Electronic Properties of Boron and Nitrogen doped graphene: A first principles study

Effect of doping of graphene either by Boron (B), Nitrogen (N) or co-doped by B and N is studied using density functional theory. Our extensive band structure and density of states calculations indicate that upon doping by N (electron doping), the Dirac point in the graphene band structure shifts below the Fermi level and an energy gap appears at the high symmetric K-point. On the other hand, by B (hole doping), the Dirac point shifts above the Fermi level and a gap appears. Upon co-doping of graphene by B and N, the energy gap between valence and conduction bands appears at Fermi level and the system behaves as narrow gap semiconductor. Obtained results are found to be in well agreement with available experimental findings.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, 1 table, submitted to J. Nanopart. Re

Anonymous Single-Sign-On for n designated services with traceability

    Get PDF
Anonymous Single-Sign-On authentication schemes have been proposed to allow users to access a service protected by a verifier without revealing their identity which has become more important due to the introduction of strong privacy regulations. In this paper we describe a new approach whereby anonymous authentication to different verifiers is achieved via authorisation tags and pseudonyms. The particular innovation of our scheme is authentication can only occur between a user and its designated verifier for a service, and the verification cannot be performed by any other verifier. The benefit of this authentication approach is that it prevents information leakage of a user's service access information, even if the verifiers for these services collude which each other. Our scheme also supports a trusted third party who is authorised to de-anonymise the user and reveal her whole services access information if required. Furthermore, our scheme is lightweight because it does not rely on attribute or policy-based signature schemes to enable access to multiple services. The scheme's security model is given together with a security proof, an implementation and a performance evaluation.Comment: 3

Digital Transformations in Taiwanese TV Industry

    Get PDF
In the past, TV was always regarded as an indispensable member of every family. Watching TV programs with the whole family was once one of the key consumer behaviors. However, with the development of technology, the digital wave and the invasion of Over-The-Top (OTT)platforms, consumer behavior has begun to undergo drastic changes. Mobile phones and tablets occupy most of our time. Multi-screens have long become the norm. According to the Digital Whirlpool report published by IMD in 2019: Due to the impact of digital convergence, digital disruption has already occurred in the media, entertainment, and telecommunications industries. If digital transformation is not carried out in time, the next five may be replaced by other new services . Observe that the number of cable TV subscribers in Taiwan has dropped from 5.23 million in 2017. With the influence of online platforms and online pirated content, it has fallen all the way to the current low of 4.83 million in 2021.Facing the changes in viewers’ viewing behaviors and the shift in TV advertising budgets in recent years, various TV stations have also provided solutions and actively transformed from internal thinking to external environments. TV stations such as TVBS, Eastern Broadcasting Company (EBC), Sanli TV and Ctitv have begun their digital transformation

An Updated Search of Steady TeV γ\gamma-Ray Point Sources in Northern Hemisphere Using the Tibet Air Shower Array

Using the data taken from Tibet II High Density (HD) Array (1997 February-1999 September) and Tibet-III array (1999 November-2005 November), our previous northern sky survey for TeV γ\gamma-ray point sources has now been updated by a factor of 2.8 improved statistics. From 0.00.0^{\circ} to 60.060.0^{\circ} in declination (Dec) range, no new TeV γ\gamma-ray point sources with sufficiently high significance were identified while the well-known Crab Nebula and Mrk421 remain to be the brightest TeV γ\gamma-ray sources within the field of view of the Tibet air shower array. Based on the currently available data and at the 90% confidence level (C.L.), the flux upper limits for different power law index assumption are re-derived, which are approximately improved by 1.7 times as compared with our previous reported limits.Comment: This paper has been accepted by hepn

Measurement of the B0 anti-B0 oscillation frequency using l- D*+ pairs and lepton flavor tags

