Lei para quem? e para o que? análise da Lei de Uso e Ocupação do Solo do Município de Cuiabá-MT

O artigo analisa o papel das leis de uso e ocupação do solo na produção espacial das cidades, pois a terra é a base material indispensável para toda e qualquer edificação, tornando-se mercadoria rara e disputada pelos diversos segmentos sociais, e a lei de uso e ocupação do solo tem como premissa promover o ordenamento e garantir que a cidade seja produzida de forma organizada, realizando principalmente sua função social. Entretanto, ao esquadrinhar, classificar e determinar como cada parte da cidade deve ser ocupada, ou ainda criar novas formas de uso e ocupação do solo, tais como: loteamentos murados e condomínios urbanísticos, a lei atribui valores diferentes a cada fração da terra urbana, define quem pode ocupar e como pode ocupar, e muitas vezes são instituídas de modo a contribuir com os interesses do capital e não com o bem-estar da maioria da população, contribuindo para a fragmentação espacial e a segregação. The invention of the self in female travel writings: Isabella Bird, Alexandra David-Néel and Isabelle Eberhardt

The British writer Isabella Bird, the French writer and orientalist Alexandra David-Néel and the Swiss journalist and writer Isabelle Eberhardt all had travel in common. They wandered throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, a period when women were more associated with the home and therefore with immobility. These writers show how nomadism allows them to redefine themselves. First of all, we will see that the reinvention of identity is done through a departure for elsewhere. Indeed, travelling to a new country (Japan, India, Tibet, Algeria) will offer the three writers the access to new practices, but these practices reflect the complexity of the relationship between the West and the East. That being said, Isabella Bird, Alexandra David Néel and Isabelle Eberhardt, thanks to an intellectual nomadism, break down the West-East binary opposition by questioning it. Indeed, they learn new languages (Arabic and Tibetan), they understand the culture of a different country, they participate in all kinds of local practices, and they even convert to a new religion: Buddhism for Alexandra David-Néel and Sufism for Eberhardt. In other words, they become the other, or rather they become other and show that identity is a process in constant movement. The three women also challenge the opposition between women and men, shaking up the codes associated with their gender by travelling through spaces considered masculine, dressing as men, existing in the public and intellectual spheres. Isabella Bird was the first woman member of the Royal Geographical Society, Alexandra David-Néel travelled alone for 14 years and became the first European woman to enter Lhasa (a forbidden city at the time), and Isabelle Eberhardt lived her nomadic life under a male and Muslim identity . But identity is also defined by the narrative. Indeed, we will see that their travel writings contribute to the reinvention of the self and even have a therapeutic effect. Whether through travel writings, fiction or letters: writing permits the performative to exist. Indeed, for Isabella Bird, Alexandra David-Néel and Isabelle Eberhardt, the reinvention of the self is found in the balance between the narrative and the performative, with a need to fix memories, to be one’s own witness to the evolution of the self while existing in the predominantly male public space

Reestructuración productivo-territorial en Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasil: observaciones a partir de la implementación de Suzano Papel e Celulose en Ribas do Rio Pardo (2021-2023)

L’objectif de ce travail est d’analyser le processus de restructuration productive-territoriale dans l’État brésilien de Mato Grosso do Sul, plus précisément à la ville de Ribas do Rio Pardo, à la suite de l’installation de l’entreprise Suzano Papel e Celulose en 2021. Cette entreprise est la plus grande entreprise de papier et de pâte à papier d’Amérique latine, présente dans plus de 80 pays. On suppose que l’introduction de la plantation d’eucalyptus dans l’État depuis 1970 a entraîné des changements substantiels sur le territoire, surtout dans les municipalités qui ont accueilli des unités industrielles en plus des zones de culture. Les méthodologies adoptées comprennent une revue de la bibliographie, des recherches sur le terrain, ainsi qu’une analyse des données primaires et secondaires afin de comprendre le processus de restructuration productive-territoriale à Ribas do Rio Pardo. Les résultats montrent des transformations du paysage économique, politique et démographique, en révélant également comment la ville et la campagne ont été remodelées par une nouvelle logique de production, restructurée pour répondre aux demandes de l’entreprise et du capital industriel.O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o processo de reestruturação produtivo-territorial em Mato Grosso do Sul, especificamente, em Ribas do Rio Pardo, em decorrência da instalação da Suzano Papel e Celulose em 2021. Parte-se do pressuposto de que a inserção do plantio de eucalipto no estado desde 1970 tem gerado alterações substanciais no território, sobretudo nos municípios que abrigaram unidades industriais além das áreas de plantio. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados se baseiam em revisão bibliográfica, trabalho de campo, análise de dados primários e secundários, a fim de compreender o processo de reestruturação produtivo-territorial em Ribas do Rio Pardo/MS. Os resultados indicam transformações no cenário econômico, político e demográfico da região, além de evidenciar como a cidade e o campo têm sido moldados por uma nova lógica de produção, estruturada para atender as demandas da empresa e do capital industrial.El propósito de este estudio es analizar la reestructuración productiva y territorial en Mato Grosso do Sul, específicamente en Ribas Do Rio Pardo, tras la instalación de Suzano Papel e Celulose en 2021. La introducción de plantaciones de eucalipto ha generado cambios significativos en el territorio de producción, especialmente en los municipios que albergan las unidades industriales y las áreas de cultivo. Se emplearon métodos metodológicos como revisión bibliográfica, trabajo de campo y análisis de datos para comprender este proceso en Ribas do Rio Pardo/MS. Los resultados evidencian transformaciones en los ámbitos económico, político y demográfico, indicando que la dinámica de producción en la ciudad y el campo se ha reestructurado para satisfacer las demandas de la compañía de celulosa y el capital industrial, ahora bajo una nueva lógica de producción.This work aims at analyzing the productive-territorial reconfiguration in Mato Grosso do Sul, mainly in Ribas do Rio Pardo since the establishment of Suzano Papel e Celulose in 2021. Since 1970, the insertion of eucalyptus culture in the state have been experiencing significant changes in the territory planted by eucalyptus, especially in the municipalities that housed, in addition to planting areas, their industrial units. In order to understand the productive-territorial reconfiguration in Ribas do Rio Pardo in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the methodological procedures adopted here are based on bibliographic review, field work, primary and secondary data analysis. The results point out transformations in the economic, political and demographic scenario, and show that the manner the city and the countryside were produced have been reconfigured on the basis of the demands of the pulp company and the industrial capital, now that they are subjected to a new way of production which meets the needs of the company and the industrial capital

