Ophiogomphus cecilia

Con los datos que disponemos actualmente podemos afirmar que la especie no se encuentra en España. Se ha catalogado un ejemplar de un adulto de esta especie en la Región Biogeográfica Mediterránea en Portugal (Seabra, 1937), pero la localidad de captura presenta dudas (p. ej. Verdú & Galante, 2000). También se tiene una serie de citas de larvas asignadas a esta especie en Portugal (Cortés et al., 1986) y España (Picazo & Alba-Tercedor, 1992), también en la Región Mediterránea (concretamente en la provincia de Jaén). Igualmente, existe una cita de una larva identificada como del género Ophiogomphus situada en el tramo final del río Ebro (Muñoz & Prat, 1994). Basándose en dichas citas, se incluyó esta especie en la fauna española de odonatos, valorándose sus poblaciones y estado de conservación, entre otras de las especies de artrópodos españoles recogidos en la Directiva Hábitats (Galante & Verdú, 2006), aunque ya se había considerado como dudosa su presencia ibérica (Jödicke, 1996). Actualmente, se consideran como erróneas estas citas (p. ej. Torralba-Burrial, 2007), no se incluye la especie en el catálogo de los odonatos ibéricos (Torralba-Burrial & Ocharan, 2007), ni su presencia se mantiene en los atlas actualizados (p. ej. Boudot et al., 2009). Así, las larvas en las que se basaban las citas portuguesas se han reidentificado como pertenecientes a Onychogomphus forcipatus unguiculatus (Ferreira et al., 2006). El hecho de que las larvas españolas no se hayan conservado, hace que no se puedan comprobar las determinaciones. No obstante, muestreos realizados en la zona no han permitido localizar a O. cecilia, sin embargo apuntan a una probable confusión con nychogomphus costae (Cano-Villegas, 2009). Cabe descartar igualmente la referencia del tramo final del Ebro.
