Spinal Cord Ependymomas

Intradural or primary spinal cord tumors (SCT) are rare. However, when these lesions grow, compression of the spinal cord can lead to limb dysfunction, motor or sensory loss, and possibly death. Ependymomas are believed to account for 60% of all primary neoplasms of the spinal cord and filum terminale. A vast majority of spinal cord ependymomas are benign and not considered malignant (cancer). This poster presentation will describe the presentation, physical exam findings, and imaging of patients with a spinal cord ependymoma. It will focus on the nursing implications of thorough assessment and timely intervention for a more positive outcome for the patient and family

The Effects of Moderate-Severe Plaque Psoriasis on Patient Well-Being and Prevention of Flares

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that is indicated by red, patchy and scaly skin that can be painful when irritated. Patients with psoriasis have an increased risk for a number of chronic diseases. Despite the expansion of treatments for moderate-to-severe psoriasis over the last decade, patients may still find that treatment strategies are not as successful, leaving them dissatisfied with their treatments. A relationship built upon trust between the nurse and the patient diagnosed with psoriasis may serve to help ensure optimal care. A comprehensive literature review was performed and found that best practices for patient management need to include education that covers information regarding treatments, biological therapies, optimizing patient fidelity to treatment, and management of other side effects/ comorbidities. A study is proposed to investigate the impact of the nurse-patient relationship on patients’ perceptions about their disease management in relation to psoriasis and outcomes of care

Addressing Physician Burnout and Moral Injury to Improve Physician Retention in the United States: Perceptions of Physicians

There has been an alarming increase in the levels of moral injury and burn out among physicians. This, compounded with a significant estimated shortage of physicians within the next decade, is now a public health crisis. A recent study conducted by Medscape of over 12,000 physicians reviewed the different etiologies to burnout and access to treatment, but it was limited in exploring the effectiveness of the treatments available. Other studies have suggested a possible correlation with burnout and physician retention, but many of the studies only inquired about thoughts of leaving practice, instead of assessing the physicians that have actually left. This study was designed to assess the current availability and effectiveness of burnout treatments and to investigate a possible correlation of moral injury and burnout on physician retention. Over 500 physicians were surveyed, and quantitative and qualitative data were gathered. The results highlight the importance of offering more screening and effective treatment modalities to physicians to reduce the frequency of burnout and moral injury. If our country is going to retain its physician work force to take care of its citizens, addressing physician burnout and moral injury is essential

PERANCANGAN AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH (ATS) BERBASIS ARDUINO UNO DENGAN SENSOR PZEM-004T

Energi listrik merupakan salah satu jenis energi utama yang menjadi kebutuhan manusia dan digunakan secara kontiniu untuk berbagai keperluan. Salah satu sistem yang penting dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan listrik adalah sistem jaringan distribusi. Sifatnya yang komplek dan jika terjadi gangguan pada sistem jaringan distribusi dapat memutus aliran listrik ke konsumen. Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) merupakan suatu perangkat yang mampu bekerja otomatis untuk menyesuaikan perubahan penggunaan sumber listrik utama ke sumber listrik cadangan ketika suplai dari sumber listrik utama ke beban terputus. Penelitian ini fokus pada perancangan sistem Automatic Transfer Switch berbasis Arduino Uno sehingga dapat melakukan switching tegangan PLN ke sumber tegangan cadangan dari aki dengan kapasitas 20Ah. Metodologinya adalah merancang sistem ATS dengan menggunakan beberapa peralatan hardware dan software berupa Arduino Uno sebagai mikrokontroler, modul PZEM-004T sebagai sensor tegangan untuk mendeteksi sumber tegangan dari PLN, battery sebagai energi cadangan , dan   software Arduino IDE. Hasil penelitian menunjukan sistem ATS mampu memindahkan suplai energi dari PLN ke battery dengan jeda waktu antara 1 menit 45 detik hingga 1 menit 55 detik. Sedangkan pemindahan energi dari battery ke PLN tidak memiliki waktu jeda

As post-colonial/collaborative composition theory suggests (Davies, 1992), the author and the writer of the narrative are two distinct people. While the author constructed the words verbally through a series of ongoing dialogues, the writer transcribed, edited, and re-ordered the text. Douglas Biklen’s book, Communication Unbound (1993), inspired us to explore these non-traditional ways of “writing” that, while grounded in conversation and collaboration, also disrupt models of efficiency and individualism

Pelecehan seksual adalah segala bentuk tindakan yang dilakukan oleh lawan jenis. Itu adalah tindakan seksual dan korban merasa tidak nyaman melakukannya. Pelecehan seksual meliputi tingkat ringan berupa kontak verbal, fisik, dan visual, serta tingkat berat khususnya pemerkosaan. Pelecehan seksual sering kali terjadi karena adanya keinginan dan kesempatan pelaku untuk melakukan pelecehan serta rangsangan dan dorongan dari korban untuk melakukan pelecehan. Metode yang digunakan, khususnya metode sosialisasi, antara lain dengan menyebarkan informasi mengenai dampak yang terjadi pasca pelecehan seksual terhadap korban maupun orang tua korban pelecehan seksual. Berdasarkan hasil dalam pengabdian Masyarakat ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kekerasan seksual yang terjadi di Indonesia terus meningkat. setelah membaca program kerja yang dilaksanakan dalam laporan magang. Peningkatan kesadaran ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi angka kasus kekerasan seksual di Sumsel khususnya di Palembang, karena banyak korban yang takut melapor ke pihak berwajib jika dilecehkan dan akan melapor jika dipaksa dan merasa dirugikan
