Estratégias de Advocacy no Terceiro Setor enquanto função das Relações Públicas: campanhas de Advocacy no IMVF: um estudo de caso
Dissertação apresentada à Escola Superior de Comunicação Social como parte dos requisitos para obtenção de grau de mestre em Gestão Estratégica das Relações Públicas.Esta dissertação final de Mestrado defende que as estratégias de advocacy podem ser uma, entre muitas outras, funções das Relações Públicas, entendidas de um ponto de vista estratégico e no âmbito da Comunicação no Interesse Público.
Neste contexto, defendemos estratégias de advocacy dentro do terceiro setor enquanto ações que buscam uma solução para resolver ou ajudar a resolver um problema que afeta a sociedade. Fazemos a distinção entre advocacy e lobbying, dois conceitos que tendem a confundir-se, defendendo que o primeiro pode englobar o segundo, mas tem um entendimento mais vasto.

In my point of view, Public Relations must be strategic and act as Communication in the Public Interest.
In this environment I defend advocacy strategies inside the third sector as actions that intend to find a solution to solve or help to solve problems that affect society.
This Master thesis distinguishes advocacy and lobbying. Both concepts are frequently mixed up. I believe the first one can counter the second one, but advocacy is much more than just practice only lobbying.
I choose to do a Case Study and my object of study was a Non-Governmental Development Organization called Instituto Marques de Valle Flôr, or IMVF, to analyze if it develops advocacy strategies in the sense I defend it
The lightcurve of the macronova associated with the long-short burst GRB 060614
The {\it Swift}-detected GRB 060614 was a unique burst that straddles an
imaginary divide between long- and short-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), and
its physical origin has been heavily debated over the years. Recently, a
distinct very-soft F814W-band excess at days after the burst was
identified in a joint-analysis of VLT and HST optical afterglow data of
GRB~060614, which has been interpreted as evidence for an accompanying
Li-Paczynski macronova (also called a kilonova). Under the assumption that the
afterglow data in the time interval of days after the burst are due
to external forward shock emission, when this assumption is extrapolated to
later times it is found that there is an excess of flux in several multi-band
photometric observations. This component emerges at 4 days after the
burst, and it may represent the first time that a multi-epoch/band lightcurve
of a macronova has been obtained. The macronova associated with GRB 060614
peaked at days after the burst, which is significantly earlier
than that observed for a supernova associated with a long-duration GRB. Due to
the limited data, no strong evidence for a temperature evolution is found. We
derive a conservative estimate of the macronova rate of , implying a promising prospect
for detecting the gravitational wave radiation from compact object mergers by
upcoming Advanced LIGO/VIRGO/KAGRA detectors (i.e., the rate is ).Comment: The version published in ApJL. Fig.1 has been updated, main

Aligned Drawings of Planar Graphs

result of Da Lozzo et al., and prove that a planar graph and a single
pseudoline have an aligned drawing with a prescribed convex
drawing of the outer face. We also study the less restrictive version of the
alignment problem with respect to one line, where only a set of vertices is
given and we need to determine whether they can be collinear. We show that the

Thermal body patterns for healthy Brazilian adults (male and female)
The aim of this study was to establish the skin temperature (Tsk) thermal profile for the Brazilian population and to compare the differences between female and male Brazilian adults. A total of 117 female and 103 male were examined with a thermographic camera. The Tsk of 24 body regions of interest (ROI) were recorded and analyzed. Male Tsk results were compared to female and 10 ROI were evaluated with respect to the opposite side of the body (right vs. left) to identify the existence of significant contralateral Tsk differences (?Tsk). When compared right to left, the largest contralateral ?Tsk was 0.3 °C. The female vs. male analysis yielded significant differences (p menor que0.05) in 13 of the 24 ROI. Thigh regions, both ventral and dorsal, had the highest ?Tsk by sex (? 1.0 °C). Tsk percentile below P5 or P10 and over P9o or P95 may be used to characterize hypothermia and hyperthermia states, respectively. Thermal patterns and Tsk tables 2 were established for Brazilian adult men and women for each ROI. There is a low Tsk variation between sides of the body and gender differences were only significant for some ROIs

