Thin structure of steel St52, 3N and possible reasons of defect of large-capacity billets AT "YURMASH"
Electron-microscopic and x-ray investigations of structurally-phase and intense-deformed condition of material made of defective and conditional forged billet at «Yurmash» have been carried out. It is ascertained that in steel made from the defective forged piece the fraction of perlite is 1,5...2 times higher and lamellar perlite prevails. Local long-range tensions in both conditions of material are commensurable with fluidity limit. The content of sulfides is considerably higher in the steel made from the defective billet. They are located in the body of ferrite grains and along the interfaces. In the material made from the conditional forging they are located only inside of grains. The scalar density of dislocations in ferrite grains and in ferrite layers of perlite of the defected billet is one and a half time higher than in conditional metal. All the totality of the listed above circumstances allows stating that the main cause of cracking of large-capacity billets made of steel St52, 3N is not a full conformity of the chemical compound to branded requirements

Titanium Carbide: Nanotechnology, Properties, Application
The paper develops scientific and technological bases for fabrication of titanium carbide which is a nanocomponent of composite materials. The authors determine optimum technology specifications and the main titanium carbide properties: fineness of titaniferous raw materials, carbide-forming agent quantity, set temperature of plasma flow, tempering temperature, titanium carbide yield, productivity, specific surface, size and shape of particles. The paper includes equations to describe how the major specifications of the fabrication technique influence the content of titanium carbide and free carbon in the end product
Optimizing Technological Parameters of the Reduction Processes in Treating Steels in a Ladle Furnace
This work reports the possible development of reduction processes when treating the molten metal and slag using a ladle furnace under conditions of intensive stirring with an inert gas. The industrial data have been received, confirming the possibility of decreasing the concentration of ferrous and manganese oxides in the slag and stabilizing the contents of manganese and silicon in the metal

Extraction of Chromium from Carbon Ferrochromium Residual Wastes
This work reports the problem of processing residual wastes after producing carbon ferrochrome by recycling dust using a hydrometallurgical method with the purpose of extracting the basic component - chromium. The X-ray diffraction analysis results, chemical and granulometric compositions of dust from the carbon ferrochrome production are given. The method for the production of chemical-enrichment concentrate (CEC) by processing ferrous dust is described, with obtaining a middling product - sodium mono-chromate with its further reduction to chromium hydroxide, followed by autoclave leaching, and resulting in the production of chemically enriched chrome concentrate. The plant used for autoclave leaching and filtering is schematically depicted. The smelting process of metallic chromium using the ladle aluminothermic method is described
Search for the exotic resonance in the NOMAD experiment
A search for exotic Theta baryon via Theta -> proton +Ks decay mode in the
NOMAD muon neutrino DIS data is reported. The special background generation
procedure was developed. The proton identification criteria are tuned to
maximize the sensitivity to the Theta signal as a function of xF which allows
to study the Theta production mechanism. We do not observe any evidence for the
Theta state in the NOMAD data. We provide an upper limit on Theta production
rate at 90% CL as 2.13 per 1000 of neutrino interactions.Comment: Accepted to European Physics Journal
Inclusive production of and mesons in charged current interactions
The inclusive production of the meson resonances ,
and in neutrino-nucleus charged current interactions has been
studied with the NOMAD detector exposed to the wide band neutrino beam
generated by 450 GeV protons at the CERN SPS. For the first time the
meson is observed in neutrino interactions. The statistical
significance of its observation is 6 standard deviations. The presence of
in neutrino interactions is reliably established. The average
multiplicity of these three resonances is measured as a function of several
kinematic variables. The experimental results are compared to the
multiplicities obtained from a simulation based on the Lund model. In addition,
the average multiplicity of in antineutrino - nucleus

A combined analysis of short-baseline neutrino experiments in the (3+1) and (3+2) sterile neutrino oscillation hypotheses
We investigate adding two sterile neutrinos to resolve the apparent tension
existing between short-baseline neutrino oscillation results and
CPT-conserving, four-neutrino oscillation models. For both (3+1) and (3+2)
models, the level of statistical compatibility between the combined dataset
from the null short-baseline experiments Bugey, CHOOZ, CCFR84, CDHS, KARMEN,
and NOMAD, on the one hand; and the LSND dataset, on the other, is computed. A
combined analysis of all seven short-baseline experiments, including LSND, is
also performed, to obtain the favored regions in neutrino mass and mixing
parameter space for both models. Finally, four statistical tests to compare the
(3+1) and the (3+2) hypotheses are discussed. All tests show that (3+2) models
fit the existing short-baseline data significantly better than (3+1) models.Comment: 16 pages, 15 figures. Added NOMAD data to the analysis, one
