The efficacy and safety of Baoji Tablets for treating common cold with summer-heat and dampness syndrome: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND: Despite the high incidence and the economic impact of the common cold, there are still no effective therapeutic options available. Although traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is widely used in China to treat the common cold, there is still a lack of high-quality clinical trials. This article sets forth the protocol for a high-quality trial of a new TCM drug, Baoji Tablets, which is designed to treat the common cold with summer-heat and dampness syndrome (CCSDS). The trial is evaluating both the efficacy and safety of Baoji Tablets. METHODS/DESIGN: This study is designed as a multicenter, phase II, parallel-group, double-blind, double-dummy, randomized and placebo-controlled trial. A total of 288 patients will be recruited from four centers. The new tablets group are administered Baoji Tablets 0.9 g and dummy Baoji Pills 3.7 g. The old pills group are administered dummy Baoji Tablets 0.9 g and Baoji Pills 3.7 g. The placebo control group are administered dummy Baoji Tablets 0.9 g and dummy Baoji Pills 3.7 g. All drugs are taken three times daily for 3 days. The primary outcome is the duration of all symptoms. Secondary outcomes include the duration of primary and secondary symptoms, changes in primary and secondary symptom scores and cumulative symptom score at day 4, as well as an evaluation of treatment efficacy. DISCUSSION: This is the first multicenter, double-blind, double-dummy, randomized and placebo-controlled trial designated to treat CCSDS in an adult population from China. It will establish the basis for a scientific and objective assessment of the efficacy and safety of Baoji Tablets for treating CCSDS, and provide evidence for a phase III clinical trial. Method of determining cosmological parameter ranges with samples of candles with an intrinsic distribution
In this paper, the effect of the intrinsic distribution of cosmological
candles is investigated. We find that, in the case of a narrow distribution,
the deviation of the observed modulus of sources from the expected central
value could be estimated within a ceratin range. We thus introduce a lower and
upper limits of , and , to
estimate cosmological parameters by applying the conventional minimizing method. We apply this method to a gamma-ray burst (GRB) sample as well as
to a combined sample including this GRB sample and an SN Ia sample. Our
analysis shows that: a) in the case of assuming an intrinsic distribution of
candles of the GRB sample, the effect of the distribution is obvious and should
not be neglected; b) taking into account this effect would lead to a poorer
constraint of the cosmological parameter ranges. The analysis suggests that in
the attempt of constraining the cosmological model with current GRB samples,
the results tend to be worse than what previously thought if the mentioned

Rare Semileptonic Decays of Heavy Mesons with Flavor SU(3) Symmetry
In this paper, we calculate the decay rates of , , , and
semileptonic decay processes, in which only the light
quarks decay, while the heavy flavors remain unchanged. The branching ratios of
these decay processes are calculated with the flavor SU(3) symmetry. The
uncertainties are estimated by considering the SU(3) breaking effect. We find
that the decay rates are very tiny in the framework of the Standard Model. We
also estimate the sensitivities of the measurements of these rare decays at the

Exploring morphological correlations among H2CO, 12CO, MSX and continuum mappings
There are relatively few H2CO mappings of large-area giant molecular cloud
(GMCs). H2CO absorption lines are good tracers for low-temperature molecular
clouds towards star formation regions. Thus, the aim of the study was to
identify H2CO distributions in ambient molecular clouds. We investigated
morphologic relations among 6-cm continuum brightness temperature (CBT) data
and H2CO (111-110; Nanshan 25-m radio telescope), 12CO (1--0; 1.2-m CfA
telescope) and midcourse space experiment (MSX) data, and considered the impact
of background components on foreground clouds. We report simultaneous 6-cm H2CO
absorption lines and H110\alpha radio recombination line observations and give
several large-area mappings at 4.8 GHz toward W49 (50'\times50'), W3
(70'\times90'), DR21/W75 (60'\times90') and NGC2024/NGC2023 (50'\times100')
GMCs. By superimposing H2CO and 12CO contours onto the MSX color map, we can
compare correlations. The resolution for H2CO, 12CO and MSX data was about 10',
8' and 18.3", respectively. Comparison of H2CO and 12CO contours, 8.28-\mu m
MSX colorscale and CBT data revealed great morphological correlation in the
large area, although there are some discrepancies between 12CO and H2CO peaks
in small areas. The NGC2024/NGC2023 GMC is a large area of HII regions with a
high CBT, but a H2CO cloud to the north is possible against the cosmic
microwave background. A statistical diagram shows that 85.21% of H2CO
absorption lines are distributed in the intensity range from -1.0 to 0 Jy and

Parallel momentum distribution of the Si fragments from P
Distribution of the parallel momentum of Si fragments from the breakup
of 30.7 MeV/nucleon P has been measured on C targets. The distribution
has the FWHM with the value of 110.5 23.5 MeV/c which is consistent
quantitatively with Galuber model calculation assuming by a valence proton in
P. The density distribution is also predicted by Skyrme-Hartree-Fock
calculation. Results show that there might exist the proton-skin structure in

Wave functions and decay constants of and mesons in the relativistic potential model
With the decay constants of and mesons measured in experiment
recently, we revisit the study of the bound states of quark and antiquark in
and mesons in the relativistic potential model. The relativistic bound
state wave equation is solved numerically. The masses, decay constants and wave
functions of and mesons are obtained. Both the masses and decay
constants obtained here can be consistent with the experimental data. The wave

PSR J1926-0652: A Pulsar with Interesting Emission Properties Discovered at FAST
We describe PSR J1926-0652, a pulsar recently discovered with the
Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). Using sensitive
single-pulse detections from FAST and long-term timing observations from the
Parkes 64-m radio telescope, we probed phenomena on both long and short time
scales. The FAST observations covered a wide frequency range from 270 to 800
MHz, enabling individual pulses to be studied in detail. The pulsar exhibits at
least four profile components, short-term nulling lasting from 4 to 450 pulses,
complex subpulse drifting behaviours and intermittency on scales of tens of
minutes. While the average band spacing P3 is relatively constant across
different bursts and components, significant variations in the separation of
adjacent bands are seen, especially near the beginning and end of a burst. Band
shapes and slopes are quite variable, especially for the trailing components
and for the shorter bursts. We show that for each burst the last detectable
pulse prior to emission ceasing has different properties compared to other
pulses. These complexities pose challenges for the classic carousel-type

Branching Ratio and CP Violation of B to pi pi Decays in Perturbative QCD Approach
We calculate the branching ratios and CP asymmetries for B^0 to pi^+pi^-, B^+
to pi^+pi^0 and B^0 to pi^0pi^0 decays, in a perturbative QCD approach. In this
approach, we calculate non-factorizable and annihilation type contributions, in
addition to the usual factorizable contributions. We found that the
annihilation diagram contributions are not very small as previous argument. Our
result is in agreement with the measured branching ratio of B to pi^+pi^- by
CLEO collaboration. With a non-negligible contribution from annihilation
diagrams and a large strong phase, we predict a large direct CP asymmetry in
B^0 to pi^+pi^-, and pi^0pi^0, which can be tested by the current running B
