    Las conexiones entre la Camboya de Ariane Mnouchkine y la de Rithy Pahn: los caminos del arte en tiempos oscuros

    This paper outlines the connections between the play The terrible but Unfinished Story of Norodom Sihanouk, King of Cambodia, by Hélène Cixous, staged by Ariane Mnouchkine (1985) and the documentary film The Missing Picture, directed by Rithy Panh (2013). Narrated from the point of view of a victim of the cruel Khmer Rouge dictatorship in Cambodia (1975-1979), a theme also present in the French staging, the film uses a formal resource seen in the work of the Théâtre du Soleil: inanimate puppets that come to life. We investigate within these pages the power of artistic manifestations as a form of resistance in dark times, looking at possible imbrications between the works analyzed and the current political context, using studies by B. Piccon-Vallin, G. Freixe, H. Cixous, I. Feldman and R. Panh, among others.Este trabajo recoge la pieza teatral La terrible pero Inacabada historia de Norodom Sihanouk, rey de Camboya, de Hélène Cixous, puesta en escena por Ariane Mnouchkine en 1985, y La imagen perdida, de Rithy Panh (2013). La película está narrada desde el punto de vista de una víctima de la cruel dictadura de los Jemeres Rojos en Camboya (1975-1979), tema también presente en el montaje francés, y utiliza un recurso formal visto en la obra del Théâtre du Soleil: marionetas inanimadas que cobran vida. Se investiga en este texto el poder de las manifestaciones artísticas como forma de resistencia en tiempos oscuros, desde una mirada hacia las posibles imbricaciones entre las obras analizadas y el contexto político actual, utilizando los estudios de B. Picon-Vallin, G. Freixe, H. Cixous, I. Feldman, R.     Transient Solution for the Energy Balance in Porous Media Considering Viscous Dissipation and Expansion/Compression Effects Using Integral Transforms

    Monitoring of downhole flowing temperatures in oil wells is gaining attention in the recent years due to the possibility of exploring these data for reservoir characterization and determination of inflow profiles along the well completions, leading to an increased interest in the development of solutions for the equations governing the thermal behavior of a reservoir. In this work, it is proposed to use the generalized integral transform technique (GITT) to provide solutions for the energy balance equation, considering the thermal effects related to fluid flow. A formal and general solution for the energy balance in the porous media is presented and validated. It is presented the application of the proposed solution to one-dimensional and two-dimensional problems in the Cartesian coordinate system. The two-dimensional problem, which considers heat transfer to the surrounding impermeable formations, is tackled by a single domain formulation. The mathematical approach taken in these solutions is rigorous, valid for all flow regimes (transient, late-transient and pseudo-steady-state/steady-state) and for any orthogonal coordinate system, presenting the possibility of achieving differentiable and stable solutions with controlled accuracy. The solution comprises an important contribution to support the application of temperature data to reservoir engineering problems.Indisponível

    Comprehensive Solution for Transient Flow in Heterogeneous Porous Media

    Solutions of the hydraulic diffusivity equation are of utmost importance for many reservoir engineering problems. Despite all the efforts, there is still a need for the development of rigorous and comprehensive solutions for transient flow problems in heterogeneous oil reservoirs. This study demonstrates the use of an integral transform approach to obtain such a rigorous and comprehensive solution for the hydraulic diffusivity equation in heterogeneous porous domain. The reservoir heterogeneities can be approximated by any continuous differentiable function. The presented general solution and its derivation are valid for multi-dimensional problems in any orthogonal coordinate system. It has the advantage of rigorously solving the hydraulic diffusivity equation for transient, late-transient and steady-state (or pseudo-steady-state) flow regimes in a single formulation that allows the consideration of variable flowrates. In this work, applications of the general solution for one-dimensional problems in the Cartesian and radial coordinate systems are presented, showing comparisons of the results obtained with a finite difference numerical scheme. The solution presented can be used to analyze buildup, drawdown and interference test data, making it a useful tool for pressure transient analysis applied to reservoir engineering problems.Indisponível

    O estilo interpretativo de Waldir Azevedo : aspectos técnicos e expressivos

Waldir Azevedo foi o maior expoente do cavaquinho como compositor e como intérprete. A história do instrumento no Brasil é contada em dois períodos, antes e depois de Waldir Azevedo. O que se espera nesta pesquisa é o aprofundamento em questões relativas aos tratos sonoro e técnico por este artista, mapeando elementos que caracterizem sua sonoridade, dado que pouco se tem produzido em relação à performance de Waldir Azevedo, ao contrário dos fatores históricos e biográficos. Waldir Azevedo se tornou um marco na indústria fonográfica brasileira tanto pelo seu enorme sucesso de vendagens quanto pelas novidades dos recursos trazidos em seus fonogramas, principalmente os apresentados durante a década de 1950. Este músico é o principal responsável pela consolidação do cavaquinho solista no Brasil, elevando o status do instrumento de mero acompanhante à categoria de concertista.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES).This paper aims to identify Waldir Azevedo 's interpretative style on the Cavaquinho. Waldir Azevedo was the greatest exponent of the cavaquinho as a composer and as an interpreter. The history of the cavaquinho in Brazil can be organized in two periods, before and after Waldir Azevedo. This research look at the technical and expressive aspects of his musical style, mapping elements that characterize his sonority. Waldir Azevedo became a milestone in the Brazilian music industry both for his huge success in recordings and for the technological breakthroughs used in his phonograms, especially those presented during the 1950s. This musician is mainly responsible for the consolidation of the cavaquinho as a solo instrument in Brazil, raising the status of the mere accompanying instrument to the category of concert soloist

    NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE FLOW AROUND A SQUARE CYLINDER USING THE VORTEX METHOD

    The study of external incompressible flows around bluff bodies finds extensive applicability to real-life problems. Such flows are characterized by unsteady flow separation for high values of the Reynolds number, where a Von Karman-type periodic wake is formed. The prediction of these flows is very difficult, and one has usually to rely on specific experimental data to calculate the aerodynamic forces on the body. In order to numerically simulate this flow, this paper uses a new mesh-free two-dimensional Discrete Vortex Method associated with a Panel Method to calculate the lift and drag coefficients, as well as the pressure coefficient on a square cylinder, for a high Reynolds number flow. Lamb vortices are generated along the cylinder surface, whose strengths are determined to ensure that the no-slip condition is satisfied and that circulation is conserved. The impermeability condition is imposed through a source panel method, so that mass conservation is explicitly enforced. The dynamics of the body wake is computed using the convection-diffusion splitting algorithm, where the diffusion process is simulated using the random walk method, and the convection process is carried out with a lagrangian second-order time-marching scheme. Results for the aerodynamic forces and pressure distribution are presented

O segundo cresce com o avanço dos transportes, com a redução das distâncias, com o aumento do tempo livre e com a melhoria da qualidade de vida, e aproximando os povos e nações e promovendo o retorno do homem à natureza, caminha para ser o primeiro negócio do mundo, no ano 2000. Este artigo analisa as muitas afinidades entre os dois temas e como podem e devem conciliar-se, para constituírem prioridade de desenvolvimento sustentado e de retorno harmônico do homem à natureza.Ecology and Tourism: the two great subjects of the decade.     O artigo tem por intuito ressaltar a importância das representações oriundas de narrativas complexas como forma a suscitar compreensões afetuosas dos dramas sociais, destacando os fluxos migratórios ocorridos na última década, considerados pela ONU o maior deslocamento humanitário desde a II Guerra Mundial, com milhões de pessoas forçadas a abandonar suas casas devido a conflitos armados, violência e violação dos direitos humanos. Embasado em autores como Cremilda Medina, Edgard Morin, Gilles Lipovetsky, Luiz Gonzaga Motta, e Zigmunt Bauman, tecem-se ponderações quanto aos impactos de imagem gerados pela mídia de massa em comparação com as representações oriundas, sobretudo, no universo artístico.     Case Study of an Extreme Heat Wave in Rio de Janeiro on November 2023: Synoptic Conditions and Climatological Trends

    This article is a case study to analyze the synoptic and climatological aspects of an heat wave in Rio de Janeiro, located in the Southeast Region of Brazil, during November 2023. This work aims to investigate whether the high temperatures recorded on November 17 and 18, 2023, during a concert of an American singer, could be considered an extreme weather event. On the first day of the concert, the 17th, many people fell ill due to the extreme heat, and a 23-year-old female died, a victim of cardiorespiratory arrest caused by thermal exhaustion. On November 18, 11 meteorological stations recorded a maximum temperature (TX) equal to or over 40 °C, and the highest TX in the city was 43.5 °C. At a station located in the coldest area of the city, the highest TX (39.6ºC) in its entire historical record (1967-2023) was also recorded on the 18th. Such extremely high temperatures occurred during a prefrontal situation and at the end of a heat wave that lasted eight days. Analysis of the diurnal cycle of the air temperature on the 17th and 18th indicated that the minimum temperature (TN) was about 5 to 6 °C above its climatology; the TX was approximately 13 °C above its climatological value, and high temperatures lasted all afternoon. On the 18th, the Heat Index reached 55.1 ºC at 14:00 and 15:00 LT, characterizing a state of medical emergency during seven hours. In terms of climate, in addition to the increase in intensity and frequency of warm extremes over the city, the El Niño phenomenon (EN) was configured in the Pacific Ocean from April 2023 to May 2024, causing a drier and warmer spring in Southeast Brazil. This concert represented a milestone for the city regarding the need for local public policies to regulate massive crowd-gathering events during heat wave episodes. Finally, it is possible to state that the event was extreme, caused by the combination of a heat wave, in a prefrontal situation, during an EN event, and in a context of climate change