The oscillation frequency Delta-md of B0 anti-B0 mixing is measured using the partially reconstructed semileptonic decay anti-B0 -> l- nubar D*+ X. The data sample was collected with the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider during 1992 - 1995 by triggering on the existence of two lepton candidates in an event, and corresponds to about 110 pb-1 of pbar p collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV. We estimate the proper decay time of the anti-B0 meson from the measured decay length and reconstructed momentum of the l- D*+ system. The charge of the lepton in the final state identifies the flavor of the anti-B0 meson at its decay. The second lepton in the event is used to infer the flavor of the anti-B0 meson at production. We measure the oscillation frequency to be Delta-md = 0.516 +/- 0.099 +0.029 -0.035 ps-1, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.Comment: 30 pages, 7 figures. A broken "α\alpha-intensity" relation caused by the evolving photosphere emission and the nature of the extraordinarily bright GRB~230307A

GRB~230307A is one of the brightest gamma-ray bursts detected so far. With the excellent observation of GRB~230307A by Fermi-GBM, we can reveal the details of the prompt emission evolution. As found in high-time-resolution spectral analysis, the early low-energy spectral indices (α\alpha) of this burst exceed the limit of synchrotron radiation (α=2/3\alpha=-2/3), and gradually decreases with the energy flux (FF). A tight EpF0.54E_{\rm p}\propto F^{0.54} correlation anyhow holds within the whole duration of the burst, where EpE_{\rm p} is the spectral peak energy. Such evolution pattern of α\alpha and EpE_{\rm p} with intensity is called ``double tracking". For the αF\alpha-F relation, we find a log Bayes factor \sim 210 in favor of a smoothly broken power-law function over a linear function in log-linear space. We call this particular αF\alpha-F relation as broken ``α\alpha-intensity", and interpret it as the evolution of the ratio of thermal and non-thermal components, which is also the evolution of the photosphere. We also show that GRB 230307A with a duration of 35 s\sim 35~\rm s, if indeed at a redshift of z=0.065z=0.065, is likely a neutron star merger event (i.e., it is intrinsically ``short"). Intriguingly, different from GRB 060614 and GRB 211211A, this long event is not composed of a hard spike followed by a soft tail, suggesting that the properties of the prompt emission light curves are not a good tracer of the astrophysical origins of the bursts. The other possibility of z=3.87z=3.87 would point toward very peculiar nature of both GRB 230307A and its late time thermal-like emission.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figures, 1 table. Isoorientin Ameliorates APAP-Induced Hepatotoxicity via Activation Nrf2 Antioxidative Pathway: The Involvement of AMPK/Akt/GSK3β

Oxidative stress has been highlighted as therapeutic targets for acetaminophen (APAP)-induced hepatotoxicity. Isoorientin (Iso), a well-known flavonoid-like compound, has been shown to have antioxidant potential. However, the effect of Iso on APAP-induced liver injury has not yet been elucidated. The present study investigated the hepatoprotective effect of Iso and its underlying mechanism. C57BL/6J mice were used to evaluate the hepatoprotective effect of Iso in vivo and HepG2 cells were utilized to further decipher the mechanisms of Iso -induced Nrf2 activation. We found that Iso treatment significantly reduced APAP-induced hepatotoxicity by reducing the lethality, histopathological liver changes, and alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels in serum. These effects were accompanied by decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) formation and myeloperoxidase level (MPO), and by decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH) depletion. Moreover, Iso induced Nrf2 activation and translocation as well as upstream AMPK/Akt/GSK3β activation. Furthermore, Iso effectively alleviated mitochondrial dysfunction by reducing c-jun N-terminal kinase phosphorylation and translocation, Bax mitochondrial translocation, and apoptosis-inducing factor and cytochrome c release. Further mechanistic investigations revealed that the activation of Nrf2 by Iso via the AMPK/Akt/GSK3β pathway contributed to the hepatoprotective activity of Iso in vitro. In addition, the Iso-mediated inhibition of APAP-induced the lethality, histopathological changes and mitochondrial dysfunction observed in WT mice was nearly absent in Nrf2-/- mice. In summary, Iso ameliorated APAP-induced hepatotoxicity by activating Nrf2 via the AMPK/Akt/GSK3β pathway
