Econometric Analysis Of Efficiency In The Indian Manufacturing Sector
Performance in the manufacturing sector, in relation to productivity growth, scale efficiency and technical efficiency in India is dichotomous in nature, depending on whether the firm in question functions in the formal or informal sector. The main differences between these two sectors and the changes over a decade are observed and analyzed, using aggregated data for the entire manufacturing sector in India. Using stochastic frontier approach, and therein the maximum likelihood models, efficiency in the two sectors is compared and verified against factors affecting the levels of efficiency obtained for each major industry category. The results are analyzed against realities on ground-level from a socio-economic perspective.manufacturing, formal, informal, organized, unorganized, returns to scale, technical efficiency, cross-sectional data, maximum likelihood estimation, efficiency gap, India, industries
Stabilised Control of Converter Interfaced DERs for Reliable Operation of Microgrid and Microgrid Clusters
This thesis aims to achieve a stabilised control of converter interfaced DER for the reliable and resilient operation of microgrid and microgrid clusters. The suitability of voltage and current control for VSCs is evaluated and corrective measures are proposed to stabilise converter operation. Furthermore, the accurate power demand distribution in islanded MGs and interconnected MGs are ensured by advanced control strategies. The proposal presented in the thesis is verified both through simulation and experimental work
Investigating the Effects of Environmental Treatment on Social Stress, Depression and Anxiety
In the proposed study we will be investigating how age affects the responsiveness to EE, willingness to exercise, and depression- and anxiety-like behaviors in prairie voles that are subjected to social isolation. Previous research findings show that EE helps in the prevention and remediation of social isolation induced depressive and anxiety related behaviors (Van Praag, Kempermann & Gage, 2000).Therefore, in this study we are hypothesizing that the older prairie voles will be less responsive to EE when compared to younger animals because of less adaptability and flexibility. In addition, older voles will show less remediation of social isolation induced depressive and anxiety related behaviors because of decreased cell plasticity in the brain (Burke & Barnes, 2006). We further hypothesis that older voles will exercise less often when compared to young voles. Methodology This study focuses on young prairie voles (~2 months of age) and old prairie voles (~1 year of age). Male prairie voles of each age group are assigned to 3 different conditions: Old-paired, old-isolated, old-isolated with EE, young-paired, young-isolated, and young-isolated with EE. Isolated animals are housed individually whereas paired animals are housed with a female sibling. In addition to the regular amenities: food, water, and bedding, animals exposed to the EE will receive a running wheel, wood block, a tin foil ball, a cardboard toilet paper roll, mini straw hat, two plastic toys, a small bowl with food pellets, a wood jack chew toy, two marbles, and a plastic igloo house (Grippo et al., 2014). The voles are subjected to the respective conditions for four weeks. The amount of physical activity in the running wheel is measured throughout the 4 week period. Upon completion of the given timeline, the voles are subjected to a forced swim test (FST) and an elevated plus maze (EPM) to analyze their post-isolation depression-and anxiety-like behaviors, respectively. In both FST and EPM, the behaviors of the voles are recorded and interpreted by blind observers. For instance, a vole showing immobility during a forced swim test indicates sign of depression. Similarly, spending more time in the closed arms of the elevator plus maize and seeking cover indicates sign of anxiety
LIVED IN EXPERIENCE OF WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER
ABSTRACTObjectives: Breast cancer is a kind of cancer that develops from breast cells. Breast cancer usually starts off in the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules that supply them with milk. The objectives of the present study are to explore the lived in experience of women with breast cancer and to extrapolate the various dimensions of lived in experience of women with breast cancer. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted in different units of Metro Hospital and Cancer Institute, Delhi. Phenomenological approach was adopted for the study. The sample consisted of women with breast cancer who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. A total of 15 women with breast cancer were selected using non probability - purposive sampling technique. Structured questionnaire was used to assess the demographic variables of women with breast cancer. An interview schedule with open-ended questions was used to explore the lived in experience of women with breast cancer. The collected data from 15 women with breast cancer were analyzed using Collaizzi's seven - step methodological interpretation approach (analysis framework). Results: The investigator explored the lived in experience of women with breast cancer by conducting audio taped interview. Various dimensions such as physical dimension, psychological well-being, dealing with stigma, behavioral dimension, immaterial belief, human connectedness, and economical dimension were identified by the investigator. Under each dimension, sub-themes were formulated based on their lived-in experiences. Conclusion: Nurses working in the different health-care settings have the opportunity to explore the feelings of women with breast cancer and incorporating this knowledge while providing care to strengthen their coping mechanism, improve self-reliance and enhance quality of life. Keywords: Lived in experience, Women with breast cancer, Various dimensions
Review On A Comparative Study Of Various Task Scheduling Algorithm In Cloud Computing Environment
Cloud computing environment is meant to be consistently offering different services at requested time. Availability andwaiting time plays very important role in this. By considering these two factors, scheduling of task with efficient algorithm in cloudenvironment is needed to be discovered and assign that task for execution. In this environment, virtual storage, network and serversare used so resource utilization and paid services should be timely available. In this paper, we will compare different taskscheduling algorithms by considering some basic factors like makespan, request time, turnaround time etc
Antiproteinase and Antibacterial Activity of Pueraria phaseoloides Parts Collected from the Ovitrap with Mosquito Larvae
The globe is progressively turned to find herbal products which are known to be effectual against a wide range of mosquito borne diseases. The present study was aimed to assess the antiproteinase and antibacterial activity of Pueraria phaseoloides plant parts collected from the Ovitrap with mosquito larvae. The antiproteinases are proteins that inhibit protease and modulate immune responses of a living organism. The antiproteinase activity of 6.29 to 92.55 was observed. The Staphylococcus aureus showed minimum inhibition zone of5.1±0.00mm to 37±0.10mm in ethanol extract tested against Bacillus subtilis. The obtained data revealed the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of the sample rich in pharmacological worth
