Rare species of field weeds of the south Podlasie Lowland and the neighbouring regions
Wydano przy pomocy finansowej Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego oraz Komitetu Badań NaukowychThe paper presents results of a study on the occurrence and
localization of 30 field weed species in middle-eastern Poland. The species are
considered to be regionally and overregionally rare and most of them grow on
fertile soil (rendsine, alluvial soil). They include naturally rare species or species
occurring on the border of geographical ranges (Anagallis arvensis var. azurea,
Aphanes arvensis, Nigella arvensis) as well as species which are close to extinction
(Bromus secatinus, Digitaria sanguinalis, Lolium remotum, Sherardia arvensis, Silene
noctíflora). A group of important role are also expansive species talcing possession
of habitats they have never grown in before (Asperugo procumhens, Falcaría vulgaris,
Lathyrus tuberosus, Vicia grandiflora). Besides the list of localities (by provinces)
general characteristics of distribution of each species and abundance and dynamic
tolerance of localities are given.Zadanie pt. „Digitalizacja i udostępnienie w Cyfrowym Repozytorium Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego kolekcji czasopism naukowych wydawanych przez Uniwersytet Łódzki” nr 885/P-DUN/2014 zostało dofinansowane ze środków MNiSW w ramach działalności upowszechniającej naukę
Quantitative analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using a potentiometric electronic tongue in a SIA flow system
Research funding: National Science Centre. Grant Numbers: DEC-2013/09/B/ST4/00957, LIDER/17/202/L-1/09/NCBiR/2010An advanced potentiometric electronic tongue and Sequential Injection Analysis (SIA) measurement system was applied for the quantitative analysis of mixtures containing three active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs): acetaminophen, ascorbic acid and acetylsalicylic acid, in the presence of various amounts of caffeine as interferent. The flow-through sensor array was composed of miniaturized classical ion-selective electrodes based on plasticized PVC membranes containing only ion exchangers. Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis of the steady-state sensor array responses, measured in API mixtures prepared by the SIA system permitted a correct quantitative analysis of acetylsalicylic acid and ascorbic acid. Further optimization using multiway PLS fed by dynamic responses without additional feature extraction did not improve significantly the resolution of acetaminophen. Lastly, the chemometric treatment, involving the extraction of dynamic components of the transient response employing the Wavelet transform, the removal of less-significant coefficients by means of Causal Index pruning and training of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with the selected coefficients, allowed the simultaneous determination of all the three studied APIs, while counterbalancing any interference due to caffeine
Potentiometric Electronic Tongues for Foodstuff and Biosample Recognition—An Overview
Potentiometric sensors are attractive tools for the fabrication of various electronic tongues that can be used in wide area of applications, ranging from foodstuff recognition to environmental monitoring and medical diagnostics. Their main advantages are the ability to modify their selectivity (including cross-sensitivity effects) and the possibility of miniaturization using appropriate construction methods for the transducer part (e.g., with the use of solid-state technology). In this overview various examples of the design, performance, and applications of potentiometric electronic tongues are presented. The results summarize recent research in the field conducted in the Department of Microbioanalytics, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT)
State Policy in the field of Defence Preparation of the Society in the Second Polish Republic
Recalling the activity of the prewar State Office for Physical Education and Civil Defence Training seems necessary in view of the increased interest of the society, mainly young people, in defence matters and patriotic past. Obviously, the circumstances and conditions have changed significantly but the idea and organizational structure of the State Office for Physical Education and Civil Defence Training seems to be still present today. It is essential that the activities of both the State Office for Physical Education and Civil Defence Training and its local structures did not impose and did not monopolize the defence commitment of the society but only provided all the groups of the society with material and organizational aid related to civil defence training
AGGRAVATING UNCERTAINTY – RUSSIAN INFORMATION WARFARE IN THE WEST
According to vast evidence material, Russia actively tries to influence the situation in Western societies by creating and aggravating uncertainty with the usage of weaponized information. It can be treated as an important part of Russian application of sharp power in the West. The purpose of the article is to explore the selected exemplifications of Russian activities and create a map of disruptive operations against the Western “hearts and minds”. The main scientific methods used in the study are desk research and content analysis. The employment of these methods is crucial to conduct the study of official Russian documents and identified cases of anti-Western information operations
