Occurrence of parasitic diseases in sheep and goats in the District Federal, Brazil, during 2003 to 2009

O parasitismo é um dos principais fatores limitantes na produção animal em geral. A ovinocultura e caprinocultura são afetadas por diversos parasitas que representam significativas perdas em carne, leite e lã da cultura. A introdução recente de ovinos e caprinos no Centro-Oeste brasileiro trouxe consigo novas enfermidades antes não relatadas na região. O objetivo deste estudo é descrever a ocorrência dos principais parasitas que afetam os caprinos e ovinos no Distrito Federal e região do entorno e os fatores predisponentes destas enfermidades ao rebanho local, revisando os casos obtidos pela necropsia dos animais no período de 2003 a 2009. Nos meses de outubro de 2009 a julho de 2010 foram revistos os laudos de necropsia da região, em retrospectiva dos anos de 2003 a 2009, à procura das casuísticas por doenças parasitárias. Verificou-se a ocorrência de endoparasitoses e ectoparasitoses em pequenos ruminantes. Os principais parasitas encontrados foram o Haemonchus contortus e Oestrus ovis nas duas culturas, porém Oesophagostomun sp. ocorreu apenas em ovinos. Encontrou-se maior ocorrência de Haemonchose na estação chuvosa do Cerrado. Este é o primeiro trabalho epidemiológico descritivo sobre parasitismo em cabras e ovelhas na região.Parasitism is a major factor limiting livestock production in general. The goat and sheep industry are affected by many parasites representing significant losses in meat, milk and wool culture. The recent introduction of sheep and goats in the Brazilian Midwest region brought with them new diseases not previously reported in the region. The aim of this study is to describe the occcurrence of major parasites, affecting sheep and goats in the Federal District and surrounding areas, and predisposing factors of these diseases to local herd reviewing cases obtained by necropsy of animals in the period 2003 to 2009. From October 2009 to July 2010 were reviewed the necropsy reports of the region in retrospect the years 2003 to 2009 looking for the demand for case studies of parasitic diseases. It was found to occcur of ectoparasitosis and endoparasitosis in small ruminants. The main parasites found were Haemonchus contortus and Oestrus ovis in both cultures, however Oesophagostomun sp. occcurred only in sheep. There was a higher occcurrence of Haemonchose in the rainy season in the Cerrado. This is the first epidemiological research of parasitism in goats and sheep in the region

Evidence for a meteoritic origin of the September 15, 2007, Carancas crater

On September 15th, 2007, around 11:45 local time in Peru, near the Bolivian border, the atmospheric entry of a meteoroid produced bright lights in the sky and intense detonations. Soon after, a crater was discovered south of Lake Titicaca. These events have been detected by the Bolivian seismic network and two infrasound arrays operating for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, situated at about 80 and 1620 km from the crater. The localization and origin time computed with the seismic records are consistent with the reported impact. The entry elevation and azimuthal angles of the trajectory are estimated from the observed signal time sequences and backazimuths. From the crater diameter and the airwave amplitudes, the kinetic energy, mass and explosive energy are calculated. Using the estimated velocity of the meteoroid and similarity criteria between orbital elements, an association with possible parent asteroids is attempted. The favorable setting of this event provides a unique opportunity to evaluate physical and kinematic parameters of the object that generated the first actual terrestrial meteorite impact seismically recorded

Underground waters: changes in groundwater policies

The 1988 Constitution of Brazil used the expression “water resources”, not translating its economic use, but as being for the general enjoyment of the collectivity, the populace. Debates on issues related to underground water availability as another source of the water supply have raised major concerns about the quantity, quality and depletion of this resource. Even using this tuning fork, this hydrogeological body of water remains in a situation of scarcity, in the same way as the superficial waters, because the knowledge of the subject is still hindered. In Brazil, for example, the distribution of water is far from homogeneous, although there is a government effort to protect this reservoir. The greatest challenge in terms of water resources conservation lies in the lack of effective mechanisms to control, protect and use these natural resources without impeding the economic growth of the country. On the other hand, the concept of there being a water crisis goes beyond scarcity, resulting from a combination of governance failures, environmental preservation, sustainability issues and disparity in access to water. While the human right to water requires the use of this sensitive and exhaustible resource, there is an obligation for states to ensure there is secure access and secure storage, and there is a need for a more active role of sustainability to be present in society at large; however, the underground water use and management reiterate the same flaws that lead to surface water degradation. In addition, the deliberate use of groundwater requires rational actions, as resource allocation is as important in equity, which is often crucial in governance decisions. In order to understand groundwater policies, it is imperative to understand the structure and actual sequence of events by analyzing the factors or attributes that make groundwater management successful in some regions, but not others

