Sistem Energi Angin Skala Kecil Untuk Pedesaan
Energi angin adalah sumber energi terbarukan yang telah dimanfaatkan selama lebih dari seabad. Pemanfaatan teknologi energi angin skala kecil dapat diterapkan di pedesaan atau didaerah terpencil yang tidak memiliki jaringan listrik. Potensi angin yang tersedia merupakan dasar pertimbangan desain dan penerapan sistem. Kincir angin sederhana telah digunakan secara luas terutama untuk pemompaan pada tambak garam dan di pedesaan. Pemanfaatan kincir angin atau turbin angin lebih menguntungkan dibandingkan dengan pemanfaatan mesin diesel, photovoltaik atau penambahan jaringan listrik. Biaya awal sistem energi angin yang belum terjangkau oleh masyarakat pedesaan perlu dicarikan solusinya. Makalah juga menguraikan penerapan berbagai teknologi energi angin di Indonesia dan upaya pengembangan sistem dan penyebarluasannya
Epidemiology and Impact of Abdominal Oblique Injuries in Major and Minor League Baseball.
BACKGROUND: Oblique injuries are known to be a common cause of time out of play for professional baseball players, and prior work has suggested that injury rates may be on the rise in Major League Baseball (MLB).
PURPOSE: To better understand the current incidence of oblique injuries, determine their impact based on time out of play, and to identify common injury patterns that may guide future injury prevention programs.
STUDY DESIGN: Descriptive epidemiological study.
METHODS: Using the MLB Health and Injury Tracking System, all oblique injuries that resulted in time out of play in MLB and Minor League Baseball (MiLB) during the 2011 to 2015 seasons were identified. Player demographics such as age, position/role, and handedness were included. Injury-specific factors analyzed included the following: date of injury, timing during season, days missed, mechanism, side, treatment, and reinjury status.
RESULTS: A total of 996 oblique injuries occurred in 259 (26%) MLB and 737 (74%) MiLB players. Although the injury rate was steady in MiLB, the MLB injury rate declined (P = .037). A total of 22,064 days were missed at a mean rate of 4413 days per season and 22.2 days per injury. The majority of these occurred during batting (n = 455, 46%) or pitching (n = 348, 35%), with pitchers losing 5 days more per injury than batters (P \u3c .001). The leading side was injured in 77% of cases and took 5 days longer to recover from than trailing side injuries (P = .009). Seventy-nine (7.9%) players received either a corticosteroid or platelet-rich plasma injection, and the mean recovery time was 11 days longer compared with those who did not receive an injection (P \u3c .001).
CONCLUSION: Although the rate of abdominal oblique injuries is on the decline in MLB, this is not the case for MiLB, and these injuries continue to represent a significant source of time out of play in professional baseball. The vast majority of injuries occur on the lead side, and these injuries result in the greatest amount time out of play. The benefit of injections for the treatment of oblique injuries remains unknown
Effect of bone loss in anterior shoulder instability
Anterior shoulder instability with bone loss can be a difficult problem to treat. It usually involves a component of either glenoid deficiency or a Hill-Sachs lesion. Recent data shows that soft tissue procedures alone are typically not adequate to provide stability to the shoulder. As such, numerous surgical procedures have been described to directly address these bony deficits. For glenoid defects, coracoid transfer and iliac crest bone block procedures are popular and effective. For humeral head defects, both remplissage and osteochondral allografts have decreased the rates of recurrent instability. Our review provides an overview of current literature addressing these treatment options and others for addressing bone loss complicating anterior glenohumeral instability
Comparative morphological trade-offs between pre- and post-copulatory sexual selection in Giant hissing cockroaches (Tribe: Gromphadorhini)
Sperm competition theory predicts that animals face a trade-off between investment in weaponry
and investment in ejaculate composition. Within the Madagascan giant hissing cockroaches (Tribe
Gromphadorhini) differences in morphology exist that may indicate differing strategies of male-male
competition. We compared relative pronotal horn length using high-resolution X-ray CT scanning data,
relative testes mass, and male-male agonistic behaviour between two species of hissing cockroaches,
Gromphadorhina oblongonota and Aeluropoda insignis. The gross morphology and behaviour of these
two species indicated that G. oblongonota is selected for pre-copulatory mate acquisition and that
A. insignis is selected for post-copulatory sperm competition. We found evidence for a trade-off when
investing in testes mass vs. horn length between the species. The large, aggressive G. oblongonota
follows a strategy of greater investment in weapons at the expense of testes mass while the smaller,
less-aggressive A. insignis invests in relatively greater testes mass and less in pronotal weapon length.
