A unified approach to controller design for achieving ISS and related properties
A unified approach to the design of controllers achieving various specified input-to-state stability (ISS) like properties is presented. Both full state and measurement feedback cases are considered. Synthesis procedures based on dynamic programming are given using the recently developed results on controller synthesis to achieve uniform l∞ bound. Our results provide a link between the ISS literature and the nonlinear H∞ design literature. © 2005 IEEE

Analysis of input-to-state stability for discrete time nonlinear systems via dynamic programming
The input-to-state stability (ISS) property for systems with disturbances has received considerable attention over the past decade or so, with many applications and characterizations reported in the literature. The main purpose of this paper is to present analysis results for ISS that utilize dynamic programming techniques to characterize minimal ISS gains and transient bounds. These characterizations naturally lead to computable necessary and sufficient conditions for ISS. Our results make a connection between ISS and optimization problems in nonlinear dissipative systems theory (including L2-gain analysis and nonlinear H∞ theory). As such, the results presented address an obvious gap in the literature. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved
Effect of acute exercise on serum growth hormone and fatty acid levels in elite male water polo players
The aim of study was to estimate the effect of acute exercise on serum growth
hormone (GH) and fatty acid (FFA) levels in elite water polo players. Twelve
male water polo players (20.50 ± 2.02 years) and eleven non-athletic male
subjects (20.55 ± 1.04 years) participated in this study. In order to
determine GH and FFA responses to acute exercise, a treadmill-running test
was performed following an incremental protocol. Pre-exercise blood samples
for both athletes and non-athletes were taken at 9 AM. Post-exercise samples
were taken immediately after and 30 min after the treadmill running test.
Water polo players had significantly lower baseline values of serum GH
concentration compared to controls, whereas serum FFA concentration was
significantly higher in water polo players compared to controls (p<0.01;
p<0.05, respectively). In both groups, concentration of GH was significantly
higher immediately after and after the 30-min of recovery compared to
baseline levels (p<0.05). In water polo players, the concentration of FFA was
significantly decreased immediately after and after the 30-min of recovery
compared to baseline levels (p<0.05). No significant response to maximal
exercise test was observed in the control group for serum FFA concentration.
Our research indicates that acute exercise resulted in a significant increase
in serum GH and reduction in fatty acid levels in elite water polo players.

Meat quality characteristics of DurocxYorkshire, DurocxYorkshirexwild boar and wild boar
Chemical composition, pH value, fatty acids profile, cholesterol content,
color and sensory analysis of pork meat from Duroc x Yorkshire (D x Y),
Duroc x Yorkshire x wild boar (D x Y x WB) crossbreeds and wild boars (WB)
was investigated. Samples for all tests were taken from m. longissimus
dorsi. Chemical composition and pH value were tested by ISO methods. Fatty
acid and cholesterol determination was performed by gas chromatography
technique with external standard method. Color was determined instrumentally
using the thristimulus colourimeter. The overall sensoric quality
(appearance, texture and smell) of samples of raw meat was evaluated. In
evaluation of results the scoring system was used. In chemical composition
(moisture, fat, protein, ash) and pH values statistically significant difference was noted (p<0,05) between each of the examined groups. Also, among all the examined groups statistically significant difference (p<0,05) was found for fatty acids and cholesterol content. Measurment of the color of meat from all three groups showed that the L*, a * b *, Chroma and Hue angle were also statistically significantly different (p<0,01)
Phase Synchronization Control of Robotic Networks on Periodic Ellipses with Adaptive Network Topologies
This paper presents a novel formation control method for a large number of robots or vehicles described by Euler-Lagrange (EL) systems moving in elliptical orbits. A new
coordinate transformation method for phase synchronization of networked EL systems in elliptical trajectories is introduced to define desired formation patterns. The proposed phase synchronization controller synchronizes the motions of agents, thereby yielding a smaller synchronization error than an uncoupled control law in the presence of bounded disturbances. A complex time-varying and switching network topology, constructed by the
adaptive graph Laplacian matrix, relaxes the standard requirement of consensus stability, even permitting stabilization on an arbitrary unbalanced graph. The proofs of stability are constructed by robust contraction analysis, a relatively new nonlinear stability tool. An
example of reconfiguring swarms of spacecraft in Low Earth Orbit shows the effectiveness of the proposed phase synchronization controller for a large number of complex EL systems moving in elliptical orbits
Second Generation Leptoquark Search in p\bar{p} Collisions at = 1.8 TeV
We report on a search for second generation leptoquarks with the D\O\
detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at = 1.8 TeV.
This search is based on 12.7 pb of data. Second generation leptoquarks
are assumed to be produced in pairs and to decay into a muon and quark with
branching ratio or to neutrino and quark with branching ratio
. We obtain cross section times branching ratio limits as a function
of leptoquark mass and set a lower limit on the leptoquark mass of 111
GeV/c for and 89 GeV/c for at the 95%\

Search for Top Squark Pair Production in the Dielectron Channel
This report describes the first search for top squark pair production in the
channel stop_1 stopbar_1 -> b bbar chargino_1 chargino_1 -> ee+jets+MEt using
74.9 +- 8.9 pb^-1 of data collected using the D0 detector. A 95% confidence
level upper limit on sigma*B is presented. The limit is above the theoretical
expectation for sigma*B for this process, but does show the sensitivity of the
current D0 data set to a particular topology for new physics.Comment: Five pages, including three figures, submitted to PRD Brief Report
Measurement of the Boson Mass
A measurement of the mass of the boson is presented based on a sample of
5982 decays observed in collisions at
= 1.8~TeV with the D\O\ detector during the 1992--1993 run. From a
fit to the transverse mass spectrum, combined with measurements of the
boson mass, the boson mass is measured to be .Comment: 12 pages, LaTex, style Revtex, including 3 postscript figures

Jet Production via Strongly-Interacting Color-Singlet Exchange in Collisions
A study of the particle multiplicity between jets with large rapidity
separation has been performed using the D{\O}detector at the Fermilab Tevatron
Collider operating at TeV. A significant excess of
low-multiplicity events is observed above the expectation for color-exchange
processes. The measured fractional excess is , which is consistent with a strongly-interacting
color-singlet (colorless) exchange process and cannot be explained by
electroweak exchange alone. A lower limit of 0.80% (95% C.L.) is obtained on
the fraction of dijet events with color-singlet exchange, independent of the