O ensino das Artes Visuais e do Design: o campo da História como estratégia de pesquisa

This article deals with a theoretical study that aims to bring Teaching of the Visual Arts and Design anchored from a third field, that of History, with regard to the domain of the History of Education shaped by the theoretical-methodological approach of Cultural History. In this context, a survey of research data concerning the field of Design produced in the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts (PPGAV), of Line Art Education and Aesthetic Education, of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), was carried out between 2012 and 2018. From the analysis of the investigated data, it was possible to reflect on the overlap that is of interest in this study, the relationship between Art, Teaching and Design, and consider that in PPGAV / UFPel there was a teaching proposal, arising from the Teaching of Visual Arts, aimed at scope of the aesthetic and the sensitive for the field of Design.Este artículo trata de un estudio teórico que tiene como objetivo reunir la Enseñanza de las Artes Visuales y el Diseño anclado desde un tercer campo, el de la Historia, en el que concierne al dominio de la Historia de la Educación conformado por el enfoque teórico-metodológico de la Historia Cultural. En este contexto, se realizó una recopilación de datos de investigaciones sobre el campo del Diseño producidas en el Programa de Posgrado en Artes Visuales (PPGAV), de la Línea Enseñanza de Arte y Educación Estética, de la Universidad Federal de Pelotas (UFPel), con periodicidad entre 2012 y 2018. A partir del análisis de los datos investigados, fue posible reflexionar sobre la superposición que es de interés en este estudio, la relación entre Arte, Enseñanza y Diseño, y considerar que en PPGAV / UFPel había una propuesta de enseñanza, derivada de la Enseñanza de Artes Visuales, centrada en el alcance de lo estético y lo sensible para el campo del diseño.Esse artigo trata de um estudo teórico que visa aproximar Ensino das Artes Visuais e do Design ancorado a partir de um terceiro campo, o da História, no que diz respeito ao domínio da História da Educação formatado pela abordagem teórico-metodológica da História Cultural. Nesse contexto, foi realizado um levantamento de dados de pesquisas concernentes ao campo do Design produzidas no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Visuais (PPGAV), da Linha Ensino da Arte e Educação Estética, da Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel), com periodicidade entre 2012 e 2018. A imprensa, utilizada como objeto e como fonte de pesquisa, têm oferecido novas possibilidades de análise no campo da História da Educação. Este artigo diz respeito ao percurso teórico-metodológico de uma pesquisa, a qual possui a imprensa periódica, especificamente a revista Bravo!, como objeto e como fonte de investigação. A revista Bravo! consiste em um impresso periódico mensal voltado à cultura. Pretende-se apresentar o objeto e, alicerçado nas fontes, realizar uma descrição analítica do processo de pesquisa. Nesse momento, estudos sobre o uso de periódicos como fonte documental e objeto de pesquisa, serão considerados

Arte e História: uma aproximação que perpassa a categoria “território” e a obra de Tarsila

O presente texto busca aproximar o campo da Arte e o campo da História, apontando para a análise iconográfica como possibilidade de pesquisa. Tal aproximação é proposta a partir da obra de uma artista consagrada na História da Arte, a artista Tarsila do Amaral, especificamente naquilo que concerne às questões de seu “território”. Objetiva-se pensar sobre o espaço da mulher na História da Arte, propriamente como uma mulher torna-se artista e o que ela tem a dizer com a sua obra. As obras escolhidas para esse artigo são A Negra (1923), Morro da favela (1924) e A Lua (1928), as quais representam três fases da produção pictórica da artista. Como fundamentação teórico-metodológica será realizada uma revisão bibliográfica acerca do conceito de “território”, questões do campo da História, leitura de imagem e sobre a biografia e obra de Tarsila. Ao fim, verificou-se que o acesso à educação e reproduções feitas por Tarsila despertaram o desejo de ser artista e que as três pinturas analisadas são permeadas pelo conceito de “território”

