This text focuses on the participation of journalist Carol Barcellos in the episode "Ultramaratona do Atacama" (Atacama Ultramarathon) from the television program "Planeta Extremo," broadcast on TV Globo. The objective, with such a focus, is to discuss the representation of the journalist, seeking to interpret the presence and gender performativity in this production. The hypothesis that guided the text was that in this television program, the female journalist specialized in adventure sports embodies the ideological attributes associated with the "new woman," although paradoxically, some conservative conceptions still persist in the program. In methodological terms, the approach briefly traces the entry of women into the workforce, including journalism, and then analyzes its subject, employing an approach that considers both the narrative and visual aspects of the production.
Colonization dynamics of subgingival microbiota in recently installed dental implants compared to healthy teeth in the same individual: a 6-month prospective observational study
Abstract Objectives To evaluate the colonization dynamics of subgingival microbiota established over six months around newly installed dental implants in periodontally healthy individuals, compared with their corresponding teeth. Methodology Seventeen healthy individuals assigned to receive single dental implants participated in the study. Subgingival biofilm was sampled from all implant sites and contralateral/ antagonist teeth on days 7, 30, 90, and 180 after implant installation. Microbiological analysis was performed using the Checkerboard DNA-DNA hybridization technique for detection of classical oral taxa and non-oral microorganisms. Significant differences were estimated by Mann-Whitney and Friedman tests, while associations between implants/teeth and target species levels were assessed by linear regression analysis (LRA). Significance level was set at 5%. Results Levels of some species were significantly higher in teeth compared to implants, respectively, at day 7 ( V.parvula , 6 × 10 5 vs 3 × 105 ; Milleri streptococci , 2 × 10 6 vs 6 × 10 5 ; Capnocytophaga spp., 2 × 10 6 vs 9 × 10 5 ; E.corrodens , 2 × 10 6 vs 5 × 10 5 ; N. mucosa , 2 × 10 6 vs 5 × 10 5 ; S.noxia , 2 × 10 6 vs 3 × 10 5 ; T.socranskii , 2 × 10 6 vs 5 × 10 5 ; H.alvei , 4 × 10 5 vs 2 × 10 5 ; and Neisseria spp., 6 × 10 5 vs 4 × 10 4 ), day 30 ( V.parvula , 5 × 10 5 vs 10 5 ; Capnocytophaga spp., 1.3 × 10 6 vs 6.8 × 10 4 ; F.periodonticum , 2 × 10 6 vs 10 6 ; S.noxia , 6 × 10 5 vs 2 × 10 5 ; H.alvei , 8 × 10 5 vs 9 × 10 4 ; and Neisseria spp., 2 × 10 5 vs 10 6 ), day 120 ( V.parvula , 8 × 10 5 vs 3 × 10 5 ; S.noxia , 2 × 10 6 vs 0; and T.socranskii , 3 × 10 5 vs 8 × 10 4 ), and day 180 ( S.enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhi, 8 × 10 6 vs 2 × 10 6 ) (p<0.05). Implants showed significant increases over time in the levels of F.nucleatum , Gemella spp., H.pylori , P.micra , S.aureus , S.liquefaciens , and T.forsythia (p<0.05). LRA found that dental implants were negatively correlated with high levels of S. noxia and V. parvula (β=-0.5 to -0.3; p<0.05). Conclusions Early submucosal microbiota is diverse and only a few species differ between teeth and implants in the same individual. Only 7 days after implant installation, a rich microbiota can be found in the peri-implant site. After six months of evaluation, teeth and implants show similar prevalence and levels of the target species, including known and new periodontopathic species
The olive tree, due to the high demand for the products olive and oil, is a relevant crop for the global food market. To improve its cultivation, increasing efforts have been invested in studies on biological factors of the soil-plant relationships, mainly with regard to the exploitation of microorganisms such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). In Brazil however, further research is still needed, both under controlled and field conditions. In this sense, this study investigated the formation of extraradical mycelium and spore numbers and diversity of mycorrhiza, on 17 olive tree (Olea europaea L.) varieties. These varieties, considered promising for cultivation in the state of Minas Gerais, are maintained in the olive germplasm bank of the Agricultural Research Institute of Minas Gerais (EPAMIG), at the Experimental Farm Maria da Fé. The response of the olive varieties differed in terms of the level of extraradical mycelium and mycorrhiza formation, since root colonization in the field varied from 0.4% to 3.6%. Under the edaphoclimatic conditions of the study region, no influence of the olive tree varieties on the total number of spores and diversity of AMF was detected, among which the fungal species Glomus ambisporum and Acaulospora scrobiculata were identified most frequently on the roots of the analyzed olive trees.

Traceability: perception and attitudes of artisanal cheese producers in Brazil
This study aimed to evaluate the perceptions and attitudes of artisanal cheese producers (n = 40) in Brazil regarding the implementation of traceability. A questionnaire consisting of 16 statements using a 5-point Likert scale was applied, and descriptive statistics and factor analysis were used for data analysis. The implementation of a traceability system can reduce the number of consumer complaints and the loss of products, in addition to increasing supplier control and process safety, thus protecting health and increasing consumer confidence. However, we did not find consensus on the relationship between implementation of a traceability system and rapid recalls in crisis episodes, or on the reduction in recalls and their negative impact on consumers. Because of the costs that drive implementation of this technology, some artisanal cheese producers do not consider a traceability system as a current reality to monitor their production. We concluded that Brazilian artisanal cheese producers have limited awareness of the impact of traceability implementation, which restricts investments in the system.CNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoCAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível SuperiorFAPERJ - Fundação Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeir
Caryocar brasiliense camb protects against genomic and oxidative damage in urethane-induced lung carcinogenesis
The antioxidant effects of Caryocar brasiliense Camb, commonly known as the pequi fruit, have not been evaluated to determine their protective effects against oxidative damage in lung carcinogenesis. In the present study, we evaluated the role of pequi fruit against urethane-induced DNA damage and oxidative stress in forty 8-12 week old male BALB/C mice. An in vivo comet assay was performed to assess DNA damage in lung tissues and changes in lipid peroxidation and redox cycle antioxidants were monitored for oxidative stress. Prior supplementation with pequi oil or its extract (15 µL, 60 days) significantly reduced urethane-induced oxidative stress. A protective effect against DNA damage was associated with the modulation of lipid peroxidation and low protein and gene expression of nitric oxide synthase. These findings suggest that the intake of pequi fruit might protect against in vivo genotoxicity and oxidative stress
