    Comparación entre la videografía y el método Sit and Reach para la valoración de la flexibilidad isquiotibial en deportistas escolares

    Existen diferentes test para evaluar la flexibilidad articular. El objetivo de nuestro estudio era el de comparar el test de sit and reach y el de goniometría de la rodilla en extensión, mediante videografía para la valoración de la flexibilidad isquiotibial en una muestra de 139 deportistas escolares, de edades comprendidas entre los 7 y los 16 años. El coeficiente de Kappa muestra una concordancia muy débil entre las dos pruebas (0,022 (I.C. 95% -0,07 – 0,12)). Demostrando que el sit and reach no es un test válido para la evaluación de la flexibilidad isquiotibial.There are different test to evaluate flexibility of human movement. The comparison of sit and reach test and videogaphy measurement of hamstrings flexibility was the purpose of this study. 139 scholar football players, between 7 and 16 years old, were evaluated.     Aplicabilidad de la goniometría mediante videografía en el seguimiento de programas de flexibilidad

    El objetivo del siguiente trabajo es el de evaluar los efectos de un programa específico de la mejora de la flexibilidad isquiotibial, utilizando la videografía como metodología para el cálculo del ángulo de extensión de rodilla. La muestra ha estado formada por 75 deportistas escolares con un rango de edad de entre 7 y 16 años. Los resultados nos muestran como antes de la intervención sólo un 5% de los casos era considerado flexible (ángulo<20º). Después de la intervención, el porcentaje de flexibles fue del 21% (p=0,002). No obstante, el 47% de los casos había mejorado su flexibilidad. Esta mejora estaba asociada al género (OR niños vs. niñas 3,7 (IC95% 1,04–13,16)), y a la edad (OR 0,78 por año (IC95% 0,62–0,97)), no observándose asociación con las características antropométricas. La intervención practicada fue efectiva, tanto en relación al aumento de casos considerados flexibles, como al número de casos que habían mejorado su flexibilidad. La posibilidad de mejora de la flexibilidad es mayor en los niños y disminuye con la edad. La videografía es un método objetivo para el cálculo del rango de movimiento, hace posible la comparación visual entre dos tests realizados y permite dar un feedback al deportista.The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of a hamstring stretching program, using videography as the methodology to calculate knee extension range of motion. 75 scholar football players, between 7 and 16 years old, were evaluated. 5% (angle <20º) of the subjects had hamstrings flexibility limitation before the stretching program and 21% (p=0,002) of the total population had flexibility limitations after the program conclude. Nevertheless, 47% of subjects showed increases in their flexibility between first and second assessment. The improvement of flexibility is gender (OR boys vs. girls 3,7 (IC95% 1,04–13,16)) and age (OR 0,78 per year (IC95% 0,62–0,97)) correlated. No association was found with anthropometric characteristics. The stretching program was successful for the improvement of hamstrings flexibility. Boys have greater possibility to improve flexibility and it decreases in relation with age. Videography is an objective methodology to analyze range of movement, allows the visual comparison between tests and gives a feedback to the subject

Per finalitzar, es proposa un exemple de sessió d’aprenentatge cooperatiu i un altre de sensibilització.This article analyses how to approach the physical education subject in the ESO to take part in the including school. Then, the importance of teaching this subject is showed as an integral and transversal way. Finally, an example of cooperative and sensitive learning session is proposed

    Cancer diagnosis in Catalonia (Spain) after two years of COVID-19 pandemic: an incomplete recovery

    Background: This study aimed to estimate potential undetected cancers over the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic in Catalonia. Methods: Cancer incidence was compared between pre-pandemic (2019) and pandemic (March 2020-January 2022) periods in the Catalan Pathology Registry (CPR) according to sex, age, and tumor site. The correlation between cancer diagnosis and COVID-19 health care workload was also evaluated by means of the Pearson's correlation coefficient (R). The expected incident cancers (E) during the pandemic were estimated by applying 2019 CPR cancer incidence specific rates by sex and 5-year age groups to the 2020 and 2021 Catalan population pyramids. CPR incident cancers were considered observed (O). Standardized incidence ratios (SIR) and 95% confidence intervals (as) were calculated using the 0/E ratio. Results: After two pandemic years, cancer diagnosis decreased by 12% (SIR 0.88, 95% a 0.87-0.89), or similar to 7700 undetected cancers (13 000 with nonmelanoma skin cancer). Without nonmelanoma skin cancer, 72% of the cancer underdiagnosis was generated in 2020. Diagnoses decreased more in men (whole pandemic -14%; 2020 -21%; 2021 8%) than in women (---9%, 19%, 3%, respectively), dropping significantly overall in all pandemic waves but the fifth (first -37%, second -16%, third -8%, fourth -6%, fifth -2%, sixth -6%), and across all adult age groups. In the first wave, CPR cancer diagnosis was inversely correlated with COVID-19 caseload in primary care (R -0.91, 95% CI -0.97 to -0.75) and occupancy in conventional hospital wards (R -0.91, 95% a -0.99 to -0.48) and intensive care (R 0.91, 95% a 95% 0.98 to 0.70). Conclusions: Our study evaluated the overall pandemic impact on cancer diagnosis on a large scale and with minimal selection bias, showing that as of February 2022, cancer detection in Catalonia had not yet recovered to pre-pandemic levels. Pending cancer incidence data from population-based cancer registries, early CPR data could inform the development of Spanish cancer control plans

    Las mochilas escolares como factor de riesgo asociado al dolor de espalda inespecífico

