    Data-driven synthesis of realistic human motion using motion graphs

Motion capture provides realistic human motion data using sensor technology. However, motion capture data is not flexible. This drawback limits the utility of motion capture in practice. In this thesis, we propose a two-stage approach that makes the motion captured data reusable to synthesize new motions in real-time via motion graphs. Starting from a dataset of various motions, we construct a motion graph of similar motion segments and calculate the parameters, such as blending parameters, needed in the second stage. In the second stage, we synthesize a new human motion in realtime, depending on the blending techniques selected. Three different blending techniques, namely linear blending, cubic blending and anticipation-based blending, are provided to the user. In addition, motion clip preference approach, which is applied to the motion search algorithm, enable users to control the motion clip types in the result motion.Dirican, HüseyinM.S

    A comparative study on the fatty acid profiles of total lipid, neutral and polar lipids in the liver and muscle of Capoeta sieboldii (Steindachner, 1864) and Capoeta baliki (Turan, Kottelat, Ekmekçi, Imamoğlu, 2006) from Tödürge lake (Sivas, Turkey)

    The fatty acid compositions of the total lipid, neutral and polar lipid fractions in the liver and muscle of Capoeta sieboldii and Capoeta baliki from Tödürge Lake were determined. Major fatty acids found in total lipid (TL) and neutral lipid (NL) in liver and muscles were C16:0, C16:1 n-7, C18:1 n-9, C18:1 n-7, C20:4 n-6, C20:5 n-3, C22:5 n-3, and C22:6 n-3. Beside these acids, C18:0 was another notable fatty acid in polar lipid (PL) fraction of the tissues investigated. The n-3/n-6 ratio, which is an indicator of health benefits of fish oils, was between 2.89 (PLs of liver) and 5.84 (PLs of muscle) in C. baliki, while it was found between 1.43 (PLs of liver) and 2.52 (NLs of muscle) in C. sieboldii. C. baliki was the excellent species in terms of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) levels in TL (43.92% in muscle) and PLs (52.94% in muscle) and C22:6 n-3 amounts (docosahexaenoic acid; DHA) were responsible for these high percentages. These results suggest that Capoeta species investigated have high nutritive value in terms of polyunsaturated fatty acids for human nutrition

    Detecting Steps Walking at very Low Speeds Combining Outlier Detection, Transition Matrices and Autoencoders from Acceleration Patterns

    In this paper, we develop and validate a new algorithm to detect steps while walking at speeds between 30 and 40 steps per minute based on the data sensed from a single tri-axial accelerometer. The algorithm concatenates three consecutive phases. First, an outlier detection is performed on the sensed data based on the Mahalanobis distance to pre-detect candidate points in the acceleration time series that may contain a ground contact segment of data while walking. Second, the acceleration segment around the pre-detected point is used to calculate the transition matrix in order to capture the time dependencies. Finally, autoencoders, trained with data segments containing ground contact transition matrices from acceleration series from labeled steps are used to reconstruct the computed transition matrices at each pre-detected point. A similarity index is used to assess if the pre-selected point contains a true step in the 30-40 steps per minute speed range. Our experimental results, based on a database from three different participants performing similar activities to the target one, are able to achieve a recall = 0.88 with precision = 0.50 improving the results when directly applying the autoencoders to acceleration patterns (recall = 0.77 with precision = 0.50)
