    The antecedents of direct management communication to employees in Mauritius

    We measure whether, in a developing country, existence of a ‘hard’ strategic human resource management (SHRM) strategy developed at high organizational levels or one designed to enhance employee knowledge inputs and thereby promote employer–employee interdependence (EEIN) is a stronger antecedent of direct communication to employees. We use data from a comprehensive survey of HR practices in Mauritius, one of Africa’s most open and successful economies. We find that both SHRM and EEIN are antecedents, but that the latter is stronger in public organizations and in smaller and older companies. We conclude that EEIN is a significant analytic category for explaining management practices especially in a historic sense in this and possibly other developing country contexts

    Museums? Evidence from two Countries

    This paper provides evidence on Young Adults’ motivations for visiting and not visiting museums. Using purposive sampling, self-administered questionnaires were distributed to respondents in Kedah, Malaysia and Eskisehir, Turkey. Both Kedah and Eskisehir share one similarity – they both have many museums. The findings revealed that in both study contexts, young people tended to visit museums for practical reasons such as to help them prepare homework or a project. They also visit for intrinsic reasons such as to satisfy their curiosity. Both samples also illustrate Davies (2001) contention that awareness is an important precursor to potential visits. On the other hand, both samples are different in reasons for not visiting. While young people in Eskisehir cite emotional reasons for deciding not to visit, young people in Kedah offered more practical ones such as lack of time and interest, or more interested in other activities. The study findings are useful for understanding reasons behind the generally low museum visits among youth. Several managerial implications of the study were also proposed.Kertaskerja ini membentangkan dapatan kajian mengenai motivasi golongan dalam muda dalam mengunjungi muzium. Kaedah persampelan tujuan digunakan di kedua-dua populasi golongan muda di Kedah, Malaysia dan Eskisehir, Turkey, yang mana keduanya mempunyai banyak muzium tempatan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa dalam kedua-dua konteks, golongan muda akan mengunjungi muzium untuk tujuan praktikal seperti membuat kerjaruma atau tugasan. Mereka juga berunjung untuk tujuan intrinsik seperti untuk mempelajari sesuatu yang baru. Kedua-dua sampel juga mengilustrasi cadangan Davies (2001) bahawa kesedaran mengenai muzium adalah sebab utama pengunjungan. Bagaimanapun, kedua sampel mempunyai sebab berlainan untuk tidak mengunjungi. Dapatan kajian ini penting demi memahami mengapa golongan muda jarang suka mengunjungi muzium.     Consumers' Omnichannel Integration Quality, Credibility and Innovativeness Perceptions of the Brands and Omnichannel Adoptions

    In this study it is aimed to reveal how brands' omnichannel integration quality, omnichannel credibility and perceived innovativeness influence consumers’ omnichannel adoption and to reveal the mediating role of perceived omnichannel value on this effect. Also, it examines the omnichannel usage in tourism, banking, clothing and furniture sectors. For this purpose, the data obtained by sending an online questionnaire via social media applications and via email to 411 people from different cities and having different demographic characteristics were analyzed by SEM method. According to the results of the analysis, a relationship was found between omnichannel integration quality, omnichannel credibility and perceived brand innovativeness. In addition, it was concluded that perceived omnichannel value has a mediating role in the effect of omnichannel credibility and brand innovativeness variables on the omnichannel adoption variable, while it does not have a mediating role in the effect of the omnichannel integration quality variable on the omnichannel adoption variable. It is thought that this study and the results obtained are important in terms of being a guide in theory and practice, since the variables in the study are related to the use of omnichannel in the product and service purchasing processes of consumers

    A New Technique for Simple Renal Cyst: Cystoretroperitoneal Shunt

    Purpose. To evaluate the results of patient symptoms and radiologic outcomes of cystoretroperitoneal shunt (CRS) technique in the treatment of symptomatic simple renal cysts. Patients and Methods. In a prospective study, 37 patients with a simple renal cyst were treated with ultrasound-guided percutaneous CRS-catheter. Radiological success was indicated as no recurrence of the cyst or a reduction in cyst volume by at least half. Results. CRS technique was performed successfully in 36 patients with a simple renal cyst. The mean size of all cysts decreased from 8.8 cm (range 7 to 14) to 1.7 cm (range 0 to 9; P < .001). Symptomatic success (pain relief) was achieved in 29/36 (80.5%) of patients, and radiographic success was achieved in 23/36 (63.8%) of patients, with a median follow-up of 16 months (range 6 to 24).
