    Legal Issues in the rehabilitation of abandoned housing projects of the liquidated housing-developer-companies in Peninsular Malaysia

    Abandoned housing projects is one of the biggest problems in the housing industry in Peninsular Malaysia. Even though since the Independence days in 1957, the Malaysian Government have provided laws and policies to govern housing industry, yet abandoned housing projects problem is still an unsettled issue until today.The real victims are the purchasers themselves.Usually when a housing developer company is wound up, the affair and business of the company are taken over either by the private liquidator or provisional liquidator or the official Receiver (OR) under the Department of Insolvency.The liquidator may rehabilitate the abandoned projects left by the wound up housing developer companies, if the projects are viable for rehabilitation with the approval of the creditors, contributories, the committee of inspection and the court and that there is adequate fund to finance the rehabilitation. Otherwise, if the project is not viable, particularly because there are insufficient funds to run the rehabilitation, the projects may be stalled forever without any prospects for rehabilitation, to the detriment of the purchasers. This article discusses the law and practice in the rehabilitation of abandoned housing projects in Peninsular Malaysia of the wound-up-housing-developer-companies.At the ending part of this article the author proposes certain suggestions for facing the problems of abandoned housing projects of the wound up housing developer companies and their rehabilitation in Peninsular Malaysia

    IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL USING A FOUR-PHASE TECHNIQUE

    This article describes a classroom action research held in writing class using a four-phase technique to improve the eleventh grade students’ writing skill and improve classroom situation. The method used in the research is classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle included four stages: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research data were collected by using observation, interview, document, photograph and test (pre-test and post-test). The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis which consists of assembling the data, coding the data, comparing the data, building interpretation, and reporting the outcomes for the qualitative data and descriptive statistics for the quantitative data. The research findings show that a four-phase technique is able to improve students’ wriitng skill and classroom situation.     Characteristics & cutability of farmed rusa deer (Cervus timorensis) carcasses for marketing of vension.

    Rusa deer are the only viable commercial tropical deer species for farming in the tropics because of their hardiness, adaptability and prolific characteristics. Twelve entirely rusa stags were slaughtered according to halal procedure and were used for carcass evaluation and cutability studies. Three carcass categories; large (46 to 55 kg), medium (36 to 45 kg) and small (25 to 35 kg) were developed for rusa stags. This study indicated that entire Moluccan rusa deer stags with mean live weight ranging from 50 to 80 kg and age groups of 15 to 29 months showed dressing percentage of 58 to 62%. Carcass conformation of rusa stags showed significantly (p<0.05) higher forequarters portion than hindquarters for medium (mean weight, 40.8 kg) and large (mean weight, 50.0 kg) carcass categories. The large carcass category was significantly (p<0.05) bigger in hindquarters portion (47.3% vs. 45.4%) than the medium carcass category. This study showed that medium and large carcass categories are more suitable for boneless cuts since the muscles were larger than small carcasses which makes them easy for deboning. Stag carcasses showed higher proportion of the musculature in the high-priced areas of the carcass such as in round cuts. Bone-in cuts are more suitable for small carcasses since the muscles were smaller and difficult to debone (mean weight, 30.5 kg). About 90% of total deer carcasses in the small carcass category were developed into retail bone-in cuts (excluding 9.9% of breast, shank and trimming). The carcass characteristics and cutability information derived from this study can be used as a basis for a venison marketing strategy for deer farming and production in the tropics

    Pengaruh Kesegaran Jasmani dan Status Sosial Ekonomi Terhadap Prestasi Belajar Siswa SMP Negeri 17 Halamahera Selatan

    Penelitian Ini adalah jenis penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Kesegaran Jasmani dan Status Sosial Ekonomi Terhadap Prestasi Belajar Siswa SMP Negeri 17 Halamahera Selatan. Populasi adalah seluruh siswa SMP Negeri 17 Halmahera Selatan yang berjenis kelamin laki-laki berjumlah 25 orang. Teknik penentuan sampel adalah Sampel Jenuh. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik persentase dengan menggunakan aplikasi SPSS 21,00 dengan taraf signifikan α = 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : 1) Ada Pengaruh Kesegaran Jasmani Terhadap Prestasi Belajar siswa SMP Negeri 17 halmahera Selatan sebesar 0,701 atau 70,1%. 2) ada pengaruh Status Sosial Ekonomi terhadap Prestasi Belajar siswa SMP Negeri 17 halmahera Selatan sebesar 0,710 atau 71,0%. 3) ada pengaruh Kesegaran Jasmani dan Status Sosial Ekonomi terhadap Prestasi Belajar siswa SMP Negeri 17 Halmahera Selatan sebesar 0,805 atau 80,5%.     ALAN DAHLAN: “Pengaruh Penerapan Tes Formatif Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Pada Pokok Bahasan Bangun Datar Segiempat Kelas VII Di SMP PUI Gegesik Kabupaten Cirebon” Pada dunia pendidikan persekolahan, matematika termasuk ke dalam salah satu mata pelajaran yang diajarkan disekolah. Sehingga penting bagi siswa untuk mempelajari matematika. Akan tetapi, siswa mempelajari matematika masih kurang dalam hal mengidentifikasi atau merumuskan pertanyaan, mengidentifikasi kriteria-kriteria untuk mempertimbangkan jawaban yang mungkin, mengidentifikasi kesimpulan, mengidentifikasi alasan yang dinyatakan, kemampuan memberi alasan serta ikut terlibat dalam menyimpulkan. Akibatnya kemungkinan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tidak berkembang. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji respon siswa terhadap penerapan tes formatif dan untuk mengkaji kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa setelah diterapkan tes formatif. Selain itu, penelitian ini untuk mengkaji seberapa besar pengaruh penerapan tes formatif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pokok bahasan bangun datar segiempat kelas VII di SMP PUI Gegesik Kabupaten Cirebon. Tes formatif merupakan tes yang diselenggarakan ditengah-tengah program pengajaran bahkan dapat dilaksanakan setelah selesai proses pembelajaran dalam rangka mengumpulkan data/informasi mengenai kualitas proses pembelajaran. Dengan pemberian tes formatif, diharapkan siswa dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritisnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP PUI Gegesik Kabupaten Cirebon berjumlah 224 siswa. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan cluster random sampling dan didapat kelas VII F dengan jumlah 36 siswa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan tes. Hasil penelitian menggunakan SPSS versi 16.0 didapat nilai uji hipotesis menunjukan bahwa thitung adalah 2,805. Nilai ttabel adalah 2,032. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa thitung > t tabel yaitu 2,805 > 2,032 yang berarti bahwa Hipotesis H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan tes formatif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Kelinieran regresi pada Anova F = 7,886 dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.008. Oleh karena nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 0.05 maka regresi dapat dipakai untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan tes formatif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Persamaan regresinya = 9.907 + 1,058 . Ini berarti jika tanpa penerapan tes formatif maka kemampuan sebesar 9,907 dan koefisien regresi sebesar 1,058 menyatakan bahwa setiap penerapan tes formatif akan mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebesar 1,058.
