The role of secondary Reggeons in central meson production

We estimate the contribution of f_2 trajectory exchange to the central \eta and \eta^\prime production. It is shown that secondary Reggeons may give a large contribution to processes of double diffractive meson production at high energy.Comment: 7 pages, Latex, 5 figure

Anomalous light shift through quantum jumps in quasi-resonant Rayleigh scattering

An anomalous light shift in the precession of a ground-state Zeeman coherence is observed: the Larmor frequency increases with the strength of a drive that is blue (red) detuned from a transition out of the lower (upper) energy level. Our measurements are made on Rb 85 atoms traversing an optical cavity containing a few photons; shifts as large as 1% per photon are recorded. The anomalous shift arises from an accumulation of phase driven by quantum jumps. It is stochastic and accompanied by broadening.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

A study of the f0(1370), f0(1500), f0(2000) and f2(1950) observed in the centrally produced 4pi final states

The production and decay properties of the f0(1370), f0(1500), f0(2000) and f2(1950) have been studied in central pp interactions at 450 GeV/c. The dPT, phi and |t| distributions of these resonances are presented. For the J = 0 states, the f0(1370) and f0(2000) have similar dPT and phi dependences. These are different to the dPT and phi dependences of the f0(980), f0(1500) and f0(1710). For the J = 2 states the f2(1950) has different dependences to the f2(1270) and f2'(1520). This shows that the dPT and phi dependences are not just J phenomena.Comment: 14 pages, Latex, 4 Figure

Control of conditional quantum beats in cavity QED: amplitude decoherence and phase shifts

We implement a simple feedback mechanism on a two-mode cavity QED system to preserve the Zeeman coherence of a ground state superposition that generates quantum beats on the second-order correlation function. Our investigation includes theoretical and experimental studies that show how to prevent a shift away from the Larmor frequency and associated decoherence caused by Rayleigh scattering. The protocol consists of turning off the drive of the system after the detection of a first photon and letting it evolve in the dark. Turning the drive back on after a pre-set time reveals a phase accumulated only from Larmor precession, with the amplitude of the quantum beat more than a factor of two larger than with continuous drive.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figure

Systematization of tensor mesons and the determination of the 2++2^{++} glueball

It is shown that new data on the (JPC=2++)(J^{PC}=2^{++})-resonances in the mass range M17002400M\sim1700-2400 MeV support the linearity of the (n,M2)(n,M^2)-trajectories, where nn is the radial quantum number of quark--antiquark state. In this way all vacancies for the isoscalar tensor qqˉq\bar q-mesons in the range up to 2450 MeV are filled in. This allows one to fix the broad f2f_2-state with M=2000±30M=2000\pm30 MeV and Γ=530±40\Gamma=530\pm40 MeV as the lowest tensor glueball. Two-photon detuning and decoherence in cavity electromagnetically induced transparency for quantized fields

The interaction of a quantized field with three-level atoms in Λ\Lambda configuration inside a two-mode cavity is analyzed in the small noise approximation. The atoms are in a two-photon detuning with respect to the carriers of the field. We calculate the stationary quadrature noise spectrum of the field outside the cavity in the case where the input probe field is a squeezed state and the input pump field is a coherent state. The mean value of the field is unaltered in all the analysis: the atoms shows electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). The effect of the atoms' base level decoherence in the cavity output field is also studied. It is found that the output field is very sensitive to two-photon detuning.Comment: 8 page

Comments on the Quark Content of the Scalar Meson f0(1370)f_0(1370)

Based on the measurements of (Ds+,D+)f0(1370)π+(D_s^+,D^+)\to f_0(1370)\pi^+ we determine, in a model independent way, the allowed ssˉs\bar s content in the scalar meson f0(1370)f_0(1370). We find that, on the one hand, if this isoscalar resonance is a pure nnˉn\bar n state [ nnˉ(uuˉ+ddˉ)/2]n\bar n\equiv(u\bar u+d\bar d)/\sqrt{2} ], a very large WW-annihilation term will be needed to accommodate Ds+f0(1370)π+D_s^+\to f_0(1370)\pi^+. On the other hand, the ssˉs\bar s component of f0(1370)f_0(1370) should be small enough to avoid excessive Ds+f0(1370)π+D_s^+\to f_0(1370)\pi^+ induced from the external WW-emission. Measurement of f0(1370)f_0(1370) production in the decay Ds+K+Kπ+D_s^+\to K^+K^-\pi^+ will be useful to test the above picture. For the decay D0f0(1370)Kˉ0D^0\to f_0(1370)\bar K^0 which is kinematically barely or even not allowed, depending on the mass of f0(1370)f_0(1370), we find that the finite width effect of f0(1370)f_0(1370) plays a crucial role on the resonant three-body decay D0f0(1370)Kˉ0π+πKˉ0D^0\to f_0(1370)\bar K^0\to\pi^+\pi^-\bar K^0.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure

A coupled channel analysis of the centrally produced K+K- and pi+pi- final states in pp interactions at 450 GeV/c

A coupled channel analysis of the centrally produced K+K- and pi+pi- final states has been performed in pp collisions at an incident beam momentum of 450 GeV/c. The pole positions and branching ratios to pipi and KK of the f0(980), f0(1370), f0(1500) and f0(1710) have been determined. A systematic study of the production properties of all the resonances observed in the pi+pi- and K+K- channels has been performed.Comment: 16 pages, Latex, 5 Figure
