The Trypanosoma cruzi enzyme TcGPXI is a glycosomal peroxidase and can be linked to trypanothione reduction by glutathione or tryparedoxin.

Trypanosoma cruzi glutathione-dependent peroxidase I (TcGPXI) can reduce fatty acid, phospholipid, and short chain organic hydroperoxides utilizing a novel redox cycle in which enzyme activity is linked to the reduction of trypanothione, a parasite-specific thiol, by glutathione. Here we show that TcGPXI activity can also be linked to trypanothione reduction by an alternative pathway involving the thioredoxin-like protein tryparedoxin. The presence of this new pathway was first detected using dialyzed soluble fractions of parasite extract. Tryparedoxin was identified as the intermediate molecule following purification, sequence analysis, antibody studies, and reconstitution of the redox cycle in vitro. The system can be readily saturated by trypanothione, the rate-limiting step being the interaction of trypanothione with the tryparedoxin. Both tryparedoxin and TcGPXI operate by a ping-pong mechanism. Overexpression of TcGPXI in transfected parasites confers increased resistance to exogenous hydroperoxides. TcGPXI contains a carboxyl-terminal tripeptide (ARI) that could act as a targeting signal for the glycosome, a kinetoplastid-specific organelle. Using immunofluorescence, tagged fluorescent proteins, and biochemical fractionation, we have demonstrated that TcGPXI is localized to both the glycosome and the cytosol. The ability of TcGPXI to use alternative electron donors may reflect their availability at the corresponding subcellular sites

Optimal Cutting of Lumber and Particleboards into Dimension Parts: Some Algorithms and Solution Procedures

This paper describes some algorithms and procedures that can be used for determining the optimal cutting of lumber or composite boards into dimension or furniture parts. Methodologies are described for various production scenarios: 1) cutting when the direction of the grain matters (e.g., lumber), 2) cutting composite boards where grain direction does not matter, 3) rip-first cutting, 4) crosscut-first cutting, and 5) a combination of rip-first and crosscut-first. An algorithm for optimizing the cutting of all lumber types while at the same time satisfying a given order of dimension parts is also described. The models can be used interactively for comprehensive optimization of cutting a mix of lumber as shown by the two-stage decision model, or the double knapsack algorithms could be used as stand alone models for optimizing the cutting of individual lumber

Classificação das álgebras de Artin a partir dos ext-projetivos na parte direita de suas categorias de módulos.

Resumo: Motivados pela definição de álgebras suportadas proposta por Assem em [2], apresentamos uma tentativa de classificar as álgebras de artin hereditárias, quasi-inclinadas e laura estritas a partir dos Ext-projetivos na parte direita de suas categorias de módulos (ou, dualmente, Ext-injetivos na parte esquerda). Para isso, estabelecemos inicialmente algumas caracterizações tanto para as partes esquerda e direita da categoria de módulos definidos sobre uma álgebra de artin, quanto para seus módulos Ext-injetivos e Extprojetivos, respectivamente. Além disso, são descritos os quivers de Auslander-Reiten de álgebras laura estritas e, consequentemente, de álgebras fracamente shod estritas. Por fim, demonstramos alguns resultados referentes às álgebras suportadas

Instituição escolar sob a perspectiva de Foucault e Goffman

Ao analisar a escola sob a ótica do poder disciplinar de Foucault e da teoria da instituição total de Goffman, verifica-se que em ambas as teorias a instituição se conforma na ideia de confinamento que visa a correção e (re) socialização a partir de uma lógica de controle e de um sentimento de constante vigilância que obriga a todos a seguirem normativas e regulamentos, garantindo que nada saia daquilo que foi planejado. Assim como tantas outras instituições, isso ocorre também nas escolas, onde os indivíduos são dispostos em um espaço de modo que a instituição possa esquadrinhar suas ações e comportamentos para assim definir o indivíduo e a sociedade como um todo. Assim a escola com o propósito de correção e reforma submete o indivíduo a um poder normalizador que irá percorrer todas as relações que ocorrem no espaço escolar, criando padrões e condutas que devem ser seguidas, punindo os transgressores que fugirem as regras, processo esse rigorosamente controlado e vigiado. Assim o processo de ensino desempenhado dentro da escola é caracterizado por uma fiscalização e rigoroso controle ao objetivar a construção do saber e formação da conduta do indivíduo. Dessa maneira a escola é um espaço disciplinar que constitui o saber e a noção que há um controle e vigilância constante em toda a nossa sociedade.Abstract: Assuming that both Foucault and Goffman analyze the construction of the individual and their knowledge, from standards and specific regulations imposed by institution, a process develops in a confined space characterized by an extensive surveillance and control, the objective is to move this idea school reality, and demonstrate how is your organization from these two theories. By analyzing the school from the perspective of disciplinary power Foucault and the theory of total Goffman institution, it turns out that in both theories institution conform the idea of containment aimed at correction and (re) socialization from a logic control and a sense of constant vigilance to compel them to follow norms and regulations, ensuring that nothing goes what was planned. Like so many other institutions, it also occurs in schools, where individuals are arranged in a space so that the institution can scan their actions and behaviors to thus define the individual and society as a whole. So the school for the purpose of correction and reform subjecting the individual to a normalizing power that will go all the relationships that occur at school, creating patterns and behaviors that must be followed, punishing wrongdoers to escape the rules, a process strictly controlled and watched. So the teaching process performed within the school is characterized by a supervision and strict control by targeting the construction of knowledge and training of the conduct of the individual. In this way the school is a disciplinary space that constitutes the knowledge and the notion that there is a control and constant surveillance throughout our society

