Les partis d'extrême droite et l'Europe

Les partis d'extrême droite constituent-ils une menace pour l'Europe ? Pour tenter de répondre à cette question, une distinction doit être établie entre la menace que peuvent constituer certaines formations dans les pays membres de la Communauté européenne (Front national en France, REPs et groupuscules néo-nazis en Allemagne) et la diffusion à l'échelle européenne des thèmes défendus par ces formations. De fait, si le spectre d'une Europe contrôlée par l'extrême droite relève de la fantasmagorie, il n'en reste pas moins que le succès du national-populisme de Jean-Marie Le Pen ou l'actuel activisme des néo-nazis allemands nourrissent de légitimes préoccupations. L'incapacité traditionnelle de l'extrême droite à mettre en place une coopération organisée et durable, fût-ce au sein du groupe des Droites européennes, ne doit pas masquer ce qui constitue, à terme, un réel danger pour l'Europe ; après avoir élaboré une conception organiciste et raciologique de la nation qui, au nom de la sauvegarde de l'" identité nationale ", encourage toutes les pratiques d'exclusion, les extrêmes droites allemande et française transposent aujourd'hui leurs fantasmes identitaires sur la construction européenne. Ce faisant, elles exploitent les réflexes de peur et de repli sur la préférence nationale d'une partie de l'opinion publique, favorisent la multiplication des " xénophobophiles " et minent les fondements même de la dynamique communautaire.Do far right-wing parties constitute a threat for Europe ? To answer this question one has to distinguish between the threat professed by certain groups within EC Member States (Front National in France, Republicans and neo-Nazi groups in Germany) on the one hand, and the dissemination in Europe of the ideas of such groups on the other. There is little doubt that the idea of Europe falling into the hands of the far right-wing parties remains a illusion, but the spread of the national-populist ideas of Le Pen and the German neo-Nazi groups is a bigger reason for concern. The far right is traditionally incapable of organising itself on a lasting basis within Europe, but a real danger exists in the long run : after constructing an organist and racist concept of the nation, justified by the safeguarding of the " national identity ", and having widely preached exclusion, German and French extremists now project their identity hallucinations onto the European construction. They exploit the fears and consequent convergence on the reassuring concept of the " nation ", promote the spread of xenophobia and thereby undermine the very foundations of the Community's development
