Hydrogen storage in Ti, V and their oxides-based thin films
We have investigated the hydrogen storage ability and the effect of hydrogenation on structure and physical properties of Ti/V and their oxides-based thin films. A series of Ti–TiO₂ and VOx–TiO₂ thin films with different layer structures, geometries and thicknesses have been prepared by the sputtering technique on different (Si(111), SiO₂, C) substrates. For the Ti–TiO₂–Ti films up to 50 at.% of hydrogen can be stored in the Ti layers, while the hydrogen can penetrate without accumulation through the TiO₂ layer. A large hydrogen storage was also found in some V₂O₅–TiO₂ films. Hydrogen could also remove the preferential orientation in the Ti films and induce a transition of V₂O₅ to VO₂ in the films
Passivation behaviour of Alloy 31 (UNS N08031) in polluted phosphoric acid at different temperatures
The influence of temperature (20–80 °C) and chloride concentration (0.06–0.42 wt.% KCl) on the electrochemical behaviour of the UNS N08031 was studied in 40 wt.% polluted phosphoric acid solution.
Passivation behaviour was investigated by using potentiostatic tests at different potentials. From the linear regions of the log i vs. log t transients, the parameter n was obtained. The results showed that the applied potential hardly affects on the passivation rate n. However, n values decreased when temperature increased. The values of n demonstrated that the passive film formed on Alloy 31 was compact and highly protective. The authors express their gratitude to the MAEC of Spain (PCI Mediterraneo C/8196/07, C/018046/08, D/023608/09 and D/030177/10), to Programa de Apoyo a la Investigacion y Desarrollo de la UPV (PAID-06-09) and to the Generalitat Valenciana (GV/2011/093) for the financial support and to Dr. Asuncion Jaime for her translation assistance.Escrivá Cerdán, C.; Blasco Tamarit, ME.; García García, DM.; García Antón, J.; Guenbour, A. Hydrogen storage in Ti–TiO₂ multilayers
Multilayered thin films of Ti–TiO₂ system have been investigated, focusing on all of the important parameters in both photocatalysis and H storage. Numerous Ti–TiO₂ thin films with a single-, bi- and tri-layered structure have been deposited on different substrates by means of dc pulsed magnetron sputtering from a metallic Ti target in an inert Ar or reactive Ar + O₂ atmosphere. The film chemical composition, depth profile, layer thickness and structure were determined by combined analysis of x-ray diffraction, x-ray reflectometry, Rutherford back- scattering and optical reflectivity spectra. The results show that the Ti films deposited on Si(111) exhibit a strong preferred orientation with the (00.1) plane parallel to the substrate, while a columnar structure was developed for TiO₂ films. H charging at 1 bar and at 300 °C revealed that, in the case of the tri-layered structure of Ti/TiO₂/Ti/Si(111), H diffused through the TiO₂ layer without any accumulation in it. Pd acts as a catalyst for gathering H in Ti layers and up to 50% of H is stored in the topmost and bottom Ti layers. The preferential orientation in the Ti films was found to be destroyed upon hydrogenation at 100 bar. The hydride TiHₓ phase (x < 0.66) was formed under such a high H pressure

Broadcasting Mourning. The Example of Media Event Production Based on the Funeral of Smoleńsk Catastrophe Victims
i emocjonalnych (księża). Co istotne, nawet podczas zerwania ramówki ważną rolę odgrywają działania autopromocyjne – stąd duża częstotliwość emisji spotów będących z jednej strony podsumowaniem wydarzeń, z drugiej wzmocnieniem wartości marki stacji. The main issue of this article is how to produce a media event on the example of the funeral which took place on 17 and 18 April 2010 in Warsaw and Krakow, after the crash of Smolensk, broadcasted by the station TVN 24. The formal structure of the message and publishing assumptions for each type of format (also economic ones) were also analyzed. The contents of both days were compared in order to define which elements are constant and which depend on the production conditions. Because editors use narrative scripts that are consolidated at social awareness, they choose appropriate scheme of plot, protagonists and storyline context. The choice of commentators indicates that the sense of security still depends on rational arguments (scientists) and emotional ones (priests). But even during mourning events, self-promotional activities play an important role. Hence, the frequency of promotional spots is high. They play double role: on the one hand they are a kind of summary of the events, on the other hand they strengthen brand values