Primeiramente é estudada a formação da italianidade na Itália através da análise de questões sobre os nacionalismos do século XIX e o processo de construção da nação italiana. Posteriormente é estudada a formação da italianidade brasileira através da análise do processo migratório e da colonização até a renovação do elo com a Itália, momento o qual os descendentes buscam na viagem à Itália uma forma de estabelecer um contato direto com a cultura italiana. O trabalho de campo descreve como a experiência de ida à Itália se constitui enquanto um processo de construção identitária, o qual pode funcionar como uma nova leitura da italianidade.Abstract: The present work analyses what Italian-brazilians search when they travel to Italy and what they find when they get there. Firstly, it is studied the formation of the Italian national identity through the analysis of matters on the XIX century nationalisms and the construction of the Italian nation. It is studied afterwards the formation of the Italian national identity in Brazil through the analysis of the migration and colonization process until the renewal of the cultural bonds with Italy, a moment where Italian-brazilians search a way to establish a direct contact with the Italian culture by travelling to Italy. The field work describes how the experience of travelling to Italy becomes an identity construction process, which may work as a new reading of the Italian national identity

A Dama do Mar de Ibsen : uma recriação cênica por Bob Wilson no Brasil

Defesa: Curitiba, 31/10/2016Inclui referências : f. 165-168Resumo: A montagem teatral realizada por Robert Wilson a partir do texto-fonte A dama do mar (1888), de Henrik Ibsen, e de sua reescritura por Susan Sontag (1997) coloca em foco elementos como a voz, a luz, o cenário, a movimentação, a sonoplastia, ou seja, dá ênfase à visualidade e sonoridade. Este estudo analisa os mecanismos utilizados na transposição da obra original para a obra final, passando pela adaptação textual por Sontag, no contexto dos estudos da adaptação. É analisado o processo como a peça é transformada a partir das escolhas de Sontag, como os monólogos de frente para a plateia e a inclusão de textos folclóricos, e da estética de Wilson, que potencializa o substrato simbólico da peça com seu cenário e iluminação repletos de poesia, atuações que simulam o movimento de marionetes, gestual preciso e diálogos e movimentos propositadamente artificiais. Dentre os recursos utilizados para a análise, destaca-se a gravação em DVD do espetáculo apresentado em São Paulo em 2013 e a memória do espetáculo assistido ao vivo pela autora no mesmo ano; a peça de Susan Sontag publicada no Brasil pela editora n-1; entrevistas com atores da montagem, com o tradutor do texto de Sontag e o biógrafo da escritora, entre outras, e críticas sobre o espetáculo publicadas na mídia geral e especializada. Teatro contemporâneo.Abstract: The staging by Robert Wilson using the source text The Lady from the Sea, by Henrik Ibsen (1888), and its rewrite by Susan Sontag (1997) highligths elements such as voice, scenery, sound, lights and movement, which means it emphasizes visuality and sonorical aspects. This study analyzes the mechanisms used in the transposition of the original play to the final work, by means of the textual adaptation by Sontag, in the context of the studies of adaptation. The play is transformed because of Sontag's choices, such as the monologues facing the public and the insertion of folk texts. It is furthermore transformed by Wilson's aesthetics, which empowers the simbolic substrate of the original play with his scenery and lights full of poetry, acting that reminds the movement of puppets, precise gesture and artificial dialogue. Among the resources used for this analysis are the recording of the play presented in São Paulo in 2013 as well as the memory of the live show to wich the author attended in the same year; Susan Sontag's Lady from the Sea, published in Brazil by n-1 editions; interviews with actors from the play, its translator to Portuguese and Sontag's biographer, among others, and critic texts about the staging published in the general and specialized media.