REGIÕES METROPOLITANAS VIA ELABORAÇÃO DE ÍNDICES: O IBEU, ÍNDICE DE BEM-ESTAR URBANO

O presente estudo tem por objetivo contribuir para as discussões a respeito do processo crescente de construção de índices de caráter socioeconômicos que têm as regiões metropolitanas como escopo de análise, buscando estimular o debate sobre esses espaços institucionalizados. Para tanto, o texto será elaborado em duas etapas: a primeira, abordando historicamente a evolução do processo de elaboração dos índices/indicadores sociais, bem como dos índices sobre as regiões metropolitanas. Em seguida, mostrando alguns indicativos de uma dissociação entre o que os índices têm mostrado sobre as regiões metropolitanas com a realidade desses espaços, ou seja,  não mostram as contradições do processo de produção do espaço. Trata-se, portanto, de um trabalho teórico, no qual o procedimento adotado é a revisão bibliográfica e documental

Transformações no espaço urbano de Ribas do Rio Pardo a partir da instalação da Suzano em 2021

Este trabalho analisa as primeiras transformações no espaço urbano de Ribas do Rio Pardo/MS com a inserção da Suzano Papel e Celulose no município em 2021. Utilizando procedimentos metodológicos baseados em revisões bibliográficas, trabalho de campo e análise de dados primários e secundários, buscamos compreender as dinâmicas atuais na estrutura urbana do município. Constatou-se que as mudanças econômicas e demográficas trazidas pela instalação da indústria têm transformado significativamente a cidade. O surgimento de novos comércios, hotéis, pousadas e loteamentos voltados para a classe trabalhadora são exemplos desse processo de industrialização. A aliança entre capital e Estado, visível nesse contexto, tem impulsionado essas mudanças urbanas, destacando-se pela rápida transformação da cidade em apenas três anos. Assim, o estudo evidencia como a chegada de um grande empreendimento fabril, projetado para ser o maior de seu segmento, está impactando a organização do espaço urbano e alterando profundamente a realidade local

Vacuum torque, propulsive forces, and anomalous tangential forces: Effects of nonreciprocal media out of thermal equilibrium

From the generalized fluctuation-dissipation theorem, it is known that a body at rest made of nonreciprocal material may experience a torque, even in vacuum, if it is not in thermal equilibrium with its environment. However, it does not experience self-propulsion in such circumstances, except in higher order. Nevertheless, such a body may experience both a normal torque and a lateral force when adjacent to an ordinary surface with transverse translational symmetry. We explore how these phenomena arise, discuss what terminal velocities might be achieved, and point out some of the limitations of applying our results to observations, including the Lorenz-Lorentz correction, and the cooling due to radiation. In spite of these limitations, the effects discussed would seem to be observable.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figure

Ultimate Bending Capacity of Spiral-Welded Steel Tubes - Part I: Experiments

The present investigation refers to the bending capacity of spiral-welded steel tubes. The first part of this investigation presents the results of a full-scale experimental program, aiming to investigate the structural behavior of large-diameter spiral-welded steel tubes under bending. A companion paper (Part II) is also published which further studies the behavior of these elements numerically, using finite element simulations.The testing program presented in Part I consists of thirteen 42-inch-diameter spiral-welded steel tubes with D/t ranging between 65 and 120. Some of the tubular specimens contain girth welds and coil connection welds, which are shown to penalize the ultimate bending capacity of the tubes. Extensive measurements of initial imperfections and material properties are performed for each tubular specimen. The material properties of the specimens are investigated through both uniaxial tensile and compression coupon tests. A series of large-scale four-point bending tests is performed to determine the structural behavior of the tubes, resulting in local buckling failure of the tubes under consideration.The bending behavior of the thirteen specimens is documented extensively. The study offers information with regard to ultimate bending resistance of the specimens. In addition, the full moment-curvature equilibrium path is presented, supplemented by measurements on the development of cross sectional ovalisation and tube wall wrinkling during the bending tests

La littérature migratoire au féminin à l’interface entre l’« Orient » et l’« Occident »

This collective volume examines how the contacts and conflicts between the ‘East’ and the ‘West’ are reflected in the narrative texts of women writers. The contributors examine the extent to which being a woman gives rise to different perceptions of the self and the other, and to what extent internal and external forms of Orientalism play a role in this. They explore the extent to which images of self and other, Eastern and Western images of women and stereotypical gender roles come into contact or conflict in these texts, and what consequences this has for women's identities in the in-between between home and host cultures. In post-orientalism, while cultural, linguistic, religious and ideological issues are central to our concerns, the authors also pay particular attention to the way in which the women writers studied, who are themselves travellers and migrants, transcend the critique of traditional colonialism and recreate and make sense of an Orient whose image and meaning is constantly being renewed and refreshed
