Operation on text entities
There are defined level of orthogonality for text entities. There are built orthogonal entities. There are identified operations on orthogonal entities and for each operation there are speci-fied the proprieties and the signification from applicability point of view. There is described software use to implement operations with structured entities.Text entity, orthogonality, operation.
Distribution of the Object Oriented Databases. A Viewpoint of the MVDB Model's Methodology and Architecture
In databases, much work has been done towards extending models with advanced tools such as view technology, schema evolution support, multiple classification, role modeling and viewpoints. Over the past years, most of the research dealing with the object multiple representation and evolution has proposed to enrich the monolithic vision of the classical object approach in which an object belongs to one hierarchy class. In particular, the integration of the viewpoint mechanism to the conventional object-oriented data model gives it flexibility and allows one to improve the modeling power of objects. The viewpoint paradigm refers to the multiple descriptions, the distribution, and the evolution of object. Also, it can be an undeniable contribution for a distributed design of complex databases. The motivation of this paper is to define an object data model integrating viewpoints in databases and to present a federated database architecture integrating multiple viewpoint sources following a local-as-extended-view data integration approach.object-oriented data model, OQL language, LAEV data integration approach, MVDB model, federated databases, Local-As-View Strategy.
Entity Evaluation
It is presented the based entity concept and operations on this kind of entity. There are defined appurtenance indicators and there are identified methods and ways for searching. The based entity evaluation is exemplified using the EBASOF software.entity concept, appurtenance indicators, computer software
NaCl-induced high-temperature corrosion of β21S Ti alloy
Titanium alloys are very interesting for aeronautics applications because of their low density, high mechanical resistance and good resistance to corrosion in aggressive environments. However, recent developments impose the use of these materials at higher temperatures than those initially envisaged (above 400 °C), revealing some uncertainties of their behavior. Depending on the operating conditions, the material can be exposed to variable humidity levels and, in some cases, can be in contact with silica or marine salt. This study aims to evaluate the influence of NaCl solid deposit on the behavior of b21S Ti alloy at 560 °C under realistic ambient atmospheres. The tests were carried out in laboratory air and in water vapor-enriched air, on uncoated samples and on samples with solid NaCl deposit. The reaction-product evolution (up to 600 h) was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis, SEM observations (surface and cross section), XRD and microhardness profiling on cross sections. An aggravation of the corrosion phenomena in the presence of NaCl solid deposit was observed, that was related to the presence of gaseous metal chlorides, leading to the establishment of an active corrosion process
Evanescent-wave coupled right angled buried waveguide: Applications in carbon nanotube mode-locking
In this paper we present a simple but powerful subgraph sampling primitive
that is applicable in a variety of computational models including dynamic graph
streams (where the input graph is defined by a sequence of edge/hyperedge
insertions and deletions) and distributed systems such as MapReduce. In the
case of dynamic graph streams, we use this primitive to prove the following
results:
-- Matching: First, there exists an space algorithm that
returns an exact maximum matching on the assumption the cardinality is at most
. The best previous algorithm used space where is the
number of vertices in the graph and we prove our result is optimal up to
logarithmic factors. Our algorithm has update time. Second,
there exists an space algorithm that returns an
-approximation for matchings of arbitrary size. (Assadi et al. (2015)
showed that this was optimal and independently and concurrently established the
same upper bound.) We generalize both results for weighted matching. Third,
there exists an space algorithm that returns a constant
approximation in graphs with bounded arboricity.
-- Vertex Cover and Hitting Set: There exists an space
algorithm that solves the minimum hitting set problem where is the
cardinality of the input sets and is an upper bound on the size of the
minimum hitting set. We prove this is optimal up to logarithmic factors. Our
algorithm has update time. The case corresponds to minimum
vertex cover.
Finally, we consider a larger family of parameterized problems (including
-matching, disjoint paths, vertex coloring among others) for which our
subgraph sampling primitive yields fast, small-space dynamic graph stream
algorithms. We then show lower bounds for natural problems outside this family
A Site Evaluation Campaign for a Ground Based Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope in Romania
Around the world, several scientific projects share the interest of a global
network of small Cherenkov telescopes for monitoring observations of the
brightest blazars - the DWARF network. A small, ground based, imaging
atmospheric Cherenkov telescope of last generation is intended to be installed
and operated in Romania as a component of the DWARF network. To prepare the
construction of the observatory, two support projects have been initiated.
Within the framework of these projects, we have assessed a number of possible
sites where to settle the observatory. In this paper we submit a brief report
on the general characteristics of the best four sites selected after the local
infrastructure, the nearby facilities and the social impact criteria have been
applied.Comment: 6 pages, 5 Postscript figure

Towards Integrated Mid-Infrared Gas Sensors.
Optical gas sensors play an increasingly important role in many applications. Sensing techniques based on mid-infrared absorption spectroscopy offer excellent stability, selectivity and sensitivity, for numerous possibilities expected for sensors integrated into mobile and wearable devices. Here we review recent progress towards the miniaturization and integration of optical gas sensors, with a focus on low-cost and low-power consumption devices
Old World megadroughts and pluvials during the Common Era
Climate model projections suggest widespread drying in the Mediterranean Basin and wetting in Fennoscandia in the coming decades largely as a consequence of greenhouse gas forcing of climate. To place these and other “Old World” climate projections into historical perspective based on more complete estimates of natural hydroclimatic variability, we have developed the “Old World Drought Atlas” (OWDA), a set of year-to-year maps of tree-ring reconstructed summer wetness and dryness over Europe and the Mediterranean Basin during the Common Era. The OWDA matches historical accounts of severe drought and wetness with a spatial completeness not previously available. In addition, megadroughts reconstructed over north-central Europe in the 11th and mid-15th centuries reinforce other evidence from North America and Asia that droughts were more severe, extensive, and prolonged over Northern Hemisphere land areas before the 20th century, with an inadequate understanding of their causes. The OWDA provides new data to determine the causes of Old World drought and wetness and attribute past climate variability to forced and/or internal variability
