    Photovoltaic module on-orbit assembly for Space Station Freedom

    In the introductory business programming courses, the BASIC programming language was used for many years followed by Visual Basic more recently. In the intermediate and advanced business programming courses COBOL has been the language used for decades, but it has been replaced by Java more recently. This has come with the benefit of the use of objects, but has also come with the costs of a more awkward Graphical User Interface, and more cumbersome data file management than with COBOL. The use of .NET as a teaching tool solves this problem. The shift from VB to VB.NET in the introductory programming courses is a natural one, and the use of C# in the intermediate programming courses addresses the unwieldy nature of data file management in Java, but retains the benefits of object-orientation. The Graphical User Interface available in Visual Basic is retained in VB.NET, which is available for all languages used within .NET, including C#. The .NET development environment offers a seamless development environment for both introductory and intermediate programming courses

    Applied Force and sEMG Muscle Activity Required To Operate Pistol Grip Control in an Electric Utility Aerial Bucket

    Electric utility line workers report high levels of fatigue in forearm muscles when operating a conventional pistol grip control in aerial buckets. This study measured the applied force and surface electromyographic (sEMG) signals from four upper extremity muscles required to operate the pistol grip control in two tasks. The first task was movement of the pistol grip in six directions (up/down, forward/rearward, clockwise/counter-clockwise), and the second task was movement of the bucket from its resting position on the truck bed to an overhead conductor on top of a 40 ft tall pole. The force applied to the pistol grip was measured in 14 aerial bucket trucks, and sEMG activity was measured on eight apprentice line workers. The applied force required to move the pistol grip control in the six directions ranged from 12 to 15 lb. The sEMG activity in the extensor digitorum communis (EDC) forearm muscle was approximately twice as great or more than the other three muscles (flexor digitorum superficialis, triceps, and biceps). Line workers exerted 14 to 30% MVCEMG to move the pistol grip in the six directions. Average %MVCEMG of the EDC to move the bucket from the truck platform to an overhead line ranged from 26 to 30% across the four phases of the task. The sEMG findings from this study provide physiologic evidence to support the anecdotal reports of muscle fatigue from line workers after using the pistol grip control for repeated, long durations

    Allelopathic Effect of Lantana Camara on Germinatiion and Growth of Chickpea and Green Gram

    An experiment was conducted in Department of Botany, BFIT, Dehradun, Uttrakhand during the months of February and March to understand the allelopathic effects of different concentrations taken through the leaf powder of Lantana camaraleaf on germination percentage and early growth of two pulse crops i.e. chickpea and green gram. The test was conducted in petridishes. Results showed that different leaf powder concentration cause great inhibitory effect on germination and growth of both the pulse crops. Results indicates that the allelochemicals were released from the leaf powder and inhabit the germination and growth of germinated crops

    Influence of social media addiction on academic achievement in distance learning: Intervening role of academic procrastination

    Using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling with WarpPLS, this study examines the indirect effect of the relationship between learners' social media addiction and academic achievement in distance learning as mediated by academic procrastination. The study participants were 223 Filipino students at a secondary school in Cagayan, Philippines, who were chosen using convenience sampling. Sample sizes were calculated using the inverse square root and gamma-exponential methods. The findings indicated a positive and significant relationship between social media addiction and academic procrastination. There is also a negative and significant relationship between academic procrastination and learners' academic achievement. In terms of the indirect effects of the mediation model, the relationship between social media addiction and academic achievement is fully mediated by academic procrastination. This indicates that academic procrastination substantially impacts the strength of the correlation between social media addiction and academic achievement. The findings of the undertaking were discussed regarding their implications for institutions and future research

    A Grassmann integral equation

    The present study introduces and investigates a new type of equation which is called Grassmann integral equation in analogy to integral equations studied in real analysis. A Grassmann integral equation is an equation which involves Grassmann integrations and which is to be obeyed by an unknown function over a (finite-dimensional) Grassmann algebra G_m. A particular type of Grassmann integral equations is explicitly studied for certain low-dimensional Grassmann algebras. The choice of the equation under investigation is motivated by the effective action formalism of (lattice) quantum field theory. In a very general setting, for the Grassmann algebras G_2n, n = 2,3,4, the finite-dimensional analogues of the generating functionals of the Green functions are worked out explicitly by solving a coupled system of nonlinear matrix equations. Finally, by imposing the condition G[{\bar\Psi},{\Psi}] = G_0[{\lambda\bar\Psi}, {\lambda\Psi}] + const., 0<\lambda\in R (\bar\Psi_k, \Psi_k, k=1,...,n, are the generators of the Grassmann algebra G_2n), between the finite-dimensional analogues G_0 and G of the (``classical'') action and effective action functionals, respectively, a special Grassmann integral equation is being established and solved which also is equivalent to a coupled system of nonlinear matrix equations. If \lambda \not= 1, solutions to this Grassmann integral equation exist for n=2 (and consequently, also for any even value of n, specifically, for n=4) but not for n=3. If \lambda=1, the considered Grassmann integral equation has always a solution which corresponds to a Gaussian integral, but remarkably in the case n=4 a further solution is found which corresponds to a non-Gaussian integral.     Assessing Financial Literacy Among Members of Agricultural Cooperatives in Cateel, Davao Oriental: A Quantitative Approach

    This study explored the level of financial literacy among 68 cooperative members in Cateel, Davao Oriental. It aimed to examine the respondents\u27 profiles in terms of age, gender, educational background, and income level, and to assess financial literacy across four dimensions: financial knowledge, behavior, awareness, and attitudes. Using weighted mean and ANOVA for data analysis, the study identified significant differences in financial literacy based on demographic factors. Results showed that most respondents were young and had varied educational backgrounds. Financial behavior significantly differed by age (p &lt; 0.05), while educational attainment had a significant impact on financial knowledge, behavior, and attitude (p &lt; 0.05), and a near-significant effect on overall financial literacy. Gender differences were significant in financial behavior, attitude, and overall financial literacy. However, no significant differences were found based on income level or prior financial literacy training. These findings underscore the importance of designing targeted financial education interventions that address age-, gender-, and education-related disparities to improve financial literacy among cooperative members
