The holographic RG flow in a field theory on a curved background

As shown by Freedman, Gubser, Pilch and Warner, the RG flow in N=4{\cal N}=4 super-Yang-Mills theory broken to an N=1{\cal N}=1 theory by the addition of a mass term can be described in terms of a supersymmetric domain wall solution in five-dimensional N=8{\cal N}=8 gauged supergravity. The FGPW flow is an example of a holographic RG flow in a field theory on a flat background. Here we put the field theory studied by Freedman, Gubser, Pilch and Warner on a curved AdS4AdS_4 background, and we construct the supersymmetric domain wall solution which describes the RG flow in this field theory. This solution is a curved (non Ricci flat) domain wall solution. This example demonstrates that holographic RG flows in supersymmetric field theories on a curved AdS4AdS_4 background can be described in terms of curved supersymmetric domain wall solutions.Comment: 14 pages, LaTe

Potenciometria e Fluxo Subterrâneo no Aqüífero Aluvionar do Baixo Curso do Rio Macaé, Município de Macaé-RJ

Macaé city is inserted in the coastal portion of the Northern region of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The study accomplished in the alluvial aquifer of the Macaé river lower course, whose waters fulfill the domestic needs of a significant part of the rural and peripheral population of the city, comprised the neighborhoods of Córrego do Ouro, Fazenda Severina, Virgem Santa and Aterrado do Imburo. Results comprise the hydrodynamic studies that lead to the elaboration of a potentiometric map in that alluvial aquifer. The potentiometry shows the relationship between the surface and subsurface water. The Macaé River has an effluent character in the studied area. Aquifer recharge is associated to the topographical adjacent higher grounds and discharge is towards the Macaé river channel and river mouth. The hydrographs of water level temporal variation suggest a possible hydraulic connection among the monitored water points, evidencing a lateral continuity in the area

No entropy enigmas for N=4 dyons

We explain why multi-centered black hole configurations where at least one of the centers is a large black hole do not contribute to the indexed degeneracies in theories with N=4 supersymmetry. This is a consequence of the fact that such configurations, although supersymmetric, belong to long supermultiplets. As a result, there is no entropy enigma in N=4 theories, unlike in N=2 theories.Comment: 14 page

Time evolution of the behaviour of Brazilian legislative Representatives using a complex network approach

    Get PDF
The follow up of Representative behavior after elections is imperative for a democratic Representative system, at the very least to punish betrayal with no re-election. Our goal was to show how to follow Representatives' and how to show behavior in real situations and observe trends in political crises including the onset of game changing political instabilities. We used correlation and correlation distance matrices of Brazilian Representative votes during four presidential terms. Re-ordering these matrices with Minimal Spanning Trees displays the dynamical formation of clusters for the sixteen year period, which includes one Presidential impeachment. The reordered matrices, colored by correlation strength and by the parties clearly show the origin of observed clusters and their evolution over time. When large clusters provide government support cluster breaks, political instability arises, which could lead to an impeachment, a trend we observed three years before the Brazilian President was impeached. We believe this method could be applied to foresee other political storms.Comment: 11 pages, 4 Figure
