The Moyal bracket and the dispersionless limit of the KP hierarchy
A new Lax equation is introduced for the KP hierarchy which avoids the use of
pseudo-differential operators, as used in the Sato approach. This Lax equation
is closer to that used in the study of the dispersionless KP hierarchy, and is
obtained by replacing the Poisson bracket with the Moyal bracket. The
dispersionless limit, underwhich the Moyal bracket collapses to the Poisson
bracket, is particularly simple.Comment: 9 pages, LaTe
The 1989 and 2015 outbursts of V404 Cygni: a global study of wind-related optical features
The black hole transient V404 Cygni exhibited a bright outburst in June 2015
that was intensively followed over a wide range of wavelengths. Our team
obtained high time resolution optical spectroscopy (~90 s), which included a
detailed coverage of the most active phase of the event. We present a database
consisting of 651 optical spectra obtained during this event, that we combine
with 58 spectra gathered during the fainter December 2015 sequel outburst, as
well as with 57 spectra from the 1989 event. We previously reported the
discovery of wind-related features (P-Cygni and broad-wing line profiles)
during both 2015 outbursts. Here, we build diagnostic diagrams that enable us
to study the evolution of typical emission line parameters, such as line fluxes
and equivalent widths, and develop a technique to systematically detect outflow
signatures. We find that these are present throughout the outburst, even at
very low optical fluxes, and that both types of outflow features are observed
simultaneously in some spectra, confirming the idea of a common origin. We also
show that the nebular phases depict loop patterns in many diagnostic diagrams,
while P-Cygni profiles are highly variable on time-scales of minutes. The
comparison between the three outbursts reveals that the spectra obtained during
June and December 2015 share many similarities, while those from 1989 exhibit
narrower emission lines and lower wind terminal velocities. The diagnostic
diagrams presented in this work have been produced using standard measurement
techniques and thus may be applied to other active low-mass X-ray binaries.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. 23 pages paper, plus a 9 pages

A Semantically Enabled Service Architecture for Mashups over Streaming and Stored Data
Sensing devices are increasingly being deployed to monitor
the physical world around us. One class of application for which sensor data is pertinent is environmental decision support systems, e.g. good emergency response. However, in order to interpret the readings from the sensors, the data needs to be put in context through correlation with other sensor readings, sensor data histories, and stored data, as well as juxtaposing with maps and forecast models. In this paper we use a good emergency response planning application to identify requirements for a semantic sensor web. We propose a generic service architecture to satisfy the requirements that uses semantic annotations to support well-informed interactions between the services. We present the SemSor-Grid4Env realisation of the architecture and illustrate its capabilities in the context of the example application
An approach to emotion recognition in single-channel EEG signals: a mother child interaction
In this work, we perform a first approach to emotion recognition from EEG single channel signals extracted in four (4) mother-child dyads experiment in developmental psychology -- Single channel EEG signals are analyzed and processed using several window sizes by performing a statistical analysis over features in the time and frequency domains -- Finally, a neural network obtained an average accuracy rate of 99% of classification in two emotional states such as happiness and sadness20th Argentinean Bioengineering Society Congress, SABI 2015 (XX Congreso Argentino de Bioingeniería y IX Jornadas de Ingeniería Clínica)28–30 October 2015, San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Argentin
The 2HWC HAWC Observatory Gamma Ray Catalog
We present the first catalog of TeV gamma-ray sources realized with the
recently completed High Altitude Water Cherenkov Observatory (HAWC). It is the
most sensitive wide field-of-view TeV telescope currently in operation, with a
1-year survey sensitivity of ~5-10% of the flux of the Crab Nebula. With an
instantaneous field of view >1.5 sr and >90% duty cycle, it continuously
surveys and monitors the sky for gamma ray energies between hundreds GeV and
tens of TeV.
HAWC is located in Mexico at a latitude of 19 degree North and was completed
in March 2015. Here, we present the 2HWC catalog, which is the result of the
first source search realized with the complete HAWC detector. Realized with 507
days of data and represents the most sensitive TeV survey to date for such a
large fraction of the sky. A total of 39 sources were detected, with an
expected contamination of 0.5 due to background fluctuation. Out of these
sources, 16 are more than one degree away from any previously reported TeV
source. The source list, including the position measurement, spectrum
measurement, and uncertainties, is reported. Seven of the detected sources may
be associated with pulsar wind nebulae, two with supernova remnants, two with
blazars, and the remaining 23 have no firm identification yet.Comment: Submitted 2017/02/09 to the Astrophysical Journa
Lepton Flavor Violation in the Two Higgs Doublet Model type III
We consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of type III which leads to
Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) at tree level in the leptonic sector.
In the framework of this model we can have, in principle, two situations: the
case (a) when both doublets acquire a vacuum expectation value different from
zero and the case (b) when only one of them is not zero. In addition, we show
that we can make two types of rotations for the flavor mixing matrices which
generates four types of lagrangians, with the rotation of type I we recover the
case (b) from the case (a) in the limit , and with the
rotation of type II we obtain the case (b) from (a) in the limit Moreover, two of the four possible lagrangians correspond to the models
of types I and II plus Flavor Changing (FC) interactions. The analitical
expressions of the partial lepton number violating widths and are derived for the cases (a) and (b) and both
types of rotations. In all cases these widths go asymptotically to zero in
the decoupling limit for all Higgses. We present from our analysis upper bounds
for the flavour changing transition and we show that such bounds
are sensitive to the VEV structure and the type of rotation utilized.Comment: 7 pages RevTeX4, 4 figures postscript, new section added and some new