Time required to stabilize thermographic images at rest
Thermography for scientific research and practical purposes requires a series of procedures to obtain images that should be standardized; one of the most important is the time required for acclimatization in the controlled environment. Thus, the objective of this study was to identify the appropriate acclimatization time in rest to reach a thermal balance on young people skin. Forty-four subjects participated in the study, 18 men (22.3 ± 3.1 years) and 26 women (21.7 ± 2.5 years). Thermographic images were collected using a thermal imager (Fluke ®), totaling 44 images over a period of 20 minutes. The skin temperature (TSK) was measured at the point of examination which included the 0 minute, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20. The body regions of interest (ROI) analyzed included the hands, forearms, arms, thighs, legs, chest and abdomen. We used the Friedman test with post hoc Dunn?s in order to establish the time at rest required to obtain a TSK balance and the Mann-Whitney test was used to compare age, BMI, body fat percentage and temperature variations between men and women, considering always a significance level of pmenor que0.05. Results showed that women had significantly higher temperature variations than men (pmenor que0.01) along the time. In men, only the body region of the abdomen obtained a significant variance (pmenor que0.05) on the analyzed period, both in the anterior and posterior part. In women, the anterior abdomen and thighs, and the posterior part of the hands, forearms and abdomen showed significant differences (pmenor que0.05). Based on our results, it can be concluded that the time in rest condition required reaching a TSK balance in young men and women is variable, but for whole body analysis it is recommended at least 10 minutes for both sexes
Poor youths and ‘pacification’:dilemmas between discourse and practice from the perspective of young people about policing in Rio de Janeiro’s favelas
This article explores the social representations of youngsters from favelas in Rio de Janeiro on
police practices in the context of the implementation of ‘Pacifying Police Units’. Drawing from
fieldwork, participant observation and interviews, the authors analyse the narratives and practices
which influence relations between young people and the police in the Complexo do Alemão
area of the city. The interviewees expressed a demand for further public security and social
services. Young people noted some progress in police practices, although these changes appear
to be unstable. The permanence of violent practices and prejudice by the police was verified in
youngsters’ narratives. Any change in this scenario should be based on the replacement of the
war logic of ‘pacification’ for another logic, that of participation.2030-01-0
Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes present two distinct modes of nucleus and kinetoplast segregation during cell cycle.
Abstract: Here, we show the morphological events associated with organelle segregation and their timing in the cell cycle of a reference strain of Leishmania (L.) amazonensis promastigotes, the main causative agent of Tegumentary leishmaniasis in the Americas. We show evidences that during the cell cycle, L. amazonensis promastigotes present two distinct modes of nucleus and kinetoplast segregation, which occur in different temporal order in different proportions of cells. We used DAPI-staining and EdU-labeling to monitor the segregation of DNA-containing organelles and DNA replication in wild-type parasites. The emergence of a new flagellum was observed using a specific monoclonal antibody. The results show that L. amazonensis cell cycle division is peculiar, with 65% of the dividing cells duplicating the kinetoplast before the nucleus, and the remaining 35% doing the opposite or duplicating both organelles concomitantly. In both cases, the new flagellum appeared during S to G2 phase in 1N1K cells and thus before the segregation of both DNA-containing organelles; however, we could not determine the exact timing of flagellar synthesis. Most of these results were confirmed by the synchronization of parasites using hydroxyurea. Altogether, our data show that during the cell cycle of L. amazonensis promastigotes, similarly to L. donovani, the segregation of nucleus and kinetoplast do not follow a specific order, especially when compared to other trypanosomatids, reinforcing the idea that this characteristic seems to be species-specific and may represent differences in cellular biology among members of the Leishmania genus
The optical/NIR afterglow of GRB 111209A: Complex yet not unprecedented
Context. Afterglows of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are simple in the most basic model, but can show many complex features. The ultra-long duration GRB 111209A, one of the longest GRBs ever detected, also has the best-monitored afterglow in this rare class of GRBs.
Aims. We want to address the question whether GRB 111209A was a special event beyond its extreme duration alone, and whether it is a classical GRB or another kind of high-energy transient. The afterglow may yield significant clues.
Methods. We present afterglow photometry obtained in seven bands with the GROND imager as well as in further seven bands with the Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope (UVOT) on-board the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory. The light curve is analysed by multi-band modelling and joint fitting with power-laws and broken power-laws, and we use the contemporaneous GROND data to study the evolution of the spectral energy distribution. We compare the optical afterglow to a large ensemble we have analysed in earlier works, and especially to that of another ultra-long event, GRB 130925A. We furthermore undertake a photometric study of the host galaxy.
Results. We find a strong, chromatic rebrightening event at ≈0.8 days after the GRB, during which the spectral slope becomes redder. After this, the light curve decays achromatically, with evidence for a break at about 9 days after the trigger. The afterglow luminosity is found to not be exceptional. We find that a double-jet model is able to explain the chromatic rebrightening. The afterglow features have been detected in other events and are not unique.
Conclusions. The duration aside, the GRB prompt emission and afterglow parameters of GRB 111209A are in agreement with the known distributions for these parameters. While the central engine of this event may differ from that of classical GRBs, there are multiple lines of evidence pointing to GRB 111209A resulting from the core-collapse of a massive star with a stripped envelope
HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE OBSERVATIONS OF THE AFTERGLOW, SUPERNOVA, AND HOST GALAXY ASSOCIATED WITH THE EXTREMELY BRIGHT GRB 130427A
We present Hubble Space Telescope (HST) observations of the exceptionally bright and luminous Swift gamma-ray burst (GRB), GRB 130427A. At z = 0.34, this burst affords an excellent opportunity to study the supernova (SN) and host galaxy associated with an intrinsically extremely luminous burst (Eiso > 1054 erg):more luminous than any previous GRB with a spectroscopically associated SN.We use the combination of the image quality, UV capability, and invariant point-spread function of HST to provide the best possible separation of the afterglow, host, and SN contributions to the observed light~17 rest-frame days after the burst, utilizing a host subtraction spectrum obtained one year later. Advanced Camera for Surveys grism observations show that the associated SN, SN 2013cq, has an overall spectral shape and luminosity similar to SN 1998bw (with a photospheric velocity, vph ~ 15,000 km s-1). The positions of the bluer features are better matched by the higher velocity SN 2010bh (vph ~ 30,000 km s-1), but this SN is significantly fainter and fails to reproduce the overall spectral shape, perhaps indicative of velocity structure in the ejecta. We find that the burst originated ~4 kpc from the nucleus of a moderately star forming (1M_ yr-1), possibly interacting disk galaxy. The absolute magnitude, physical size, and morphology of this galaxy, as well as the location of the GRB within it, are also strikingly similar to those of GRB 980425/SN 1998bw. The similarity of the SNe and environment from both the most luminous and least luminous GRBs suggests that broadly similar progenitor stars can create GRBs across six orders of magnitude in isotropic energy