Characterizing swells in the southern Pacific from seismic and infrasonic noise analyses

International audienceA temporary network of 10 broad-band seismic stations has been installed in French Polynesia for the Polynesian Lithosphere and Upper Mantle Experiment (PLUME). All the seismic stations were installed either on volcanic islands or on atolls of the various archipelagos of French Polynesia in a manner which complements the geographic coverage provided by the regional permanent stations. The primary aim of PLUME is to image the upper mantle structures related to plate motion and hotspot activity. However, because of its proximity to all sites, the ocean is responsible for a high level of noise in the seismic data and we show that these data can also be used to analyse ocean wave activity. The power spectral density (PSD) analyses of the seismic data recorded in French Polynesia show clear peaks in the 0.05– 0.10 Hz band (periods between 10 and 20 s), which corresponds to swell frequencies. Clear peaks in this frequency band are also observed in infrasonic data recorded on Tahiti. Ground motion analysis shows that the swell-related seismic noise (SRSN) is linearly polarized in the horizontal plane and its amplitude decreases rapidly with the distance from the shore. The microseismic and the infrasonic 'noise' amplitudes show very similar variations from station to station and both are strongly correlated with the swell amplitudes predicted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), wind-forced, 'WaveWatch' models. The swell direction can be estimated from SRSN polarization analysis but this has to be done with care since, for some cases, the ground motions are strongly controlled by the islands' anisometric shapes and by swell refraction processes. We find cases, however, such as Tahiti or roughly circular Tuamotu atolls, where the azimuth of the swell is in good agreement with the seismic estimates. We, therefore, demonstrate that the SRSN and the infrasonic signal observed in French Polynesia can be used in such cases as a proxy for swell amplitude and azimuth. From the continuous analysis of the data recorded in 2003 at the permanent seismic station PPTL in Tahiti, transfer functions have been obtained. This could provide a way to quantify the swell activity during the last two decades and, therefore, assist in the investigation of climate changes

“No canto do mundo do capital”: sobre experiência, educação e arte

Este artigo apresenta uma discussão a partir de uma prática permeada pelo conceito de experiência e pela sensibilidade. Para isso, o conceito de experiência é revisitado em autores como Jorge Larrosa (2015), Walter Benjamin (1994) e John Dewey (2010; 2011) e a “educação (do) sensível” é fundamentada a partir da reflexão de João Francisco Duarte Júnior (2010), voltada aos campos da Educação e da Arte. A prática ocorreu em um shopping em busca de experiência, foi nomeada como “No canto do mundo do capital”, narrada no segundo momento do texto. Como fechamento, um eixo de sistematização da experiência relacionado aos aspectos sociais se desdobra para o campo da Arte, especificamente relacionado a categorias de obras dos artistas Andy Warhol (1928 – 1987), Maryam Jafri (1972), Andreas Gursky (1955), Albrecht Dürer (1471 – 1528), David Hockney (1937), Jeff Wall (1946), Nam June Paik (1932 – 2006) e Bruce Nauman (1941), e possibilita pensar em Educação. Nessa discussão, será estabelecida à prática uma relação teórico-reflexiva que a aponte como “experiência”

Poética na docência [corpo e território]

