Reclamation of plant wastes (straw) and obtaining (nano) chips with bactericidal properties based on them

Rape, camelina, wheat and Jerusalem artichoke vegetable wastes (straw) as annually renewable raw materials were processed into activated carbons, which were modified with silver nanoparticles for carbonaceous sorbents to acquire specific properties, since carbonaceous sorbents are usually widely used in the food industry, agriculture, medicine and other fields of human activity. The technology to obtain active carbons from agricultural crop residues has been developed, active carbon physico-chemical and adsorption properties, textural characteristics have been studied, new functional carbon (nano) materials with antibacterial activity containing (nano) particles of silver have been obtained, their influence within (nano) chip composition on rape crop growth, development and yield has been studied. In the conducted field tests, the highest activity was noted when using the (nano) chip whose structure included RAC - camelina and silver nanoparticles. Besides, when nano chips are used for seed treatment, the yield increase makes up 11.6 % for nanoparticles containing Ag, for plant active carbons (PAC) (rape) with Ag this index makes up 28.1 %, for RAC (Camelina) with Ag it makes up 55.8 % (compared to the control variant), which can be explained by the differences in the sorption characteristics of the studied radio activated carbons. Our results and the previous studies of other authors can prove the fact that silver nanoparticles (including those being a part of (nano) chips) "get" into the biochemical processes and have a pronounced phytostimulating effect on plants, which was especially obvious when suppressing the activity of plant pathogenic microflora by silver nanoparticles

Highly sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of vanadium in environmental, biological, food and soil samples using orthoaminophenol

A simple, ultra-sensitive and highly selective non-extractive spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of vanadium(V) using orthoamino phenol (OAP) has been developed. OAP reacts in highly acidic (0.005-0.015 mol/L H2SO4) and aqueous media with vanadium(V) to give a chocolate color chelate which has an absorption maximum at 405 nm. The reaction was instantaneous and absorbance remains stable for over 72 h. The average molar absorption co-efficient and Sandell’s sensitivity were found to be 6.7×105 L/mol.cm and 10 ng/cm2 of vanadium(V), respectively. Linear calibration graphs were obtained for 0.02-50.00 mg/L having detection limit 1 µg/L and quantification limit of the reaction were found to be 10 µg/L and RSD 0-2%. The stoichiometric composition of the chelate is 1:3 (Vanadium(V):OAP, v:v). Large excess of over 60 cations, anions and complexing agents (Like tartrate, EDTA, oxalate, chloride, phosphate, thiourea, SCN- etc.) do not interfere in the vanadium determination. The method was successfully used in the determination of vanadium in several standard reference materials (Alloys and steels) as well as in some environmental waters(Potable and polluted), biological samples (Human blood and urine), food samples, soil samples, solution containing both vanadium(IV) and vanadium(V) and complex synthetic mixtures. The results of the proposed method for biological analyses were found to be in excellent agreement with those obtained by AAS. The method has high precision and accuracy (s = ±0.01 for 0.5 µg/mL)

Processing of acousto-optic images at early diagnosis of the functional state of the developing biosystem

The task of studying the embryo development at an early stage is considered. For this, hyperspectral imaging using an acousto-optical tunable filter is proposed. Acousto-optic visualization of the early developmental stages of the loach Misgurnus fossilis embryo showed a regular change in the spectral characteristics of different image areas corresponding to the tissues and body fluids, depending on the functional state of the embryo. This is manifested in the regular arrangement of a discrete set of maxima in the optical absorption spectrum with a distance of 20 and 30 nm between them. Value 20 nm corresponds to the normal development of biological tissue. The appearance of the value 30 nm between the maxima of neighboring optical absorption bands indicates the development of pathological processes in the biosystem. Such deviations from the norm are characteristic of germinal tissues, and they are absent in the perivitelline fluid. Therefore, for the early diagnosis of the physiological state of a developing biosystem, special attention should be paid to optical absorption spectra, in which 30 nm intervals between the maxima of the neighboring absorption bands prevail