We also found evidence of a trade-off within each species, where individuals invest more heavily in
weapon length at the expense of testes mass. These findings support the predictions of pre- and postcopulatory
competitive investment trade-offs for a relatively understudied Tribe of cockroaches

Quali strumenti giuridici statali e regionali per le comunit\ue0 patrimoniali?
The Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (Faro Convention, 2005) recognizes a central role to heritage communities in the process of identification, study, interpretation, protection, conservation and presentation of the cultural heritage. As a signatory State of the Convention (signed on 27th February 2013, still waiting for ratification), Italy has in any case to ensure its contribution to the safeguarding of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage by adequate policies. Currently, a State law providing a general regulation of the participation of civil society to the protection and the enhancement of cultural heritage in the Italian legal system has not been adopted yet. Nevertheless, communities, groups and individuals have a wide range of instruments available, which can be drawn by an accurate interpretation of the Constitution and of many State and regional laws. In the long run, the persistent lack of common rules on this subject may be a source of uncertainty, capable of weakening, instead of strengthening, the role of heritage communities, in contrast with the principles of the Faro Convention
Multi-scale investigation of uranium attenuation by arsenic at an abandoned uranium mine, South Terras
Detailed mineralogical analysis of soils from the UK’s historical key uranium mine, South Terras, was performed to elucidate the mechanisms of uranium degradation and migration in the 86 years since abandonment. Soils were sampled from the surface (0 – 2 cm) and near-surface (25 cm) in two distinct areas of ore processing activities. Bulk soil analysis revealed the presence of high concentrations of uranium (<1690 ppm), arsenic (1830 ppm) and beryllium (~250 ppm), suggesting pedogenic weathering of the country rock and ore extraction processes to be the mechanisms of uranium ore degradation. Micro-focus XRF analysis indicated the association of uranium with arsenic, phosphate and copper; µ-XRD data confirmed the presence of the uranyl-arsenate minerals metazeunerite (Cu(UO2)2(AsO4)2·8H2O) and metatorbernite (Cu(UO2)2(PO4)2·8H2O) to be ubiquitous. Our data are consistent with the solid solution of these two uranyl-mica minerals, not previously observed at uranium-contaminated sites. Crystallites of uranyl-mica minerals were observed to coat particles of jarosite and muscovite, suggesting that the mobility of uranium from degraded ores is attenuated by co-precipitation with arsenic and phosphate, which was not previously considered at this site
Revision Total Shoulder Arthroplasty is Associated with Increased Thirty-Day Postoperative Complications and Wound Infections Relative to Primary Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
© 2017, Hospital for Special Surgery. Background: With an increasing volume of primary total shoulder arthroplasties (TSA), the number of revision TSA cases is expected to increase as well. However, the postoperative medical morbidity of revision TSA has not been clearly described. Questions/Purposes: The purpose of this study was to determine the rate of postoperative complications following revision TSA, relative to primary TSA. In addition, we sought to identify independent predictors of complications, as well as to compare operative time and postoperative length of stay between primary and revision TSA. Methods: Patients who underwent primary/revision TSA between 2005 and 2015 were identified in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. Differences in complications, readmission rates, operative time, length of stay, and predictors of complications were evaluated using bivariate and multivariate analyses. Results: A total of 10,371 primary TSA (95.4%) and 496 revision TSA cases (4.6%) were identified. The overall complication rate was 6.5% in primary and 10.7% in revision TSA patients (p \u3c 0.001). Multivariate analysis identified an increased risk of any complication (odds ratio 1.73, p \u3c 0.001), major complication (2.08, p = 0.001), and wound infection (3.45, p = 0.001) in revision TSA patients, relative to primary cases. Operative time was increased in revision cases (mean ± standard deviation, 125 ± 62.5), relative to primary (115 ± 47.7, p \u3c 0.001). Age \u3e 75, female sex, history of diabetes or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and American Society of Anesthesiologists classification ≥ 3 were associated with increased risk of any complication. Smoking history was the only significant predictor of wound infection. Conclusion: Revision TSA, in comparison to primary, poses an increased risk of postoperative complications, particularly wound infections. A history of smoking was an independent predictor of wound infections
