Health Promoting Aspects of the Mediterranean Diet
In the 1960\u27s information regarding the diet of the Mediterranean Regions was publicized as a healthful way of eating. Information was obtained from the Seven Countries Study conducted by Ancel Keys. This study revealed that residents of these regions had a lower incidence of coronary heart disease and increased longevity. Such health benefits were connected with low intakes of saturated fat. However, several other studies since then have found the Mediterranean dietary patterns to be more than cardioprotective. A decreased risk of cancer, reduced morbidity and mortality, and a decreased risk of several other diseases are also attributed to the Mediterranean dietary practices. Other studies have also revealed the health promoting aspects of the Mediterranean Diet other than low saturated fatty acid consumption. The aspects of the Mediterranean Diet that promote health include; high monounsaturated to saturated fat ratio, high fiber intake, high consumption of fruits and vegetables, moderate consumption of dairy products, moderate alcohol consumption, and a positive relationship with food. Each component of the Mediterranean Diet provides health benefits such as decreased risk of cardiovascular disease, decreased risk of certain.forms of cancer, and longevity
Mars Aeronomy Observer: Report of the Science Working Team
The Mars Aeronomy Observer (MAO) is a candidate follow-on mission to Mars Observer (MO) in the Planetary Observer Program. The four Mariner and two Viking spacecraft sent to Mars between 1965 and 1976 have provided a wealth of information concerning Martian planetology. The Mars Observer, to be launched in 1990, will build on their results by further examining the elemental and mineralogical composition of the surface, the strength and multipolar composition of the planetary magnetic field, the gravitational field and topography, and the circulation of the lower atmosphere. The Mars Aeronomy Observer is intended to address the last major aspects of Martian environment which have yet to be investigated: the upper atmosphere, the ionsphere, and the solar wind interaction region
Vortex Structure in the Plasma Flow Channels of the Venus Wake
An overall description of the solar wind that streams into the Venus wake and the ionospheric plasma that is driven from that planet’s magnetic polar region is examined from measurements conducted with the various spacecraft that have probed the Venus plasma environment (Mariner 5, Venera 9-10, Pioneer Venus Orbiter, Venus Express). It is shown that the plasma properties in the Venus wake describe conditions that are less suitable for steady gyrotropic trajectories of the planetary particles but require the assumption that they are also subject to a fluid dynamic description that introduces structures similar to those generated through kinetic forces. Most notable is that there is evidence of decelerated solar wind proton fluxes measured within plasma channels that are mostly populated by outflowing planetary ions and that the solar wind particles moving in the wake execute trajectories that resemble motion along a vortex shape with motion directed even back toward the planet in the Venus inner wake. The plasma flow channels are mostly restricted to the vicinity of the midnight plane and extend downstream from the magnetic polar region
PENERAPAN TOKEN EKONOMI GUNA MENINGKATKAN KEHADIRAN SISWA DI KELAS PINTAR RUMAH HEBAT INDONESIA : SEBUAH PENELITIAN TINDAKAN
Rumah Hebat Indonesia merupakan sebuah rumah pendampingan belajar
berbasis komunitas yang memiliki program Kelas Pintar. Kelas Pintar
mengajarkan pelajaran akademik sekolah sesuai dengan kurikulum dari
kementerian pendidikan. Akan tetapi, masih terdapat permasalahan yang terjadi di
Kelas Pintar yaitu rendahnya kehadiran siswa. Kehadiran merupakan salah satu
hal penting dalam evaluasi pembelajaran di dalam instansi belajar. Kehadiran
siswa juga menandakan bahwa siswa memiliki kesempatan untuk mempelajari
materi pelajaran yang dapat menunjang kesuksesan di sekolah dan mempengaruhi
lingkungan belajar siswa.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan kehadiran siswa di Kelas
Pintar Rumah Hebat Indonesia dan menguji efektivitas token ekonomi dalam
meningkatkan kehadiran di Kelas Pintar Rumah Hebat Indonesia. Subjek
penelitian yaitu siswa kelas enam Rumah Hebat Indonesia sebanyak tiga belas
siswa. Tindakan yang diberikan untuk meningkatkan kehadiran siswa di Kelas
Pintar Rumah Hebat Indonesia menggunakan teknik token ekonomi. Siswa
diberikan stempel pada kartu adik hebat dan papan adik hebat ketika mereka
menghadiri pembelajaran di Kelas Pintar.
Analisis penelitian menggunakan persentase untuk menunjukkan kehadiran
siswa. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kehadiran
dan perubahan positif pada siswa. Siklus I, kehadiran siswa hari pertama dan
kedua berturut-turut yaitu 61 % dan 92 %. Siklus II, kehadiran siswa hari pertama,
hari kedua dan hari ketiga berturut-turut 69 %, 100 % dan 53 %. Hasil tersebut
diperkuat dengan penuturan pengajar yang menyebutkan bahwa siswa semakin
semangat dalam menghadiri Kelas Pintar. Siswa menuliskan pada lembar evaluasi
kegiatan bahwa mereka menyukai token ekonomi yang digunakan dalam Kelas
Pintar.

Transient Phenomena Originating at the Sun - An Interplanetary View
An overview is given of various phenomena observed by numerous spacecraft in the interplanetary medium. These phenomena are related to transient solar events such as flares and coronal holes. The effects of such transient solar events are extensive. At times, a solar event can affect the interplanetary medium out to distances as far as 17.2 AU and over a wide range of azimuthal angles. Also some phenomena, such as high frequency fluctuations (precursors of shocks) in the interplanetary medium, appear beyond 1 AU. Thus, transient phenomena are significantly modified by their passage through this medium. The conclusion is reached that transient events originating on the sun and passing through the interplanetary medium represent complex and significant physical problems.</jats:p
