Dual band combiner for horn antenna
A corrugated horn antenna, adapted to be coupled to a waveguide at its apex for X-band excitation is further adapted to be connected to waveguides through a circumferential slot for S-band excitation at four distinct phases selected for the desired S-band polarization. The circumferential slot is positioned along the axial length of the horn for good impedance matching and is provided with an X-band choke in the form of two concentric choke slots. For further improvement in impedance matching, the second (outer) choke slot is divided by plugs into four segments that coincide with waveguide ports for the four distinct phases of the S-band

On the Red-Green-Blue Model
We experimentally study the red-green-blue model, which is a sytem of loops
obtained by superimposing three dimer coverings on offset hexagonal lattices.
We find that when the boundary conditions are ``flat'', the red-green-blue
loops are closely related to SLE_4 and double-dimer loops, which are the loops
formed by superimposing two dimer coverings of the cartesian lattice. But we
also find that the red-green-blue loops are more tightly nested than the
double-dimer loops. We also investigate the 2D minimum spanning tree, and find

Acute complete heart block in dogs
A study has been conducted immediately and up to 18 days after the surgical production of complete heart block in dogs. Immediately after surgery cardiac output, coronary flow, and mean arterial pressure were reduced in rough proportion to the degree of bradycardia. In time, these measures began to return toward preoperative levels. Paralleling the diminished left ventricular work was a diminished left ventricular oxygen consumption with little consequent change in myocardial efficiency. Small rises were detected in central venous pressure. At autopsy, the only unequivocal abnormality was myocardial hypertrophy which became measurable between 2 and 18 days after operation
The Effects of Massive Substructures on Image Multiplicities in Gravitati onal Lenses
Surveys for gravitational lens systems have typically found a significantly
larger fraction of lenses with four (or more) images than are predicted by
standard ellipsoidal lens models (50% versus 25-30%). We show that including
the effects of smaller satellite galaxies, with an abundance normalized by the
observations, significantly increases the expected number of systems with more
than two images and largely explains the discrepancy. The effect is dominated
by satellites with ~20% the luminosity of the primary lens, in rough agreement
with the typical luminosities of the observed satellites. We find that the lens
systems with satellites cannot, however, be dropped from estimates of the
cosmological model based on gravitational lens statistics without significantly

Reasoning about topological and cardinal direction relations between 2-dimensional spatial objects
Increasing the expressiveness of qualitative spatial calculi is an essential step towards meeting the requirements of applications. This can be achieved by combining existing calculi in a way that we can express spatial information using relations from multiple calculi. The great challenge is to develop reasoning algorithms that are correct and complete when reasoning over the combined information. Previous work has mainly studied cases where the interaction between the combined calculi was small, or where one of the two calculi was very simple. In this paper we tackle the important combination of topological and directional information for extended spatial objects. We combine some of the best known calculi in qualitative spatial reasoning, the RCC8 algebra for representing topological information, and the Rectangle Algebra (RA) and the Cardinal Direction Calculus (CDC) for directional information. We consider two different interpretations of the RCC8 algebra, one uses a weak connectedness relation, the other uses a strong connectedness relation. In both interpretations, we show that reasoning with topological and directional information is decidable and remains in NP. Our computational complexity results unveil the significant differences between RA and CDC, and that between weak and strong RCC8 models. Take the combination of basic RCC8 and basic CDC constraints as an example: we show that the consistency problem is in P only when we use the strong RCC8 algebra and explicitly know the corresponding basic RA constraints
