Knowledge on-demand: a function of the future spatial knowledge infrastructure
This paper conceptualises a future Spatial Knowledge Infrastructure (SKI), aparadigm shift from supplier-driven data and spatial analytics, to where end usersquery data at will to obtain new insights. The SKI addresses problems from theusers’ viewpoint, seeking real-time answers for informed decision making, ratherthan from a data producer’s perspective. The driving motivation, to satisfy society’sgrowing expectation for knowledge on-demand, targeting spatial infrastructuredesign from a knowledge-out rather than a data-in perspective. This paper exploresthe SKI framework and how Semantic Web technologies can be used to deliverservices in step with the knowledge on-demand revolution
