study found that (22 +/- 2)% of Po-218
progeny (from Rn-222 decay) are produced with no net charge in 40 Torr CS2. For
Po-216 progeny (from Rn-220 decay) the uncharged fraction is (100 +0 -35)%.Comment: 27 pages, 12 figures, 5 tables. Submitted to Nuclear Instruments and

Leadership styles and job performance: a case study of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad / Jackson Gerasi Henry & Noorziah Bigu
This study was carried out to identify the leadership styles and job performance at Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad in which it is very crucial for us to understand the function of the leadership styles and practiced in the huge organization like Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. A total of 220 target respondent from 381 populations in Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad were selected comes from lower middle management to become the respondent of the study. As we concern, a set of questionnaire was designed to gain primary data from the respondents to enable us to identify which leadership styles being practiced at Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. As the result show us that in this Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, the transformational leadership style were practiced a lot in which it impact a great job performance of the staff in the organization. In conclusion, this study will serve as the great reference to those who are interested in the field of leadership and also the management

Case study: student's satisfaction level towards UiTM Sarawak Library's services / Noorziah Bigu, Nurul Ain Yaakub & Frida Jarah David
This paper reports a part of a quantitative study that aims to evaluate the library’s performance by measuring the users’ satisfaction with library services, infrastructure or place or space and collection or information provided by an academic library in UiTM, Sarawak. A self-developed questionnaire was used to gauge the respondents’ opinions on their satisfaction level on the statements regarding the dimensions. The instrument was distributed to a sample of 100 students from differences faculties and also difference gender of the university. The results of the study revealed that the respondents were only quite satisfied with the library services, infrastructure or place or space, and collection or information of the library as a whole. The results also showed significant differences on the satisfaction on services, infrastructure or place or space, and libraries’ collection or information among the respondents
