The Measurement of Medicaid Coverage in the SIPP : Evidence from a Comparison of Matched Records
This paper studies the accuracy of reported Medicaid coverage in the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) using a unique data set formed by matching SIPP survey responses to administrative records from the State of California. Overall, we estimate that the SIPP underestimates Medicaid coverage in the California population by about 10 percent. The probability that a SIPP respondent who is covered by Medicaid in a given month correctly reports their coverage is around 85 percent. The corresponding probability for low-income children is higher – around 90 percent. Under-reporting by those who are actually in the Medicaid system is partially offset by over-reporting of coverage by people who are not. Some of these false positive responses are attributable to errors and missing data in the administrative system, rather than to problems in the SIPP. Taking account of these errors, the estimated false positive rate for the population as a whole is about 1.5 percent, and 4-5 percent for poor children.
Structural Refinement for the Modal nu-Calculus
We introduce a new notion of structural refinement, a sound abstraction of
logical implication, for the modal nu-calculus. Using new translations between
the modal nu-calculus and disjunctive modal transition systems, we show that
these two specification formalisms are structurally equivalent.
Using our translations, we also transfer the structural operations of
composition and quotient from disjunctive modal transition systems to the modal
nu-calculus. This shows that the modal nu-calculus supports composition and

Conformal anomaly of Wilson surface observables - a field theoretical computation
We make an exact field theoretical computation of the conformal anomaly for
two-dimensional submanifold observables. By including a scalar field in the
definition for the Wilson surface, as appropriate for a spontaneously broken
A_1 theory, we get a conformal anomaly which is such that N times it is equal
to the anomaly that was computed in hep-th/9901021 in the large N limit and
which relied on the AdS-CFT correspondence. We also show how the spherical

Quark and pion condensation in a chromomagnetic background field
The general features of quark and pion condensation in dense quark matter
with flavor asymmetry have been considered at finite temperature in the
presence of a chromomagnetic background field modelling the gluon condensate.
In particular, pion condensation in the case of a constant abelian
chromomagnetic field and zero temperature has been studied both analytically
and numerically. Under the influence of the chromomagnetic background field the
effective potential of the system is found to have a global minimum for a
finite pion condensate even for small values of the effective quark coupling
constant. In the strong field limit, an effective dimensional reduction has

Hennessy-Milner Logic with Greatest Fixed Points as a Complete Behavioural Specification Theory
There are two fundamentally different approaches to specifying and verifying
properties of systems. The logical approach makes use of specifications given
as formulae of temporal or modal logics and relies on efficient model checking
algorithms; the behavioural approach exploits various equivalence or refinement
checking methods, provided the specifications are given in the same formalism
as implementations.
In this paper we provide translations between the logical formalism of
Hennessy-Milner logic with greatest fixed points and the behavioural formalism
of disjunctive modal transition systems. We also introduce a new operation of
quotient for the above equivalent formalisms, which is adjoint to structural
composition and allows synthesis of missing specifications from partial
implementations. This is a substantial generalisation of the quotient for
deterministic modal transition systems defined in earlier papers
Effects of SUSY-QCD in hadronic Higgs production at next-to-next-to-leading order
An estimate of the NNLO supersymmetric QCD effects for Higgs production at
hadron colliders is given. Assuming an effective gluon-Higgs interaction, these
corrections enter only in terms of process-independent, factorizable terms. We
argue that the current knowledge of these terms up to NLO is sufficient to
derive the NNLO hadronic cross section within the limitations of the standard
theoretical uncertainties arising mainly from renormalization and factorization
scale variations. The SUSY contributions are small with respect to the QCD
effects, which means that the NNLO corrections to Higgs production are very

Investment under ambiguity with the best and worst in mind
Recent literature on optimal investment has stressed the difference between the impact of risk and the impact of ambiguity - also called Knightian uncertainty - on investors' decisions. In this paper, we show that a decision maker's attitude towards ambiguity is similarly crucial for investment decisions. We capture the investor's individual ambiguity attitude by applying alpha-MEU preferences to a standard investment problem. We show that the presence of ambiguity often leads to an increase in the subjective project value, and entrepreneurs are more eager to invest. Thereby, our investment model helps to explain differences in investment behavior in situations which are objectively identical
Effect of Y substitution on the structural and magnetic properties of Dy1-xYxCo5 compounds
Structural and magnetization studies were carried out on Dy1-xYxCo5 [x = 0,
0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1] compounds which crystallize in the hexagonal CaCu5-type
structure. Lattice parameters and unit-cell volume increase with Y
concentration. Large thermomagnetic irreversibility between the field-cooled
and the zero-field cooled magnetization data has been observed in all the
compounds, which has been attributed to the domain wall pinning effect.
Temperature dependence of magnetization data shows that except DyCo5 and YCo5,
all the compounds show spin reorientation transitions in the range of 5-300 K.
The spin reorientation temperature decreases from 266 K for x=0.2 to 100 K for
x=0.8. Powder x-ray diffractograms of the magnetically aligned samples show
that DyCo5 has planar anisotropy at room temperature whereas all the other
compounds possess axial anisotropy. The spin reorientation transition has been
attributed to a change in the easy magnetization direction from the ab-plane to
the c-axis, as the temperature is increased. The anisotropy field and the first
order anisotropy constant are found to be quite high in all the compounds
except DyCo5. The magnetic properties have been explained by taking into
account the variations in contributions arising from the rare earth and
transition metal sublattices.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure
Universal Holographic Chiral Dynamics in an External Magnetic Field
In this work we further extend the investigation of holographic gauge
theories in external magnetic fields, continuing earlier work. We study the
phenomenon of magnetic catalysis of mass generation in 1+3 and 1+2 dimensions,
using D3/D7- and D3/D5-brane systems, respectively. We obtain the low energy
effective actions of the corresponding pseudo Goldstone bosons and study their
dispersion relations. The D3/D7 system exhibits the usual
Gell-Mann--Oakes--Renner (GMOR) relation and a relativistic dispersion
relation, while the D3/D5 system exhibits a quadratic non-relativistic
dispersion relation and a modified linear GMOR relation. The low energy
effective action of the D3/D5 system is related to that describing magnon
excitations in a ferromagnet. We also study properties of general Dp/Dq systems
in an external magnetic field and verify the universality of the magnetic
