Radiation hardening of components and systems for nuclear rocket vehicle applications
The results of the analysis of the S-2 and S-4B components, although incomplete, indicate that many Saturn 5 components and subsystems, e.g., pumps, valves, etc., can be radiation hardened to meet NRV requirements by material substitution and minor design modifications. Results of these analyses include (1) recommended radiation tolerance limits for over 100 material applications; (2) design data which describes the components of each system; (3) presentation of radiation hardening examples of systems; and (4) designing radiation effects tests to supply data for selecting materials

British National Parks for North Americans: What We Can Learn from a More Crowded Nation Proud of Its Countryside
England and Wales contain twelve national parks coverings more than 10 percent of their landscape. Although these parks are managed as national resources, the vast majority of the land within their borders is privately owned. Although they are managed to preserve their natural qualities, they contain farms, towns and roughly 300,000 people. They contain nothing North Americans would consider wilderness. Although recognized national assets, nationally funded, they are administered by boards made up largely of local representatives. Since passage of the National Parks and Access to Countryside Act of 1949, the British have managed to develop a national park system that defies almost every North American preconception of what a national is supposed to be, but still manages to do almost everything North Americans require national parks to do. The British National Park model is no substitute for the magnificent public ownership, wilderness-based national parks of North America. Study of the history and management of British National Parks, however, provides us with important lessons for preserving public values in human-influenced, mixed ownership landscapes
Religiosity and Sexual Activity Among Older Adolescents
This study investigates religiosity, sexual activity, and sexual permissiveness among older adolescents. Eighty-two college students completed a survey that measured religiosity, sexual permissiveness, self-esteem, frequency of recent sexual encounters, and motivators for sexual activity or abstinence. Guilt, prayer, organized religious activity, and religious well-being predicted fewer sexual encounters. Orthodox beliefs, participation in organized religious activities, and highly-rated importance of faith predicted less permissive sexual attitudes. We conclude that guilt and religious activity can be good motivators for decreasing sexual encounters. We recommend that health practitioners encourage participation in religious activity among adolescents

Welding of commercial base plates is investigated
Investigation of aluminum alloy welds reveals that the combinations of metallic elements with hydrogen are not capable of producing weld porosity themselves, rather they tend to increase the amount of porosity only in the presence of arc contamination by water vapor
