    Topological representation for monadic implication algebras

    In this paper, every monadic implication algebra is represented as a union of a unique family of monadic filters of a suitable monadic Boolean algebra. Inspired by this representation, we introduce the notion of a monadic implication space, we give a topological representation for monadic implication algebras and we prove a dual equivalence between the category of monadic implication algebras and the category of monadic implication spaces.Fil: Abad, Manuel.     Early Acquisition of Neural Crest Competence During hESCs Neuralization

    Background: Neural crest stem cells (NCSCs) are a transient multipotent embryonic cell population that represents a defining characteristic of vertebrates. The neural crest (NC) gives rise to many derivatives including the neurons and glia of the sensory and autonomic ganglia of the peripheral nervous system, enteric neurons and glia, melanocytes, and the cartilaginous, bony and connective tissue of the craniofacial skeleton, cephalic neuroendocrine organs, and some heart vessels. Methodology/Principal Findings: We present evidence that neural crest (NC) competence can be acquired very early when human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are selectively neuralized towards dorsal neuroepithelium in the absence of feeder cells in fully defined conditions. When hESC-derived neurospheres are plated on fibronectin, some cells emigrate onto the substrate. These early migratory Neural Crest Stem Cells (emNCSCs) uniformly upregulate Sox10 and vimentin, downregulate N-cadherin, and remodel F-actin, consistent with a transition from neuroepithelium to a mesenchymal NC cell. Over 13% of emNCSCs upregulate CD73, a marker of mesenchymal lineage characteristic of cephalic NC and connexin 43, found on early migratory NC cells. We demonstrated that emNCSCs give rise in vitro to all NC lineages, are multipotent on clonal level, and appropriately respond to developmental factors. We suggest that human emNCSC resemble cephalic NC described in model organisms. Ex vivo emNCSCs can differentiate into neurons in Ret.k- mouse embryonic gut tissue cultures and transplanted emNCSCs incorporate into NC-derived structures but not CNS tissues in chick embryos. Conclusions/Significance: These findings will provide a framework for further studying early human NC development including the epithelial to mesenchymal transition during NC delamination

    The development of new systemic agents has led us into a “golden era” of management of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Certainly, the approval of immune-checkpoint inhibitors and the combination of these with targeted compounds has irreversibly changed clinical scenarios. A deeper knowledge of the molecular mechanisms that correlate with tumor development and progression has made this revolution possible. In this amazing era, novel challenges are awaiting us in the clinical management of metastatic RCC. Of these, the development of reliable criteria which are able to predict tumor response to treatment or primary and acquired resistance to systemic treatments still remain an unmet clinical need. Thanks to the availability of data provided by studies evaluating genomic assessments of the disease, this goal may no longer be out of reach.     The human gastrointestinal microbiota and prostate cancer development and treatment

    The human gastrointestinal microbiome contains commensal bacteria and other microbiota that have been gaining increasing attention in the context of cancer development and response to treatment. Microbiota play a role in the maintenance of host barrier surfaces that contribute to both local inflammation and other systemic metabolic functions. In the context of prostate cancer, the gastrointestinal microbiome may play a role through metabolism of estrogen, an increase of which has been linked to the induction of prostatic neoplasia. Specific microbiota such as Bacteroides, Streptococcus, Bacteroides massiliensis, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Eubacterium rectalie, and Mycoplasma genitalium have been associated with differing risks of prostate cancer development or extensiveness of prostate cancer disease. In this Review, we discuss gastrointestinal microbiota’s effects on prostate cancer development, the ability of the microbiome to regulate chemotherapy for prostate cancer treatment, and the importance of using Next Generation Sequencing to further discern the microbiome’s systemic influence on prostate cancer

    Wajsberg hoops are the { , →, 1}-subreducts (hoop-subreducts) of Wajsberg algebras, which are term equivalent to MV-algebras and are the algebraic models of Lukasiewicz infinite-valued logic. Monadic MV-algebras were introduced by Rutledge [Ph.D. thesis, Cornell University, 1959] as an algebraic model for the monadic predicate calculus of Lukasiewicz infinitevalued logic, in which only a single individual variable occurs. In this paper we study the class of { , →, ∀, 1}-subreducts (monadic hoop-subreducts) of monadic MV-algebras. We prove that this class, denoted by MWH, is an equational class and we give the identities that define it. An algebra in MWH is called a monadic Wajsberg hoop. We characterize the subdirectly irreducible members in MWH and the congruences by monadic filters. We prove that MWH is generated by its finite members. Then, we introduce the notion of width of a monadic Wajsberg hoop and study some of the subvarieties of monadic Wajsberg hoops of finite width k. Finally, we describe a monadic Wajsberg hoop as a monadic maximal filter within a certain monadic MValgebra such that the quotient is the two element chain.Fil: Díaz Varela, José Patricio. Un trabajo de investigación realizado propone Lógikos, un sistema que busca utilizar el método de toma de decisión AHP para asistir a usuarios en la compra de productos online. Este informe retoma el trabajo iniciado por Lógikos realizando un reimplementación del mismo buscando resolver diferentes problemas y, principalmente, proponiendo una serie de técnicas y herramientas para facilitar y agilizar el uso del método AHP. Se condujo un experimento con un conjunto de participantes con el fin de comparar, desde diferentes aspectos, las nuevas metodologías con las utilizadas normalmente en AHP.Facultad de Informátic

Primary urethral carcinomas and adenocarcinomas of the accessory glands are the most relevant tumors, both from the morphologic and clinical point of view. An accurate diagnosis, grading and staging are essential for determining adequate treatment strategies and outcome.
