Combinatorics of 1-particle irreducible n-point functions via coalgebra in quantum field theory
We give a coalgebra structure on 1-vertex irreducible graphs which is that of
a cocommutative coassociative graded connected coalgebra. We generalize the
coproduct to the algebraic representation of graphs so as to express a bare
1-particle irreducible n-point function in terms of its loop order
contributions. The algebraic representation is so that graphs can be evaluated
as Feynman graphs
The first report of South American edrioasteroids and the paleoecology and ontogeny of rhenopyrgid echinoderms
A new species of rhenopyrgid edrioasteroid Rhenopyrgus piojoensis sp. nov. is described form the Silurian (Lower Lud− low) Los Espejos Formation in the Precordillera of Argentina. This species is the first reported edrioasteroid from South America. Rhenopyrgids are widely distributed in Ordovician through Devonian deposits of most continents. Numerous juvenile specimens show that the general bodyplan is organized early in ontogeny and that the pedenculate zone lengthens with age. Phylogenetic analysis shows that rhenopyrgids are more closely related to edrioasterid edrioasteroids such as edrioblastoids and cyathocystids than to pyrgocystid isorophids.Fil: Sumrall, Colin D.. Elliptic curves of large rank and small conductor
For r=6,7,...,11 we find an elliptic curve E/Q of rank at least r and the
smallest conductor known, improving on the previous records by factors ranging
from 1.0136 (for r=6) to over 100 (for r=10 and r=11). We describe our search
methods, and tabulate, for each r=5,6,...,11, the five curves of lowest
conductor, and (except for r=11) also the five of lowest absolute discriminant,

Capas finas de ZrO2 para mejorar la resistencia química de los vidriados mates de calcio
La resistencia al ataque químico de vidriados cerámicos susceptibles al mismo, concretamente formulados a partir de una
frita mate de calcio, se ha mejorado depositando en la superficie una capa delgada de óxido de circonio. Un sol de circonio
estabilizado es el precursor de la capa, el cual se deposita mediante aerografía sobre el vidriado cocido y con un tratamiento
térmico suave (Tmax ≈ 400 ºC), es transformado en ZrO2 y anclado a la superficie. Los ensayos de resistencia química
demuestran que el vidriado protegido no sufre un ataque apreciable visualmente por parte del ácido clorhídrico concentrado,
condiciones en las que el mismo vidriado sin el recubrimiento resulta gravemente dañado. El precursor utilizado genera una
capa de óxido de circonio que protege el vidriado subyacente, de modo que el ataque químico por parte del ácido clorhídrico

Popular matchings in the marriage and roommates problems
Popular matchings have recently been a subject of study in the context of the so-called House Allocation Problem, where the objective is to match applicants to houses over which the applicants have preferences. A matching M is called popular if there is no other matching M′ with the property that more applicants prefer their allocation in M′ to their allocation in M. In this paper we study popular matchings in the context of the Roommates Problem, including its special (bipartite) case, the Marriage Problem. We investigate the relationship between popularity and stability, and describe efficient algorithms to test a matching for popularity in these settings. We also show that, when ties are permitted in the preferences, it is NP-hard to determine whether a popular matching exists in both the Roommates and Marriage cases
Beyond deficit-based models of learners' cognition: Interpreting engineering students' difficulties with sense-making in terms of fine-grained epistemological and conceptual dynamics
Researchers have argued against deficit-based explanations of students'
troubles with mathematical sense-making, pointing instead to factors such as
epistemology: students' beliefs about knowledge and learning can hinder them
from activating and integrating productive knowledge they have. In this case
study of an engineering major solving problems (about content from his
introductory physics course) during a clinical interview, we show that "Jim"
has all the mathematical and conceptual knowledge he would need to solve a
hydrostatic pressure problem that we posed to him. But he reaches and sticks
with an incorrect answer that violates common sense. We argue that his lack of
mathematical sense-making-specifically, translating and reconciling between
mathematical and everyday/common-sense reasoning-stems in part from his
epistemological views, i.e., his views about the nature of knowledge and
learning. He regards mathematical equations as much more trustworthy than
everyday reasoning, and he does not view mathematical equations as expressing
meaning that tractably connects to common sense. For these reasons, he does not
view reconciling between common sense and mathematical formalism as either
necessary or plausible to accomplish. We, however, avoid a potential "deficit
trap"-substituting an epistemological deficit for a concepts/skills deficit-by
incorporating multiple, context-dependent epistemological stances into Jim's
cognitive dynamics. We argue that Jim's epistemological stance contains
productive seeds that instructors could build upon to support Jim's
mathematical sense-making: He does see common-sense as connected to formalism
(though not always tractably so) and in some circumstances this connection is

Unknotting the polarized vacuum of quenched QED
A knot-theoretic explanation is given for the rationality of the quenched QED
beta function. At the link level, the Ward identity entails cancellation of
subdivergences generated by one term of the skein relation, which in turn
implies cancellation of knots generated by the other term. In consequence, each
bare three-loop diagram has a rational Laurent expansion in the Landau gauge,
as is verified by explicit computation. Comparable simplification is found to
occur in scalar electrodynamics, when computed in the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau

O(1/N_f) Corrections to the Thirring Model in 2<d<4
The Thirring model, that is, a relativistic field theory of fermions with a
contact interaction between vector currents, is studied for dimensionalities
2<d<4 using the 1/N_f expansion, where N_f is the number of fermion species.
The model is found to have no ultraviolet divergences at leading order provided
a regularization respecting current conservation is used. Explicit O(1/N_f)
corrections are computed, and the model shown to be renormalizable at this
order in the massless limit; renormalizability appears to hold to all orders
due to a special case of Weinberg's theorem. This implies there is a universal
amplitude for four particle scattering in the asymptotic regime. Comparisons

Testing Hardy nonlocality proof with genuine energy-time entanglement
We show two experimental realizations of Hardy ladder test of quantum
nonlocality using energy-time correlated photons, following the scheme proposed
by A. Cabello \emph{et al.} [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{102}, 040401 (2009)].
Unlike, previous energy-time Bell experiments, these tests require precise
tailored nonmaximally entangled states. One of them is equivalent to the
two-setting two-outcome Bell test requiring a minimum detection efficiency. The
reported experiments are still affected by the locality and detection
loopholes, but are free of the post-selection loophole of previous energy-time
