Lifting problem for minimally wild covers of Berkovich curves

This work continues the study of residually wild morphisms f ⁣:YXf\colon Y\to X of Berkovich curves initiated by Cohen, Temkin and Trushin in [CTT16]. The different function δf\delta_f introduced in [CTT16] is the primary discrete invariant of such covers. When ff is not residually tame, it provides a non-trivial enhancement of the classical invariant of ff consisting of morphisms of reductions f~ ⁣:Y~X~\widetilde{f}\colon \widetilde{Y}\to\widetilde{X} and metric skeletons Γf ⁣:ΓYΓX\Gamma_f\colon \Gamma_Y\to\Gamma_X. In this paper we interpret δf\delta_f as the norm of the canonical trace section τf\tau_f of the dualizing sheaf ωf\omega_f, and introduce a finer reduction invariant τ~f\widetilde{\tau}_f, which is (loosely speaking) a section of ωf~log\omega_{\widetilde{f}}^{\rm log}. Our main result generalizes a lifting theorem of Amini-Baker-Brugall\'e-Rabinoff from the case of residually tame morphism to the case of minimally residually wild morphisms. For such morphisms we describe all restrictions the datum (f~,Γf,δΓY,τ~f)(\widetilde{f},\Gamma_f,\delta|_{\Gamma_Y},\widetilde{\tau}_f) satisfies, and prove that, conversely, any quadruple satisfying these restrictions can be lifted to a morphism of Berkovich curves.Comment: 35 pages, first version, comments are welcom

A Proposed Mechanism for Drug-induced Nightmares

    Get PDF
The following is the introduction of this article: The fields of neuropharmacology and psychopharmacology are known to be highly connected, despite our severe lack of knowledge in these fields. One of the many overlaps between the two fields is sleep, which itself entails many mechanisms and events which are, as of yet, unexplainable. From the perspective of either field, one of the most mysterious events occurring during sleep is dreaming. From the cause of dreams to their content, little is known about them or their more sinister subclassification: nightmares. In this field of disturbed dreaming, neuropharmacology makes a large intrusion into the organized theory of psychology. It has been shown via drug studies that some drugs can cause disturbed dreaming as a side effect of their neuropharmaceutical action or as a backlash of withdrawal (Pagel, 2010a, 2010b). Additionally, it has been shown that REM sleep is linked to dream production (Nofzinger, 1997). These windows into the dream world leads to the suggestion that part of the mechanism for causing dreams is disturbed by certain drugs resulting in hyper-bizarre psychotic dreaming. Perhaps, the specific mechanism that tries to fit the nonsensical stream of neurological data to with the brain’s compilation of expected physical action and reaction has been faulted by the drug, thereby producing such psychotic dreaming known as nightmares

JE LI HOTEL ZA STARIJE OSOBE POTREBA SLOVENSKOG TURIZMA?

This article highlights the answer to the question »Is the hotel for the elderly the need of Slovenian tourism?« Nowadays, it is clear that the familiarization with the needs and understanding of the behaviour of a consumer – an elderly customer – contributes to higher business success, therefore to better and less risky business decisions at all levels of the organisation. The proportion of elderly population is growing; elderly people are a heterogeneous group of people who differ one from another according to their health and functional status, personal characteristics as well as their socio-economic situation. Although a group of elderly people can be quite heterogeneous, it is, however, important to take into consideration some of their characteristics, which have to be adapted to their needs. According to the raising of the retirement age, hotels for the elderly have to offer services to people aged 50 and above, which means that such hotels should not sell vacation arrangements to people younger than 50 years, ensuring the peace required for the elderly. Using a qualitative study, namely a survey questionnaire, we evaluated whether the elderly wanted a hotel which would offer services for people aged 50 and above only; what kind of service they would want and under what conditions they would choose such a hotel. This is a relevant contribution, since it scientifically highlights the understanding of elderly passengers, taking into account their needs and expectations in using tourist services.
