Psychometric properties of the Emotion Awareness Questionnaire for children
In order to broaden the alexithymia concept, we identified six aspects in a newly developed questionnaire for children which aims to measure emotion awareness: Differentiating Emotions, Verbal Sharing of Emotions, Bodily Awareness, Acting Out Emotions, Analyses of Emotions, and Others? Emotions. First, the six-factor structure of this Emotion Awareness Questionnaire was identified in children (692 children, 9-16 years old), although the scale Acting Out Emotions showed poor psychometric properties. Second, the predictive validity of the Emotion Awareness Questionnaire showed promise with respect to self-reported somatic complaints (in samples from two different countries, the UK and the Netherlands), depression and worry. Only Acting Out Emotions did not contribute to any of the criterion variables whilst Bodily Awareness and Others? Emotions contributed in the unexpected direction. It is proposed that the Emotion Awareness Questionnaire could help to identify which specific elements of emotional (dys)functioning are related to different kinds of psychological problems
Multifractal model of asset returns with leverage effect
Multifractal processes are a relatively new tool of stock market analysis.
Their power lies in the ability to take multiple orders of autocorrelations
into account explicitly. In the first part of the paper we discuss the
framework of the Lux model and refine the underlying phenomenological picture.
We also give a procedure of fitting all parameters to empirical data. We
present a new approach to account for the effective length of power-law memory
in volatility. The second part of the paper deals with the consequences of
asymmetry in returns. We incorporate two related stylized facts, skewness and
leverage autocorrelations into the model. Then from Monte Carlo measurements we
show, that this asymmetry significantly increases the mean squared error of
volatility forecasts. Based on a filtering method we give evidence on similar
behavior in empirical data.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figures, updated some figures and references, fixed two

Internal Structure of Einstein-Yang-Mills Black Holes
It is shown that a generic black hole solution of the SU(2)
Einstein-Yang-Mills equations develops a new type of an infinitely oscillating
behavior near the singularity. Only for certain discrete values of the event
horizon radius exceptional solutions exist, possessing an inner structure of
the Schwarzschild or Reissner-Nordstrom type.Comment: 4.5 LaTeX pages, 8 eps figures, uses RevTeX, boxedeps.tex. 4 more

Renormalization Group Approach to Generalized Cosmological models
We revisit here the problem of generalized cosmology using renormalization
group approach. A complete analysis of these cosmologies, where specific models
appear as asymptotic fixed-points, is given here along with their linearized
stability analysis.Comment: 10 pages, to appear in the International Journal of Theoretical

Localism and energy: Negotiating approaches to embedding resilience in energy systems
Tensions are evident in energy policy objectives between centralised top-down interconnected energy systems and localised distributed approaches. Examination of these tensions indicates that a localised approach can address a systemic problem of interconnected systems; namely vulnerability. The challenge for energy policy is to realise the interrelated goals of energy security, climate and environmental targets and social and economic issues such as fuel poverty, whilst mitigating vulnerability. The effectiveness of conventional approaches is debateable. A transition to a low carbon pathway should focus on resilience, counter to vulnerability. This article draws from on-going work which evaluates the energy aspects of a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project to refurbish and re-build a local authority’s entire stock of sheltered accommodation to high environmental standards. Initial findings suggest that whereas more conventional procurement processes tend to increase systemic vulnerability, a user focussed process driven through PFI competitive dialogue is beginning to motivate some developers to adopt innovative approaches to energy system development. Conceptually these findings strongly suggest that embedding ‘Open Source’ principles in energy system development acts to work against systemic vulnerabilities by embedding resilience
kkw y kkw-zmAw. A survey about darkness concept through the Duat of the Egyptian New Kingdom Books of the Underworld
The New Kingdom Books of the Underworld express incessantly status pre and post transit about Ra through Duat. The context of darkness reverses in light, warm and motion with its presence for the deceased who on earth acted according mAat; the damned, by contrast, suffered the punishment because of their iniquity. Egyptians possessed various words to designate to the idea of darkness but undoubtedly kkw and kkw-zmAw which are the terms that more controversy generates given the lack of limits and eventual overlaps occurring between both meanings. This article proposes, in addition to deepening on the pioneering Hornung´s studies (1956a and 1956b), review both concepts contextualizing them to the New Kingdom funerary literature -Book of Amduat, Book of Gates, Book of Caverns, and Book of the Earth-, and put into consideration the definitions that specifically spaces and precise areas of influence suggest.Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educació
Interacting new agegraphic viscous dark energy with varying
We consider the new agegraphic model of dark energy with a varying
gravitational constant, , in a non-flat universe. We obtain the equation of
state and the deceleration parameters for both interacting and noninteracting
new agegraphic dark energy. We also present the equation of motion determining
the evolution behavior of the dark energy density with a time variable
gravitational constant. Finally, we generalize our study to the case of viscous
new agegraphic dark energy in the presence of an interaction term between both
dark components.Comment: 12 pages, accepted for publication in IJTP (2010
Examining affective-motivational dynamics and behavioral implications within the interpersonal context of pain
Emotional, motivational, and interpersonal dimensions are considered integral to pain experience but have largely been examined separately. In this focus article, we argue that an integrative theoretical account that acknowledges each of these elements is a critical next step to capture the complexity and nuance of interpersonal pain dynamics and to shape future research. The aim of this focus article is to provide a foundation for such an account by drawing upon established insights from appraisal theory of emotion, influential behavioral models, empathy/interpersonal pain research, and social psychology literature to highlight conceptual relationships, potential mechanisms of action, and avenues of inquiry that have not previously been examined in the context of pain. Specifically, we highlight the interpersonal nature of pain and the conceptual relationship between emotion and motivation in pain experience. We discuss an affective-motivational tension between self- and other-oriented goals that can arise within the interpersonal pain context, and how such dynamics may affect the nature and effectiveness of care giving behavior. We then describe the role of emotion regulation and strategies that may facilitate optimal interpersonal pain dynamics and caregiving within a multiple goal context. Finally, we outline a foundation for an integrative theoretical model and directions for future research. Perspective: Drawing upon insights from appraisal theory of emotion, empathy/interpersonal pain research, influential behavioral models, and social psychology literature, this focus article provides a foundation for an integrative affective-motivational account of interpersonal pain dynamics as a basis for theoretical and clinical advancement.
