This study aims to show the thematic similarities and parallels that lie between the narratives of two famous authors of different places, cultures and eras; Miguel Delibes in Five Hours with Mario and Fyodor Dostoyevsky in A Gentle Creature. The study will mainly focus on Five Hours with Mario -for being published more recently- trying to demonstrate the characteristics and features of the theme of the novel as to trace it back and later on to link it to its possible antecedent and source of influence: Dostoyevsky. In the conclusion, the similarities of the two narratives will be analyzed thoroughly according to their thematic aspects as well as the fictional ones as to give the reader a clear comparison of both narratives that are in question
Heat Conduction in Complex Metallic Alloys
Thermal conductivity, κ, of ε-phase Al73Pd25Fe2 and "Bergman phase" Mg-Al-Zn is presented, which resembles the features common to all complex metallic alloys: relatively low value, shallow local maximum or change of slope at approximately 50 K, and a rise above 100 K. The electron contribution, κel, is calculated using Wiedemann-Franz law, while the calculation of the phonon thermal conductivity, κph, below 50 K is calculated employing Debye model. The sum of the two does not explain the experimental data at higher temperatures (above 100 K). This discrepancy is analyzed in three competitive ways: assuming an increase of an effective Lorenz number, taking into account the hopping of localized lattice vibrations, and employing a "bipolar diffusion effect", known from the theory of semiconductors. While the results of the former two approaches confirm other findings in literature, "bipolar diffusion effect" needs to be adopted for the specific electron structure of complex metallic alloys.</p
Thermal Conductivity of Taylor Phase Al3(Mn,Pd) Complex Metallic Alloys
Thermal conductivity, κ, of Taylor phase T-Al73Mn27–xPdx (x = 0,2,4,6) complex metallic alloys (CMAs) has been studied in the temperature interval from 2 K to 300 K. The characteristics of κ are typical for the CMAs: a relatively small value, a change of slope at about 50 K and an increase of slope above 100 K. The value of κ is between 2.7 W/m K and 3.7 W/m K at room temperature. The low thermal conductivity has it’s origin in a complex structure: aperiodic on a short length scale, which leads to frequent electron scattering (i.e. to a low electronic contribution to the thermal conductivity), while the large lattice constant defines a small Brillouin zone that enhances umklapp scattering of extended phonons. Above 100 K the non-extended (localized) lattice vibrations are thermally excited, and hopping gives a new heat carrying channel resulting in typical increase of the thermal conductivity with temperature.</p

Añorando un pasado perdido: Kula 930 y la comunidad judía de Estambul
Kula 930 is a play written, produced, directed, and performed exclusively by members of the Istanbul Jewish community. It was first staged in 1978 and is considered to be the first play in Türkiye since 1947 that was predominantly performed in Ladino (Judeo-Spanish). This study examines the reasons behind the success of the play, from its first rendition in 1978 to its fourth rendition in 2017. The paper analyses the circumstances and the meaning of the play’s language and its characteristics while highlighting the evolution of the play within the socio-historical context of Jews in Türkiye.

Attitudes and behaviors of Croation consumers towards wine purchasing
This paper focuses on the importance of consumers’ habits, preferences and needs in the Croatian wine market to have a better understanding of consumer purchase and consumption behavior. Survey was conducted on Croatian consumers to identify purchasing variables and explain consumer attitudes and behaviors. Along with the online survey, results were also provided using additional journals and research examples. Both measures offered a better understanding of the issues mentioned. Additionally, both may be used in order to implement effective marketing strategies. The results are essential for the preservation of Croatian wine and purchase growth, but also consumption. Moreover, they offer foundations on which to improve Croatian wine offering
Magnon Heat Transport in (Sr,La)_14Cu_24O_41
We have measured the thermal heat conductivity kappa of the compounds
Sr_14Cu_24O_41 and Ca_9La_5Cu_24O_41 containing doped and undoped spin ladders,
respectively. We find a huge anisotropy of both, the size and the temperature
dependence of kappa which we interpret in terms of a very large heat
conductivity due to the magnetic excitations of the one-dimensional spin
ladders. This magnon heat conductivity decreases with increasing hole doping of
the ladders. The magnon heat transport is analyzed theoretically using a simple
kinetic model. From this analysis we determine the spin gap and the temperature
dependent mean free path of the magnons which ranges by several thousand
angstroms at low temperature. The relevance of several scattering channels for
the magnon transport is discussed.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Evaluating the Compatibility of Trichoderma harzianum with Three Commercial Systemic Fungicides Against Some Phytopathogenic Fungi
Background: The compatibility of Trichoderma harzianum with some recent commercial fungicides by combining them to promote an efficacious IDM for controlling plant pathogens and prohibiting chemical resistance evolution in pathogens.
Materials and Methods: laboratory experiments were conducted to study the compatibility of Trichoderma harzianum with three commercial systemic fungicides: Al-Sary (Carbendazim 50%WP), Top Topsin (Thiophanate-methyl 70%), and Tachichem (Hymexazol 30%WP) at recommended doses (2500 ppm for Al-Sary fungicide, 500 ppm for Top topsin, and 1.5 ppm for Tachichem) by the food poisoning technique against six pathogenic fungi: Alternaria sp., Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillu wentii, Penicillium sp., and Rhizopus sp .
Results:T. harzianum displays various degrees of antagonism against the tested pathogenic fungi in dual culture. Asp. wentii was most sensitive to the T. harzianum antagonistic activity, with an inhibition percent of 67.91%, while Rhizopus sp. displayed complete resistance to the antagonistic activity. The results showed Asp. niger, Asp. wentii, and Penicillium sp. were completely inhibited by Al-Sary fungicide. Asp. wentii and Penicillium sp. were totally inhibited by Top Topsin fungicide, Rhizops sp. was not affected by the two fungicides. Asp. niger displays high sensitivity to Tachichem fungicide (87.23%), whereas Penicillium sp. was resistant to the fungicide (0.0%). Tachichem fungicide showed complete compatibility with T. harzianum, but Al Sary and Top-Topsin fungicides were remarkably toxic to T. harzianum. The effect of fungicides on T. harzianum antagonistic activity was estimated in PDA medium.
Conclusion The compatible fungicide Tachichem can be applied with T. harzianum in a comprehensive way to disease control techniques
Amitav Ghosh's The Shadow Lines: Re-Reading its Craft and Concerns
In this essay I examine Amitav Ghosh’s craft and concerns in one of his finest novels, The Shadow Lines (1988). I further explore Ghosh’s organisation of the diegetic elements, such as the novel’s world and situation, events and characters, as well as the mode of telling and recounting the story, and argue how it is designed in conjunction with his central thematic preoccupation. As memory provides the narrative trigger in this novel, I analyse Ghosh’s mnemonic enterprise as part of his narrative management. By using different narrative terms derived from Russian Formalism and Structuralist mediations, the novel’s construction is taken apart to demonstrate Ghosh’s innovative art. Besides dealing with the novel’s narratological technique, this essay looks at Ghosh’s interrogation of cartographic determinations against the background of Bengal’s vivisection into East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and West Bengal and evaluates his espousal of secular tolerance and alternative cartography in a multi-cultural scenario