    The aim of this study is to explore the existence of low back pain among Mallorcan schoolchildren between the ages of 10 and 12, and to analyse different variables associated with the transportation of schoolbags. This study was conducted using a sample of 137 schoolchildren (71 boys and 66 girls). The schools were chosen using random sampling techniques. The questionnaire and data-collection method were previously validated using the test- rest method. The results show that lifetime prevalence was 69.3% and seven days prevalence 13.9%. The average weight of the schoolbags was 4.83 kg, equivalent to 12.57% of the schoolchildren’s body weight. The 32.1% of participants believe that schoolbags’ weight doesn’t affect to their back health. This study suggests that low back pain is an ailment that affects a large part of the population those aged between 10 and 12 and that the average weight of the schoolbags exceed the maximum values according to avoid negative impacts.El objetivo de esta investigación es estudiar la existencia de dolor de espalda en los escolares mallorquines de entre 10 y 12 años, y analizar las variables referentes al transporte de las mochilas escolares. Un total de 137 escolares integraron la muestra de este estudio (71 niños y 66 niñas). La selección de los centros escolares se realizó por muestreo aleatorio. El cuestionario y la metodología de recogida de datos fueron previamente mediante el método test-retest. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que la prevalencia vital de dolor de espalda fue del 69.3% y en los últimos sietes días del 13.9%. El peso medio de las mochilas fue de 4.83 kg. equivalente al 12.57% del peso corporal de los escolares. El 32.1% de los sujetos afirmó creer que el peso de la mochila no afecta a la salud de su espalda. Este estudio sugiere que el dolor de espalda afecta de manera importante a la población entre los 10 y 12 años y que los porcentajes de peso transportados con las mochilas escolares sobrepasan los valores máximos establecidos para evitar efectos negativos

    MYCN repression of Lifeguard/FAIM2 enhances neuroblastoma aggressiveness

    Neuroblastoma (NBL) is the most common solid tumor in infants and accounts for 15% of all pediatric cancer deaths. Several risk factors predict NBL outcome: age at the time of diagnosis, stage, chromosome alterations and MYCN (V-Myc Avian Myelocytomatosis Viral Oncogene Neuroblastoma-Derived Homolog) amplification, which characterizes the subset of the most aggressive NBLs with an overall survival below 30%. MYCN-amplified tumors develop exceptional chemoresistance and metastatic capacity. These properties have been linked to defects in the apoptotic machinery, either by silencing components of the extrinsic apoptotic pathway (e.g. caspase-8) or by overexpression of antiapoptotic regulators (e.g. Bcl-2, Mcl-1 or FLIP). Very little is known on the implication of death receptors and their antagonists in NBL. In this work, the expression levels of several death receptor antagonists were analyzed in multiple human NBL data sets. We report that Lifeguard (LFG/FAIM2 (Fas apoptosis inhibitory molecule 2)/NMP35) is downregulated in the most aggressive and undifferentiated tumors. Intringuingly, although LFG has been initially characterized as an antiapoptotic protein, we have found a new association with NBL differentiation. Moreover, LFG repression resulted in reduced cell adhesion, increased sphere growth and enhanced migration, thus conferring a higher metastatic capacity to NBL cells. Furthermore, LFG expression was found to be directly repressed by MYCN at the transcriptional level. Our data, which support a new functional role for a hitherto undiscovered MYCN target, provide a new link between MYCN overexpression and increased NBL metastatic properties

    Benchmark RGB-D Gait Datasets: A Systematic Review

    Human motion analysis has proven to be a great source of information for a wide range of applications. Several approaches for a detailed and accurate motion analysis have been proposed in the literature, as well as an almost proportional number of dedicated datasets. The relatively recent arrival of depth sensors contributed to an increasing interest in this research area and also to the emergence of a new type of motion datasets. This work focuses on a systematic review of publicly available depth-based datasets, encompassing human gait data which is used for person recognition and/or classification purposes. We have conducted this systematic review using the Scopus database. The herein presented survey, which to the best of our knowledge is the first one dedicated to this type of datasets, is intended to inform and aid researchers on the selection of the most suitable datasets to develop, test and compare their algorithms.     OC6 Phase Ia: CFD Simulations of the Free-Decay Motion of the DeepCwind Semisubmersible

    Currently, the design of floating offshore wind systems is primarily based on mid-fidelity models with empirical drag forces. The tuning of the model coefficients requires data from either experiments or high-fidelity simulations. As part of the OC6 (Offshore Code Comparison Collaboration, Continued, with Correlation, and unCertainty (OC6) is a project under the International Energy Agency Wind Task 30 framework) project, the present investigation explores the latter option. A verification and validation study of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models of the DeepCwind semisubmersible undergoing free-decay motion is performed. Several institutions provided CFD results for validation against the OC6 experimental campaign. The objective is to evaluate whether the CFD setups of the participants can provide valid estimates of the hydrodynamic damping coefficients needed by mid-fidelity models. The linear and quadratic damping coefficients and the equivalent damping ratio are chosen as metrics for validation. Large numerical uncertainties are estimated for the linear and quadratic damping coefficients; however, the equivalent damping ratios are more consistently predicted with lower uncertainty. Some difference is observed between the experimental and CFD surge-decay motion, which is caused by mechanical damping not considered in the simulations that likely originated from the mooring setup, including a Coulomb-friction-type force. Overall, the simulations and the experiment show reasonable agreement, thus demonstrating the feasibility of using CFD simulations to tune mid-fidelity models.</jats:p
