STRUCTURE OF METHYLPHEOPHORBIDE-RCI
he methanolic extract of the cyanobacterium (blue-green alga) Spirulina geitleri has been treated with methanolic acid to convert all chlorophyllous pigments to their methylpheophorbides. Fractionation of the latter from methylpheophorbide a by thin layer chromatography and high pressure liquid chromatography yielded methylpheophorbide-RCI. Its structure has been determined as 132S-hydroxy-20-chloro-methylpheophorbide a by 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance, absorption and circular dichroism spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and by partial synthesis from chlorophyll a. The pigment is isolated from Spirulina geitleri irrespective of the use or omission of chlorinated substances during the isolation procedure
Knock and the door shall be opened unto you, using strength and conditioning as a tool to open doors for ministry
This professional presentation will discuss how the power of meeting a need can open doors for ministry. Christian Sports Performance Ministry utilizes strength and conditioning to encourage, equip, and enable athletes, coaches, and educators to create relationships through which the Gospel can be shared. In areas of the world where current conditioning methods are not commonplace, education on how to enhance physical performance can be very attractive.
In conjunction with Athletes in Action Philippines, Christian Sports Performance has successfully been using strength and conditioning to open doors for ministry since 2011. Initially, a skill-based training system was developed and used for clinics and workshops throughout the Philippines. In 2015, a partner institution requested the development of a curriculum to add the theory needed to develop safe and effective training programs.
Now the International Certificate in Strength and Conditioning Coaching program that will serve as a training system to develop entry-level strength coaches is ready to be launched. This program combines athletic performance skills with five theory-based modules offered online. The PowerRev Way book project published in 2023 provides a text to support the online modules and athletic performance series.
This presentation will present the International Certificate in Strength and Conditioning Coaching and share how the program will be put into action. Development of new sports ministries through Athlete in Action in South and Southeast Asia, strength and conditioning can be used as a door opener for ministries in parts of the world desperate to hear the Gospel
PHOTOCHEMICAL RING-OPENING IN meso-CHLORINATED CHLOROPHYLLS
Irradiation of 20-chloro-chlorophylls of the a-type with visible light produces long-wavelength shifted photoproducts, which transform in the dark to linear tetrapyrroles (bile pigments). The possible significance for chlorophyll degradation is discussed

The power of clinical diagnosis in the practices of occupational therapists working in educational contexts
Occupational Therapy is an emerging discipline within multidisciplinary educational teams, therefore, it’s relevant to inquire about its role in the Chilean educational context. This article presents research whose aim was to analyze, from a critical perspective, how clinical diagnosis influences the practices of occupational therapists that work in the school system, considering as the main axes for research, the normative framework that governs the educational system in Chile, the discourse of occupational therapists on their practices and the relationships established with the diagnosis in this context. The sample was ten occupational therapists who work in schools from the south of Chile, to whom semi-structured interviews were applied. The results allow us to visualize that educational policies significantly influence the practices of occupational therapists, even when the regulations do not specify the disciplinary role. In addition, clinical diagnosis emerges strongly in the discourse of occupational therapists, functioning as a device of power within professional practices, especially to validate the professional role within the educational context. The use of diagnosis concerning the professional identity and the effects it has on the people they work with is discussed. This article concludes with the proposal of adopting a critical vision of the discipline’s task, based on the transformative action that it seeks to generate through practice

Nowhere land : a summer in America's biggest commune
M.A. University of Hawaii at Manoa 2012.Includes bibliographical references.Twin Oaks is an Intentional Community (IC) in Louisa, Virginia that has been in full operation since 1967. Hidden away on 450 acres of woodland property, the 100-member population chooses to work and live outside of mainstream culture. Founded on B.F. Skinner's behaviorist theories, Twin Oaks is a communist establishment structured around a labor credit system that eradicates the need for money. In this creative non-fiction novel, the author gives a first-hand account of life at Twin Oaks by immersing herself in the commune's culture. During the visitor period, the author dissects her own psychological, political and sociological approaches by comparing life in the "outside world" to life at Twin Oaks. The author's re-evaluation of American culture, when removed from it, exposes deep flaws and striking similarities between the two worlds
