In Frankreich sind in den vergangenen zwei Jahren umfassende Gesetzesreformen verabschiedet worden, die darauf zielen, die territoriale Architektur der Republik zugunsten von mehr Transparenz und Effizienz der öffentlichen Verwaltung nachhaltig zu verändern. Im Fokus der Reformen stehen die Metropolen, die Zusammenlegung von Regionen und die Neuregelung der Kompetenzen der verschiedenen gebietskörperschaftlichen Ebenen.