This research is the result of the recognition and subsequent reflection on experiences lived in two territories belonging to the field of art, individual and private, inhabited by the artist, and the collective and socialized, inhabited by the teacher. More than each is the approach of two subjects, which are and emerge in these two territorial experiences, that is, the process of "repossession" when can emerge the artist-teacher, subject compound that is established in its making and in their thinking, to everyday presence here is named as poetic in teaching (and not the poetics of teaching, which forwards the discussion to another approach). To make way for such emersion, performed the difficult return to work in the studio immersive, aiming repossess the artist that I am, the reunion with my poetic, and understanding of certain "particular poetic thought," presupposed by the art field. Being made the poetic route necessarily research, this route fraught certainly theoretical context, we selected two relevant categories, the "body" and "territory", with whom I discussed the pedagogical practice involving the art. Wider issues arising from the presupposed insistence at this process of research on the empire of the capital, on the commercial exploitation of the body, on the language of photography (his poetics and its use in social networks) as well as the possibility of considering the territory as an appropriation of space, walking as a way of making art, allies, categories such as territory, displacement, memory and experience, are always discussed around those two categories elected since my visual poetry do ("body" and "territory"). With specific regard to the Art Education, micro intervention proposals, aimed at school space, in workshops form, worked as planning to confirm some convictions. The method of mapping and A/R/Thrography were incorporated as methodological procedures. This research is presented in essayistic text, enhancing the reflection in the first person; and follows a reflective thought, rhizome, built from theorizing authors of Art, Education, Literature, Philosophy and Sociology fields. Authors from different times, from different nationalities, and even different theoretical status. Are interpolated as supporting the reflective thinking here in language as made. They are: Katia Canton, Philippe Dubois, Luciano Vinhosa, Paula Sibilia, Henry Rousso, Denise Sant’anna, Michel Foucault, Pierre Nora, Roland Barthes, Guy Debord, Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari, Suely Rolnik, Virgínia Kastrup, Jorge Larrosa, Henri Bergson, Zygmunt Bauman, Belidson Dias and Rita Irwin.A presente pesquisa é resultado do reconhecimento e da posterior reflexão sobre experiências vivenciadas em dois territórios pertencentes ao Campo da Arte, o individual e privado, habitado pelo artista, e o coletivo e socializado, habitado pelo professor. Mais que de cada um é da aproximação de dois sujeitos, que constituem e se emergem nessas duas experiências territoriais, isto é, do processo de “reterritorialização”, quando pode emergir o artista-professor, sujeito composto que se instaura, em seu fazer e em seu pensar, para a presença cotidiana do que aqui se nomeia como poética na docência (e não a poética da docência, que encaminharia a discussão para outra abordagem). Para dar lugar a tal emersão, cumpri a difícil volta ao trabalho imersivo no ateliê, objetivando reaver a artista que sou, o reencontro com minha poética, e na compreensão de certo "pensamento poético particular", pressuposto pelo Campo da Arte. Sendo feito o percurso poético necessariamente de pesquisa, esse percurso carreado por certo contexto teórico, foram selecionadas duas categorias relevantes, o "corpo" e o "território", com as quais abordei a prática pedagógica envolvendo a Arte. Questões mais amplas, decorrentes da insistência pressuposta a esse processo de pesquisa, sobre o império do capital, sobre a exploração comercial do corpo, sobre a linguagem da fotografia (sua poética e seu uso nas redes sociais), bem como a possibilidade de considerar o território como um “espaço de apropriação”, o caminhar como uma forma de fazer arte, aliados, a categorias como território, deslocamento, memória e experiência, são discutidas sempre em torno daquelas duas categorias eleitas desde meu fazer poético visual ("corpo" e "território"). No que concerne especificamente ao Ensino da Arte, propostas de microintervenção, voltadas ao espaço escolar, em forma de oficinas, serviram de planejamento para confirmar algumas convicções. O método da cartografia e da A/R/Tografia foram incorporadas como procedimentos metodológicos. Esta pesquisa é apresentada em texto ensaístico, valorizando a reflexão em primeira pessoa; e segue um pensamento reflexivo, rizomático, construído a partir de teorizações de autores dos Campos da Arte, da Educação, da Literatura, da Filosofia e da Sociologia. Autores de diferentes épocas, de diferentes nacionalidades, e mesmo de diferentes status teórico. São interpolados na medida em que apoiam o pensamento reflexivo que, aqui, em linguagem, se faz.
