A Mathematical Model for Population and Food Storage Dynamics in a Honey Bee Colony Infected with Nosema ceranae
The microsporidian parasite Nosema ceranae has been suggested as a contributing factor to high wintering losses of Apis mellifera that have occurred in recent years. However, the degree to which N. ceranae affects colony loss remains inconclusive. This thesis presents a mathematical model for N. ceranae infection in a colony of honey bees. As an extension to previous models, we consider food storage dynamics, seasonal parameter variation and N. ceranae transmission to be dependent on an environmental reservoir of infectious spores. We will study the effect of N. ceranae infection on honey bee population size and honey yield over a ten year period. The model is extended to include treatment with the antimicrobial fumagillin that is applied in the fall, spring, or a combined spring and fall treatment. Finally, we perform basic profit analyses to determine if an optimal supplementary sugar feeding and treatment strategy can be found
From Network Analysis to Disease Modelling: A Mixed-Methods Approach to Understanding the Transmission of Johne’s Disease Within and Between Dairy Herds in Ontario, Canada
This thesis presents a series of papers that aim to explore the within- and between-herd transmission of Johne’s disease (JD) in dairy herds based in Ontario, Canada. The transmission of pathogens among livestock populations is believed, in part, to be caused by the movement of animals between herds. Descriptive network analyses of between-herd dairy cow movements in Ontario, Canada were conducted under seven static network timescales, ranging from seven days to ten years. Compared to previous research, the results from monthly networks were similar. However, increasing network timescale resulted in disproportionately higher network cohesion and node centrality, indicating an increased potential for widespread transmission of pathogens with longer incubation periods, such as JD. Identifying characteristics of herds that engage in more movement may be useful for targeted intervention and disease control. Negative binomial regression models indicated that herd-level milk fat production, region, and subclinical mastitis were all associated with number of cow purchases and the number of source herds from which cows were purchased. Previous research has demonstrated that highly connected herds are at greater risk for being JD-positive, but whether this is true in Ontario dairy herds is uncertain. Between 2010-2013, a voluntary JD control program called the Ontario Johne’s Education and Management Assistance Program (OJEMAP) provided education and JD testing for participant herds. Logistic regression models were constructed to assess if there were associations between measures of centrality and high-risk JD classification based on bulk tank milk (BTM) ELISA test results. There did not exist any significant associations between measures of centrality and high-risk JD herd classification after controlling for confounding variables. Additional analysis on the network structure and the distribution of high-risk JD herds confirmed this observation. Finally, mathematical modelling was used to simulate the within-herd transmission of JD. This model assessed the effectiveness of three interventions: 1) strategic insemination of low-shedding test-positive adult cows, 2) using separate calving areas for low- and high-shedding dams, and 3) test-based culling of infected adult cows. Interventions (1) and (2) were effective at reducing long-term within-herd JD prevalence and performed very similarly, but neither were as effective, even when combined, relative to intervention (3)
comportamentais e sociais).
logística reversa do OLUC são: a falta de consciência sobre a logística reversa do OLUC;
Por fim, analisa-se as limitações de celebração da transação tributária no Código Tributário Nacional, na Lei nº 13.988/2020 e os desafios e perspectivas futurasThe purpose of this study is to analyze federal tax transactions and the limits imposed by the Public Treasury on their execution. First, the study provides a brief overview of extrajudicial means of conflict resolution, their emergence in law, importance, modalities, and characteristics. Next, the legislative evolution of tax transactions is analyzed until Law No. 13,988/2020 is reached. After that, the guiding principles are analyzed, proceeding to examine their legal nature as a contract or an administrative act. Next, the unavailability of the public interest and tax transactions are explored, according to administrative acts. Regarding Law No. 13.988/2020, the four modalities provided for in the legislation are analyzed. Finally, the limitations on the execution of tax transactions in the National Tax Code, in Law No. 13.988/2020, and the challenges and future perspectives are analyze
