Prevalence for overweight was higher than for malnutrition. While the rural population presented higher prevalence for nutritional risk and malnutrition, in the urban area there was higher prevalence of risk for overweight. These results show the need for specific nutritional interventions according to the specific issues identified

Conclusion: Young People Negotiating Belonging in Changing Times
At a time when young people are frequently negotiating their relationships with people and place, often in relation to the shifting and fractured emotions involved in belonging, the concluding chapter emphasises the significance of researching young people’s conceptions of identities and belongings. The chapter brings together the main themes in the belonging literature in order to understand how belonging is being conceptualized, what scholars are still hashing out, and also the limitations of belonging when considered as a conceptual tool to understand the experiences and agency of young people. This concluding chapter draws together the themes from the book that connect the young people across the globe, while positioning the collection within the recent developments in youth studies scholarship, and furthermore making observations about the way belonging and (un) belonging are operational globally
Portraits of Place:Critical Pedagogy in the Classroom
To explore the politics of place, and to challenge the politics of place, is becoming paramount for young people more than ever before. In this chapter I argue for young people to be offered opportunities within schools to explore what it means to belong to a place, in order to understand the ways in which their politics of (un)belonging is tied up with social categories of class, race and ethnicity. I present young people, residing in Bermondsey, South London, engaging with place-based discourses critically and collaboratively. Through emotive portraits created by young people in Art lessons, interviews with teachers and also with paired students, and extensive questionnaires, critical insights into the significances of everyday place-based racialised and classed belongings were investigated. The young people’s reflections and discussions about the nature of identity and belonging revealed what young people perceive as the pathologisation of their locales and (imagined) communities by wider public, media and political discourses

The scope of this article is to analyze the prevalence and factors associated with the development of infectious diseases that affect children in daycare centers, namely respiratory infections, diarrheal disease and parasitic infections. Bibliographic research was conducted in the MEDLINE, LILACS and SciELO databases, and observational studies were included. 129 studies were identified, of which 21 were considered relevant to this study, namely two longitudinal and 19 cross-sectional studies. The systematization of the reviewed studies highlighted: i) the presence of intestinal parasites was the main outcome analyzed, followed by respiratory infections; ii) only one study investigated the occurrence of diarrheal disease; iii) the Giardia lamblia was the most prevalent parasitosis; iv) the variables that were most often associated with the development of intestinal parasitosis were child age, family income and maternal education; v) the attendance at daycare centers was a risk factor for intestinal parasites and respiratory infections. Respiratory and parasitic infections are major problems in institutionalized children in daycare centers. The reduction of such diseases involves a complex web of socio-economic, sanitation and daycare center infrastructure aspects.Univ Estadual Paulista, Programa Posgrad Saude Publ, BR-58109753 Campina Grande, Paraiba, BrazilFac Ciencias Med Campina Grande, Campina Grande, PB, BrazilUniv Estadual Paulista, Programa Posgrad Saude Publ, BR-58109753 Campina Grande, Paraiba, Brazi
